Tracey’s 40th B’day!

Well that weekend just flew by! Lots to do makes time go quick. It was a busy weekend here on my blog too. We had the Control Freaks Blog Tour that started Saturday night and then my Paper Players Guest Designer post on Sunday morning. The Blog Tour was great! It’s quite awesome to be in such good creative company. And did you see all of the other designers cards over at the Paper Players? They just keep on getting better and better! I really do love being able to have the ability to share my creative passion with you and to be surrounded by such talented people. Let’s not forget all of you! Your comments and visits make me want to be the best I can be! So thank you very much!

Before we get started with today’s post just a quick reminder that Sale-A-Bration officially starts tomorrow! Get those lists ready and get your FREE products for every $50 you spend. If you spend $150 you will also get a pack of Silver Glimmer Paper to celebrate Stampin’ Up!’s 25 Anniversary in addition to $25 in Hostess money. Spend $400 (or host a party with $400 in total sales) and you get 8 FREE Sale-A-Bration items, the Silver Glimmer Paper and a Sycamore Street Product Bundle (Stamp Set, Ribbon, Buttons, Designer Series Paper) plus $65 in Hostess money and one item at 50% off. How cool is that?!

Today I’m posting a birthday card for my cousin Tracey in England. I would doubt that she has received it yet so I’m hoping that she forgets to look today! She is turing 40 today and she honestly doesn’t look a day over 26! Her favorite color is pink and she manages a pub in London so this is what I came up with for her. The base of the card is Rose Red Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Pink Pirouette with the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The flags at the top are cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. The top one is stamped in Rose Red with an image from the Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set and the lower one is stamped in the same color using the Memorable Moments Stamp Set. The middle panel contains images from the Happy Hour Stamp Set. The drinks are stamped in Pink Pirouette and the olive in what else… Old Olive! I backed it with piece of Rose Red and all of the pieces, including the greeting, are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Speaking of the greeting it is also from the Happy Hour Stamp Set and again stamped in Rose Red. I think that the card fills the pink and pub manager requirements, don’t you? I hope that Tracey likes the card and that you enjoyed it too. Thank you for spending some time with me and I hope that you all have a very nice Monday!

Paper Players #129 :-)

Good morning! How are we all faring with the weekend so far? Mine is going well, I brought an iPhone back to life last night for a clumsy friend of mine! Manhattan was nice yesterday and I drove in and no traffic! It’s like winning the Lotto, there is always traffic here. So, how did you all like the Control Freaks Blog Tour last night?! I thought it was a pretty awesome tour! If you want to check it out again you can click here.

Seeing as it’s Sunday that must mean it’s time for another Paper Players Challenges! Congratulations to Stacey and her Cowboy card for being my choice for Cut Above last week! For this week’s challenge the lovely Jaydee has given us this Clean and Simple sketch…

Paper Players 129 1-20-2013

I figured that after my really feminine card the other day I needed something really masculine! LOL! I started my card off with a base of Not Quite Navy Card Stock. The background is created with a piece of River Rock… I don’t think I have used River Rock in forever… anyway… that I embossed with the Houndstooth Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The main panel is stamped with an image from the Beyond Plaid Stamp Set. I used my trusty Stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the pattern perfectly so it looks like one big stamp. For the watch I used the Dapper Dad Stamp Set. The dial is stamped in River Rock and the band in Soft Suede. The dial is mounted to the band and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is form the Cross My Heart Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede. I trimmed it up with my Paper Snips and used some Stampin’ Dimensional pieces to adhere it to the card. What man would not want to get a nice clean masculine card like this one for their birthday?!?! I love the stamp and embossing folder coordination and the River Rock looks nice with the Not Quite Navy. I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Players Guest Designer card for this week’s challenge from Jaydee. Don’t forget to stop by the blog and see what amazing cards the other talented designer have come up with and enter one of yours so I can see! I hope you have a nice rest of your weekend. 🙂

Control Freaks January Blog Tour!

freakwelcome

Hello and welcome to the Control Freaks January Blog Tour featuring products from the 2013 Sale-A-Bration Brochure! If you are following the tour you have just arrived from Connie Babbert’s blog. She always has such awesome projects doesn’t she?!?! I have two projects to share with you today, both of them are 3D Home Decor items and I hope that you enjoy them!

