Freshly Made Sketches & Display Stamper 6

Yeah! It’s FRIDAY! The week went a little slowly for me how about you? I’m off to the Hamptons this morning for work to visit the school that we have out there. We are leaving around 11:30am because there is usually a lot of weekend traffic that starts around 1:00pm. It’s supposed to be nice today so possibly some beach later with my friend Heather who is meeting me out there. πŸ™‚

Today’s post is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. There is also the last of my Hello, Lovely Display Projects at the end of the post. First up we have a sketch from the lovely Jen T….

Freshly Made Sketches #97

Nice and simple! I decided to use some of the things I learned from my friend Brian’s demonstration he gave at Convention about using color on Masculine cards. The base of my card is Sahara Sand Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper with that great houndstooth pattern in Tangerine Tango. I stamped the image for the main panel from the Remembering Christmas Stamp Set in Versa-Mark and heat embossed it with Early Espresso Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I knocked a little more of the powder off so it would have a slightly weathered look like the DSP. It’s backed with a piece of Early Espresso and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The two flags are stamped with one of the stamps from last month’s Paper Pumpkin in Early Espresso and Tangerine Tango. Finally the greeting is from the From My Heart Stamp Set and is stamped in Early Espresso and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits Dies. I love when you can use a stamp from a Christmas set for something else and the deer head is perfect for Masculine cards. The Tangerine Tango is great paired with the neutrals of Sahara Sand and Early Espresso and makes for a nice pop of color. Thanks so much for stopping by to see my Freshly Made Sketches card for this week’s challenge. Scroll down to the end of the post to see my last Display project for Hello, Lovely. I hope you have a lovely day! πŸ™‚

  1. Wow! The deer head looks amazing embossed in black on this Tangerine Tango card stock, and Sweater Weather is a perfect backdrop. What a perfect image for this sketch – big and bold. Love the placement of the sentiment, too. Have fun in the Hamptons!

  2. Wow! Nice masculine BD! The Hello Lovely box is cool! I’m gonna get some Tangerine Tango. I love the colors it matches with.LOL

  3. Remembering Christmas is my favorite set from the holiday catty. I love what you did here for a birthday card! I cant wait to get this set!

  5. Love that you’ve used this stamp set for something other than it was meant for. The embossed deer is so striking with that colour combo – fabulous card Justin! Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches this week!
