Paper Players 162

And there goes another weekend zipping by. Monday, why must you come so quickly?! I had a productive weekend so I can’t complain, got lots of projects finished and that is always good. I’m wishing this cold would go away, that would make me very happy indeed! How was your weekend? Did you do any fun last hurrah for the summer things?

Monday does mean that it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This week we have an interesting color combo from lovely LeAnne…

Paper Players #162

I had a little trouble deciding what to do at first, there are quite a few possibilities. In the end I went with a simple thank you card. For the base I used a piece of Basic Black Card Stock. The background is a piece of paper from the Brights Collection Designer Series Paper Stack. The main image and greeting are from the Gifts of Kindness Stamp Set, the flowers are stamped in Rich Razzleberry and the greeting in Basic Black. I backed it with a piece of Pool Party and a piece of Basic Black. The butterfly is from the Polka-dot Pieces Stamp Set and is also stamped in Rich Razzleberry and punched out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch. Two Subtles Designer Buttons make up the flower centers and some Basic Jewels Pearls give the butterfly a little oomph. I haven’t made a simple card like this one in a while and I love the combination of the stamp sets and DSP, they work quite well together. Thank you for stopping by to see my Paper Players card for this week’s color challenge from LeAnne. I hope you all have a good Monday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Justin – you say “simple”. This is not simple, my friend. This is layers and layers of beautiful paper craftily assembled. The layering of the frame is sublime. Love that you never let the RR and PP touch in the border. The BB frames it all perfectly. Nice card!

  2. I am new to your site and am not really sure what the Paper Players is all about, but I certainly LOVE your card!! It is simply gorgeous, Justin – clean and crisp.

    1. Thanks so much Louisa! Welcome, glad to have you visit!
The Paper Players is a weekly challenge blog. If you click on the link you can see a little more of what it’s about. Glad you enjoyed the card! Have a great day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Simply beautiful, Justin! I love flowers, butterflies and buttons and Rich Razz is my favourite colour so your card is right up my street! Hope your cold clears very soon (try cutting an onion in half, place it on a plate on your bedside table and when you wake your germs will be in the onion and not your nose! I would like to say this is an English remedy but I read it on an American website. It works really well for coughs and chest infections too).

  4. Just lovely, Justin! Polka dots never go out of style in my creative opinion, and you’ve combined the two sets so nicely, especially with that beautiful DP!! Thanks for playing with my colors this week!

  5. I LOVE this card. Perfectly balanced, Rich Razzleberry and Black are beautiful together, the Pool Party adds a bit of pizzazz! Very nice indeed. I too hope you are able to wave bye-bye to that nasty cold.

  6. Justin, Beautiful card!! I love all the polka dots and the way you used the colors is so pretty!! Thanks for the inspiration!

  7. WWWUUU! I like it!!! Nice job, Sweets! The Pool Party frame, just sets it off.
Can’t go wrong with “Butterflies”, and the O-Mighty Polka Dots! Just perfect, Darling!!!!!!!!

  8. Great card, Justin! *Love* the coordination of the polka dot element throughout (background, flower, and butterfly) and the way you incorporated Pool Party into your design!

  9. Justin, this isn’t just simply…it’s simply elegant! Love just a touch of Pool Party in the buttons and border. What a perfect way to feature this beautiful stamp! So glad you joined us again this week at The Paper Players!