First up we have a small resin frame that I picked up from a local craft store. You can do some amazing things with theses frames besides putting a picture inside. I have a fond affection for London so I was so happy to see the Phone Box in the Feeling Sentimental Stamp Set. I stamped the image in Midnight Muse on Very Vanilla Card Stock. The hellos are form the Petite Pretties Stamp Set and are stamped in Summer Starfruit. I used the Petite Curly Label Punch, also a Sale-A-Bration item, to punch them out. Across the bottom is a piece of paper from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack. To dress that up a little bit I adhered a piece of Real Red 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon around the back. I love the standard red and blue with the pop of Summer Starfruit. How cool is that they included a punch in this year’s Sale-A-Bration?! This is a simple project that will help dress up any little nook in your home. It definitely makes me feel sentimental for merry old England!

Frame - Control Freaks 1-2013 Blog Tour

Next up we have a bird cage. I also picked this up from a local craft store but instead of a bird I thought some flowers would look nice inside. To form the base I used two circles, one in Whisper White and one in Early Espresso. In between the two layers is a piece of floral foam. The flowers are from the Madison Avenue Stamp Set and are stamped in Primrose Petals and cut out with the Floral Frames Collection Framelits Dies. The middles are stamped in Summer Starfruit and punched out with the circle from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack. For the leaves I used the Secret Garden Framelits Dies and some Garden Green. The stems are floral wire and some Mini Glue Dots hold the flowers and Multipurpose Glue holds the leaves. For the middles I used Stampin’ Dimensionals for some depth. A poke with my Paper-Piercing Tool made putting them in the base quick and easy. The stamp around the bottom of the cage is also from the Madison Avenue Stamp Set and is stamped in Raspberry Ripple. I thought it needed some butterflies so I stamped them from the Bloomin’ Marvelous Stamp Set in Pool Party and punched them out with the Petite Butterfly Punch. Some Mini Glue Dots hold them in place. I wasn’t too sure about the flowers in the bird cage but I really like the way it looks. I think this will get to hang in my kitchen to remind that spring is on it’s way!

Fab Friday 10

Morning all! Happy Saturday! It is frigid here on Long Island today. We have been lucky so far with the weather but I fear our luck may have run out! I had a very nice dinner at TGI Friday’s last night with my friends Anthony and Danielle. We had some of the new Warm Pretzels with Craft Beer-Cheese Dipping Sauce… WOW! That was some good stuff! I could have had that and only that for dinner. I’m off to Manhattan this morning to meet my Kimmie and have some diner breakfast. I have to be back early because I have lots of stuff to do later on! Don’t forget to stop back for the Control Freaks Blog Tour!

Today’s post is for Fab Friday. This week the folks over there have given us a five color challenge…

Fab Friday Color 10

Pool Party is my fave and I love all of the other colors too. When I saw them I immediately thought of the Dress Up Framelits Dies. The base of my card is Very Vanilla Card Stock. The background consists of a piece of Pink Pirouette that I stamped in Pink Pirouette with the Secret Garden Stamp Set. I rounded the corners on it and a piece of Cherry Cobbler that I used to back it. I used the Dress Up Framelits Dies to cut out the dress form from a piece of Crumb Cake and the dress from a piece of Cherry Cobbler. A piece of Creped Filter Paper is cut out with the dress framelit again for the bottom half and a piece of Pool Party 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon makes the belt. I used some butterflies that I cut out with the beautiful Wings Embosslit in Pool Party for the ones on the right and Cherry Cobbler for the buckle. The greeting is from the Petite Pretties Stamp Set** and is stamped in Cherry Cobbler on Pool Party and punched out with the Petite Curly Label Punch. For a little bling I used some Basic Jewels Rhinestone to form a necklace. I really like the Creped Filter Paper over card stock. It has a fabric like texture and lets some of the card stock color show through. I hope that you enjoyed my Fab Friday card for their color challenge. Thank you very much for checking in and I hope that you have a crafty day! 🙂

