Summer Essentials Fancy Friend

Hello and good morning. It’s supposed to be very hot here today on Long Island, the temperature is supposed to go up to 95! I like the summer but for me 72 degrees is perfect, 95 degrees, a little too hot! In lieu of the temperature shift today’s card is nice and bright and clean. The base of the card is Rose Red Card Stock. I used the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of Daffodil Delight Card Stock cut to 3 1/2″ x 5″, a little smaller than usual to let more of the base show through. The images are from the Summer Silhouettes Stamp Set and are stamped in Wild Wasabi and Rose Red ink. I mounted the flowers to a base of Rose Red, added 3 Rose Red brads form the Subtles Collection 3/16″ Brads and tied a piece of Daffodil Delight 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon around it. The image across the bottom of the card is stamped in Wild Wasabi. The friends is from the Sweet Essentials Stamp Set and is also stamped in Wild Wasabi and punched out with the Word Window Punch. All of the elements are mounted to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the font in the Sweet Essentials Stamp Set and the stamps in the Summer Sihlouettes Stamp Set are great for so many different projects. I hope that you get a happy feeling from today’s card and that you are having nice sunny weather where you are. Thank you for dropping by and have an awesome day! 🙂

Mojo 246

Happy Tuesday peeps! How was everyone’s Monday? Mine was like any other Monday… not really a fan of Monday at all! Today’s card is for this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. The lovely Mary Fish has provided us with this sketch to work with…

What better excuse to use the new Postage Due Stamp Set than a card that needs some squares! The base of my card is Soft Suede and I used the Distressed Dots Background Stamp inked in Soft Suede for a little tone on tone texture. The greeting is from the From My Heart Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede. I used the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies to cut it out and then I used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack for the border. Two of the Metallic Brads add a little sublet bling to the greeting and I mounted it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I cut a piece of Midnight Muse Card Stock to 1/2″ x 5″ and used the 1″ Square Punch to flag the ends. The stamps are from the Postage Due Stamp Set and are stamped in Midnight Muse and punched out with the Postage Stamp Punch. I mounted the stamps to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals too. This is a nice quick masculine card and I hope that you like it. Thank you so much for stopping by and have a great day!

Paper Players – Happy 100th Challenge!

Good morning everyone! I hope that you all had a nice weekend. I had a very nice weekend. I spent a good part of it making the wedding invitations for my brother’s wedding. My daughter Taylor was here for most of the weekend with me and she helped a lot. I also went to lunch on Father’s Day with my parents, brother, his fiancĂ© and my daughter. The weather was perfect here too, all in all it was a pretty awesome weekend! Today’s post is for the Paper Players who are celebrating their 100th challenge this week! Wow! 100 challenges, that’s pretty impressive!

This week you got to go through the archives and choose a previous challenge to base your card on. I chose challenge #88…

I started with a base of Pool Party Card Stock. Using my Big Shot I ran a piece of So Saffron Card Stock through it using the Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The stamped images are from the You’re Amazing Stamp Set and the ballon is stamped in Not Quite Navy and cut out with my Paper Snips. I mounted it to a background of Pool Party that is embossed with the Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed with a piece of Not Quite Navy. They are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I stamped the winner tickets in Pool Party and punched them out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch. The happy birthday is also from the You’re Amazing Stamp Set and is stamped in Not Quite Navy and I used the circle from the Itty Bitty Shaped Punch Pack to create the ticket corners. Behind that is a piece of Pool Party that I embossed using the Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folders. Along the bottom edge is a piece of Not Quite Navy that I punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch. For a little something extra to help the Paper Players celebrate I made a matching box. The box is made uses the Simply Scored Scoring Tool which makes 3D projects a breeze. The paper bow was inspired by the cover of the 2012-2013 Annual Catalog. I really like them and I actually made a few of them and I’ll post them later in the week. It’s 1/2″ strips of Pool Party Card Stock and I used the happy birthday from the From My Heart Stamp Set to stamp the strips. I then flagged the ends of the bottom two strips and curled the top two pieces and formed some circles. It’s all stacked and adhered with Sticky Strip. The other images are from the same set I used on the card, You’re Amazing. I hope that you like this weeks Paper Players 100th Challenge card and box. Congratulations again the fabulous ladies over there and here’s to 100 more challenges! Have a great day! 🙂

Happy Father’s Day!