Create with Connie and Mary 235

Woo hoo! It’s Friday! I mentioned yesterday that I was going into the city after work and that it would be a long day and it was. I managed to get to the city by 6:15 and go to my appointments and be home by 11:15, as a bonus I stayed awake on the train. It’s a balmy 26 degrees here this morning and that is way too cold for me! We are supposed to have a little bit of a cold spell for a while but hopefully it won’t last long! What are all of you up to for the weekend? I’m out to dinner with my friends Anthony and Danielle tonight then off to Manhattan tomorrow morning again. We have a little Control Freaks Blog hop coming up tomorrow evening too! 🙂

My post today is for this week’s Create with Connie and Mary Challenge. First I want to thank the lovely ladies for choosing me as one for the top three picks for last week’s challenge. You can see my original post here and the Create with Connie and Mary post here. Now on to this week. We have a sweet little sketch to interpret…

CCMC 235

The base for my card starts off with a piece of Tangerine Tango Card Stock with a piece Whisper White on top. I used a piece of Floral District Designer Series Paper in the middle for the background. Before I adhered the panel to the base I used some Sticky Strip to hold a piece of Lucky Limeade 3/8″ Ruffled Ribbon vertically on the right side. The panel in the middle is stamped with an image from the Everything Eleanor Stamp Set in Lucky Limeade. The main image is from the Patterned Occasions Stamp Set** and is stamped in Tangerine Tango. I used the 1 3/4″ Scallop Circle Punch to punch it out and adhered it to the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The little coordinating flowers are from the Itty Bitty Bits Stamp Set and are also stamped in Tangerine Tango. I punched them out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and some Stampin’ Dimensional pieces hold them in place. Finally, some Lucky Limeade Bakers Twine is used to hold on one of the buttons from the Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack**. I like the way the Floral District DSP coordinates with the stamped images. I hope that you like my Create with Connie and Mary Sketch Challenge card for this week. Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a fun Friday!

Freshly Made Sketches #69

Hello there! How are all of you doing today? I’m good, I have to run into Manhattan tonight after work so it’s going to be a very long day! I’m hoping to not sleep past my stop on the way home, I have done that before and it’s not fun at all! It was rainy and overcast here again yesterday and is supposed to get much colder. I think we are supposed to get some snow tonight too, hopefully only a dusting. On a side note the 2013 Spring Catalog is one of the featured catalogs on the Google Catalogs App for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Android devices. Go to your App Store and download your free copy and take the catalog with you!

For today’s post I have my Freshly Made Sketches Challenge card. This week our sketch is provided by Linda…

Freshly Made Sketches #69

A super clean and simple sketch indeed! In the spirt of trying to get some Valentine’s card ideas that’s what I went with. The base of my card is Whisper White Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of Pool Party on the bottom left and some Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper** on the top right. For some separation I punched out a piece of Primrose Petals with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch and used some 2-Way Glue to adhere it diagonally. The images are from the Hearts a Flutter Stamp Set and they are cut out with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits Dies. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them in place. The greeting is from the Seasonal Sayings Stamp Set and is stamped in Primrose Petals. I’m really liking the Pool Party and Primrose Petals together and the Sycamore Street DSP from Sale-A-Bration is one of the best yet! I hope that you “loved” my Freshly Made Sketches Challenge card for this week. I also hope that you are getting those lists ready for Sale-A-Bration, it’s almost here! Thanks for checking in with me and I hope you have a fun day! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew Sketch 25

Wednesday already?! Where is the week going? I have been a very busy boy all week, although it does mean that we are closer to Friday! LOL! I know, I’m a little obsessed with Friday! How is everyone today? I’m not too bad. It sleeted here a little last night but has turned to rain and is supposed to stop soon. I guess it’s winter again!

Today’s post is for this week’s Paper Craft Crew Challenge. This week have a sketch and color combo. I did the sketch but not the color combo…

PCCCS025-Sketch

Colors: Melon Mambo, Old Olive and Basic Gray

I wanted to use some Summer Starfruit and one of my favorite Designer Series papers, Comfort Café has it in it so I choose the rest of the colors from there. The base of the card is Soft Suede Card Stock. The background is a piece of Comfort Café Designer Series Paper. I backed it with some Very Vanilla to make it a little more ridgid so that it was easier to adhere the piece of Midnight Muse 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon around the back with some Sticky Strip. A strip of Midnight Muse embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder goes down the left side. I punched out some Cajun Craze with the Curly Label Punch and stamped them in Midnight Muse with an image from the Creative Elements Stamp Set. The hellos are form the Petite Pretties Stamp Set** and are stamped in Summer Starfruit. I used the Petite Curly Label Punch to punch them out and adhered them to the larger labels with SNAIL. They are then adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I like the way the the image from Creative Elements is similar to the pattern in the DSP and I love the colors! I hope that you enjoyed my Paper Craft Crew Design Team card for this week’s challenge. Click on over and see what the other deigners have in store for you and upload your card! Thanks, as always, for your visit and I hope that you have a very nice Wednesday!

Mojo 276 & Sneak Peek

Hello everyone! I had a very busy day yesterday, it was definitely a Monday. Work was crazy and it didn’t stop when I got home. I hope that you all had a better day. So, I have some more announcements for you today. Stampin’ Up! has just been rolling them out these past few days! Not that it’s a bad thing, after all they are celebrating their 25th Anniversary. First up we have a special promotion that will run all year long, it’s called the Best of 25 Years Stamps. Each month they will release a new stamp set for $14.95 that will include 3 – 5 stamps. There will be some old favorites along with a new stamp in each set and they will be available in Clear Mount only. The first set is called The Best of Birthdays…

Best of Birthdays 25th Year Flyer

You can click on the image above to download a PDF. As a special incentive to collect the Best of Stamps, starting in February they will be including a collector’s card and 25-year proof of purchase sticker with every Best of set. Collect six stickers, and send it in to redeem a FREE set of your choice valued up to $14.95! Free sets must be redeemed no later than April 30, 2014. How cool is that?! This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to collect a piece of Stampin’ Up! history.

The second announcement that I have to share with you today is the addition of ten more never before seen Single Stamps! These stamps are only available until March 31, 2013. These are some great images for you to add to you creative arsenal. Here are the two flyers…

Single Stamps Assortment 4

Click on either of the images above to download a PDF. I think they are great assortment of very different stamps and will come in handy for many different occasions. Don’t forget that you can only get them until March 31st!

Wow! That’s a lot of cool new product! Now on to today’s post which is for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. This time around we have a sketch from Carole Burrage…

Mojo276

I had a good idea what I was going to use when I saw the sketch. I have been looking through some magazines for some new color inspiration and I saw one with Rich Razzleberry, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White (that’s not what they called them but that’s what I saw!). The base of my card is Rich Razzleberry Card Stock. For the background on the left side I embossed a piece of Chocolate Chip and Old Olive with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The panel on the right is created using some Whisper White and an image from the Oh, Hello Stamp Set stamped in Rich Razzleberry. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect alignment! For the main panel I cut a piece of Whisper White to 2 1/2″ x 3″. I measured in 3/4″ on each side on the 3″ side, top and bottom, and measure down 1 1/4″ on each side of the 2 1/2″ side. I then used my Paper Trimmer to cut the corners off and made a large hexagon. The images are from the Bloomin’ Marvelous Stamp Set**. The leaves are stamped in Old Olive and the flowers are stamped in Rich Razzleberry and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them in place. They also hold the butterflies from the same set in the same color that I punched out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch and placed on the right panel. Finally, the greeting is from the Vintage Verses Stamp Set** and is stamped in Chocolate Chip. The colors bring to mind the garden and I love the worn look of the images form the Bloomin’ Marvelous Set. I hope that enjoyed all of the announcements and my card for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. Thank for stopping by and enjoy your day!