Good morning everyone and Happy Father’s Day to all of you dad’s and to the mom’s that do double duty. I’m posting two cards today, one that I made for a friend of mine and the second one for my dad. The first card uses the very first set that I purchased from Stampin’ Up!, The Open Sea. It was in last year’s Summer Mini and it is still one of my favorite masculine sets. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Chocolate Chip with the Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. All of the image are from The Open Sea Stamp Set. The ship and the Anchor are stamped in Night of Navy and the log page is stamped in Chocolate Chip. The ship and anchor are cut out with my Paper Snips and mounted to the log which is backed by Night of Navy and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Delightful Dozen Stamp Set and is also stamped in Night of Navy. For a nice finishing touch I tied a piece of Linen Thread around the log before I mounted it to the card With Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The second card is actually a CASE that I saw in a video from Brenda Keenan on Stampin’ Connection (The Demonstrator Forum). I used Early Espresso Card Stock for the base. The shirt and tie are Nautical Expedition from the Clearance Rack that coincidentally was intended to go with The Open Sea Stamp Set. The collar is held down by double Stampin’ Dimensionals and two Silver Mini Brads. The dad is from the Family Reunion Stamp Sets and is stamped in Marina Mist. If you would like to see Brenda’s great video tutorial you can head over to her blog and check it out here.

Thank you so much for checking in with me today and once again Happy Father’s Day!! 🙂

Good morning! How is everyone this fine Saturday? The weather is supposed to be nice here today so I am going to have to go for a ride in the convertible later. I also have to start on my brother and his fiancĂ©’s invitations. It’s going to be another crafty weekend! Today’s card is for this weeks Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. This week we have a color Challenge…

I have been wanting to use the Fine Feathers Stamp Set and thought this would be a good color combination to take a first run with it. The base of the card is Crumb Cake Card Stock. I took a piece of Cherry Cobbler and embossed it with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It’s backed with a piece of Island Indigo Card Stock and adhered to the card with SNAIL. I stamped the feathers from the Fine Feathers Stamp Set in Island Indigo and cut them out with my Paper Snips. They are adhered to the chevron piece with SNAIL. I stamped the bird from the Nature Walk Stamp Set in Crumb cake and cut him out With my Paper Snips and darkened his eye with the Crumb Cake Stampin Write Marker and adhered him to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Sweet Essentials Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo and backed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. The long feather is also adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the detail in the Fine Feather Stamps and the chevrons mimic the v’s in the feathers. I hope that you are inspired by this weeks Create with Connie and Mary card and that you have a great Saturday. Thank you for checking in and I’ll see you tomorrow!

Freshly Made Sketches #39

Happy Friday everyone! Well, we made it through another week! Today’s is the big day… it’s time to announce the winner of the blog candy. I used Random.org to select the winner from the comments that were left on Monday’s post and the winner is…

LeAnne!!!!

Congratulations!! If you would be so kind as to send me your address I will get your Papaya Collage Wood Mount Stamp Set in the mail to you tomorrow morning! Thanks to everyone that left a comment and we’ll have some more blog candy soon!

Some other cool news is that a fellow Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, Katt over at Katt’s Creative Corner CASE’d one of my cards the other day. She did a fantastic job and even put together a great tutorial. You can see her post here. If any of you make a similar card I would love to see them. If we get enough of them I’ll do a post one day of all of them!

Now on to today’s business. Today’s card is for Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #39. They have given us the following sketch to work with…

What a nice simple layout. I decided that it has been a while since I made an easel card so that’s what I did. The base of the card is Basic Gray Card Stock. I used the Wedding Words Stampin’ Around Jumbo Wheel, inked in So Saffron, for the partial background on Very Vanilla Card Stock. A piece of So Saffron is cut out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies and I used the new Paper-Piercing Essentials Pack and the new Paper-Piercer to create the border on the cut out. To that I added a piece of Basic Gray cut out with the Labels Collection Framelits Dies and embossed with the Perfect Polkadots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The two Champagne glasses are from the Embellished Events Stamp Set and are stamped in So Saffron and Embellished with some Basic Jewels Rhinestones. The champagne glasses and Apothecary piece are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I also added a rhinestone to the ring on the background because you can never have too much bling! The bottom of the card has a piece of So Saffron with a piece of embossed Basic Gray. I used the Eyelet Border Punch (Retired) on Very Vanilla and adhered it each side. The greeting is stamped in Basic Gray and punched out with the Decorative Label Punch and I used the Paper-Piercing Essentials Pack for the border around the greeting. I love the color combination, which was inspired by my friend Sandy, and the Embellished Events Stamp Set too! I hope that you enjoyed today’s card and congratulations again to LeAnne! Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

PPA 136

Hello there! How are you today? I’m good now that it has finally stopped raining and the sun is out. It rained all day yesterday, that fine rain that doesn’t justify an umbrella but too if you don’t have one you get soaked! I hope that you are experiencing nice weather where you are. So, today is the day that I will pick the winner of the blog candy and it will be announced tomorrow morning. Thank you for your comments! On to today’s card that is for this weeks Pals Paper Arts Challenge. This time is a color challenge…

What a very patriotic choice of colors. The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of Real Red from the Brights Stack Designer Series Paper. I ran a pice of Night Of Navy Card Stock through my Big Shot using the Argyle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to put on top of that. The image and “Best” are from the Blue Ribbon Stamp Set and are stamped in Night Of Navy and Real Red. The “Best” is punched out with the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch and the image is cut out with my Paper Snips. I used the Bitty Banner Framelits Dies to cut out the ribbon in Real Red and adhered it on the stamped ribbon. Both pieces are mounted on Stampin’ Dimensionals. The friend is from the Family Reunion Stamp Set and is stamped in Night Of Navy and backed with a piece of Night Of Navy Card Stock. This color combination works great with the stamp sets and I hope that you like the finished card. Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!