All Dressed Up Birthday & Special Announcements

Good morning everyone! How are we all doing this fine Monday morning? I’m doing well, I had a nice weekend with some fun time on Saturday and some creative time on Sunday. It was a very nicely balanced weekend, something that I am not usually able to achieve. So I don’t know if you noticed but I got a little bored with the blog look. I opened up My Digital Studio and played around and this is what I came up with. What do you think? I know Affection Collection is “Vintage” but it’s still one of my favorite sets. Leave me a comment to share your thoughts on the new look.

Before I get to today’s card I have two exciting things to share with you!

First up is the Dude! You’re Welcome Kit! A kit designed by men for men because “Real Men Build Cards” Check out the fun video…

Now off we go with today’s card. I saw the All Dressed Up Framelits, Pop’ n Cuts and Stamp Set in the Spring Catalog and thought now why would I order that?! That’s way too girly for me! Then I thought, well I have a lot of female friends that would probably appreciate a card made with these fashionable items, so I caved! I made this card for a friend of mine at work for her birthday. The base of the card is Primrose Petals Card Stock. I embossed a piece of Very Vanilla with the Elegant Bouquet Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The pretty dress and dressmakers stand are cut out with the Dress Up Framelits Dies, the stand in Crumb Cake and the dress from the Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack. A thin piece of Silver Glimmer Paper is used for the belt. The flower is Primrose Petals punched out with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and a Basic Jewels Rhinestone is adhered in the center. For the greeting I stamped the happy birthday from the Made for You Stamp Set in Gumball Green. The Print Poetry Designer Series Paper makes a great print for the dress and the card was super simple to make and my friend really liked it and I hope that you enjoyed it too! Thank you so much for spending some time with me today, I always appreciate your visit! Have a great day!

Paper Players Color Challenge #128

Happy Sunday peeps! I had a very nice time in Manhattan yesterday. Kim and I went to the diner for breakfast. After that we went down to the Village an wandered around. We stopped at Chelsea Market, which smelled divine. We wandered around and made our way up to Korea Town and had some Korean food for dinner. It was a nice nothing planned see where the day takes you kind of day. We didn’t get to the movies but that’s ok, we’ll see something next time.

Sunday also means that it’s time for another challenge from the Paper Players. This week we have a color challenge from Anne Marie…

Paper Player 128 1-13-2013

I puzzled over what to do for this one. I finally settled on a clean and simple card. The base of my card is Basic Gray Card Stock. For the background I embossed a piece of Daffodil Delight with the Argyle Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The main panel is stamped with an image from the You’re Amazing Stamp Set in Pacific Point. I used the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies to cut it and before it is adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals I pierced around the edge with the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool. The tickets across the bottom are from the Take a Ticket Stamp Set and are also stamped in Pacific Point. I punched them out with the Ticket Duo Builder Punch and adhered them with some more Stampin’ Dimensionals. I thought the card needed a little bling so I put some Basic Jewels Rhinestones on the main image. Who wouldn’t want to get a card proclaiming that they are amazing?!?! I hope that you enjoyed my Guest Designer card for this week’s Paper Player Color Challenge from Anne Marie. Oh, congratulations to Audrey for being my choice for Cut Above for last week’s challenge. Don’t forget to click on over to the Paper Players blog to see what the other designers have come up with and enter your card for us to see! Thanks for paying me a visit today. I hope you have a nice relaxing Sunday! 🙂