Hello everyone and welcome to Wednesday. We are cresting the hill headed towards the weekend and it only gets better from here! Don’t forget that today is the last day to leave a comment on Monday’s post for your chance to win some blog candy. Click here to got to the post and leave your comment. Today’s card is for this weeks Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. That clever Julee Tilman has given us this sketch to work with…

This was one that as soon as I saw it I knew what I was going to do. I started with a base of Island Indigo and I added a piece of Crumb Cake Card Stock that is embossed with the Argyle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The two pieces of Designer Series Paper are from the Fan Fair DSP and I used the 1″ Circle Punch to round two of the corners on each piece. The flagged pieces of Summer Starfruit are cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. I have to say that I wasn’t a fan of Summer Starfruit when I first saw it but it is fast becoming one of my favorite colors. All of the stamped images are from the Clockworks Stamp Set and are stamped in Summer Starfruit and Island Indigo. The gears are punched out with the 1/2″ and 1″ Circle Punches and the one behind is punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. The pocket watch is cut out with my Paper Snips and the dial is punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle punch. The hands are also cut out with Paper Snips and all of the elements are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the piece of Island Indigo that is cut out with the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies. The happy birthday is from the From My Heart Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies and also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the way the Island Indigo, Summer Starfruit and Crumb Cake look together. And what a great stamp set and DSP for a masculine card. I hope that you enjoyed this week’s Mojo Monday card and thank you so much for checking in. Have an amazing day!

Paper Players #99

Hello peeps! How was everyone’s Monday? Mine was ok, at least the weather was nice. Have you left your comment on yesterday’s post to enter to win some blog candy? If not you get to the post here. So, head on back and leave a comment. The winner will be announced Friday morning! Now, for today’s post I have made another one of my 3D Window Cards for this week’s Paper Players. Lesley has given us the following color challenge…

I started with a piece of Very Vanilla Card Stock cut to 12″ x 5 1/2″. If you want the full instructions on how to make the card contact me and I’ll be happy to send them to you. The background is a piece of Melon Mambo Card Stock that is embossed with the Argyle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The stamp is the World’s Greatest Wood Mount that I stamped twice in Lucky Limeade and cut out with my Paper Snips and then cut out the “World’s” and mounted it on Stampin’ Dimensionals. On the next layer I stamped the elephant from the You’re Amazing Stamp Set in Basic Grey and cut him out with my Paper Snips and stamped his hat again in Melon Mambo and cut that out and mounted it to him with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The friend is from the Family Reunion Stamp Set and is also stamped in Basic Grey and backed with a piece of Basic Grey Card Stock. I stamped the small ticket image, also from the You’re Amazing Stamp Set, in Basic Grey, Melon Mambo and Lucky Limeade quite a few times and punched them out with the Ticket Duo Punch. I then used some Two-Way Glue to adhere them around the frame of Crumb Cake Card Stock. I love the color combination and the You’re Amazing Stamp Set is quickly becoming one of my favorites! I hope that you enjoyed today’s card and thank you, as always, for checking in. Have a great day!

Plus you will be eligible for JK Cards Anchor Rewards. Now on to today’s post.

Today’s card is for this weeks Create with Connie and Mary. This week they have given us this sketch…

I used a little creative license and moved things around a bit because I wanted to use the new World Treasures Stamp Set. The peacock from the World Treasures Stamp Set is stamped in Gumball Green and again in Midnight Muse. I used my therapeutic Paper Snips to cut them out and layered then on top of one another. The image across the top, from the same set, is stamped in Midnight Muse and I used the new Finishing Touches Edgelits Dies for the “pinked” edge along the top. Behind the peacock is a piece of Daffodil Delight Card Stock that I embossed with the new Fancy Fan Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Across the bottom is a piece of Floral District Designer Series Paper and they are all adhered to the base which is Gumball Green. The greeting, also from the World Treasures Stamp Set, is stamped in Midnight Muse and cut out with the Apothecary Accents Edgelits Dies. The peacock and the greeting are both adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I hope you enjoyed today’s card and don’t forget to leave a comment to be entered to win a Papaya Collage Wood Mount Stamp Set form the new 2012-2013 Catalog!
