Pals Paper Arts 189

Ahh… Saturday, your lack of work makes you a wonderful day! LOL! I had an ok day at work yesterday. I got a box of goodies from Stampin’ Up! which is always nice. I came home and mounted some stamp sets and checked some stuff on the computer. Around 6:45 I went over and met up with Brian and we waited for Heather to come and get us so we could go to dinner. We ended up at Chili’s and I have to say that the portion sizes have gotten noticeably smaller, not that it’s a bad thing but there is definitely a lot less on the plate! After dinner we stopped at Walmart to pick up a few things. I have been looking for a backpack to take with me to Manhattan when I have my little overnight stays and I found one that I think I like. Then I stopped at Starbucks on my way home and saw my friend Meghan. Got home, let Winston out and thought about doing some stuff but changed my mind and decided to relax for a bit instead. All in all a pretty good day!

I just thought I would mention the Paper Pumpkin promotion that Stampin’ Up! has going on right now. If you sign up by February 10th you will get a free set on 2012-2014 In-Color Markers. You can sign up by clicking HERE. You will definitely not be disappointed with the February and March Kits, we got a preview at Leadership and they are great, I have actually ordered two of each! 🙂

Now on to today’s card which is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts. This week Nicole has given us an interesting sketch…

PPA 189

My card begins with a base of Gumball Green Card Stock. The first panel is a piece of Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper backed with some Island Indigo. The strip across the bottom is also from the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper Pack and is backed with a piece of Smoky Slate. I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere it to the base and used the Angled Tag Topper Punch to make my tag. The greeting is from the Love You to the Moon Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo. A piece of Daffodil Delight 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon is tied with a piece of White Bakers Twine on the tag. A few random Basic Jewels Rhinestones scattered across the Moon finish the card. I was trying to think of a way to use the stamp and I think that a tag is perfect! But then again, I’m a little obsessed with tags lately! Thank you so much for stopping by to see my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. I hope you enjoyed the card and that you have a great Saturday! 🙂

  1. I LOVE this card, Justin! It’s CAS, yet has a fun, unexpected color combo and shows off the watercolor dsp perfectly. I love that paper, but have had a hard time figuring out how to use it. Beautifully done!

  2. HI Justin! I love your card! (Tired of me saying that yet???) I have always liked this color combo you used. And the tag topper punches are my faves! Love those! Any chance you can let me know what the February & March PP are about? They must be good if you’ve ordered a couple of them. You can send an email directly to me as not to spoil it for the others. If you’re not able to tell me, I’ll have to be patient, which isn’t a good quality of mine. 🙂 Thanks Justin and enjoy your Saturday!

    1. Hi Karen!

Nope, never get tired of hearing you say that! I’m slightly obsessed with the Tag Topper Punches at the moment! I really wish I could tell you, but I can’t! Just trust me that they are really good! I would never steer you wrong! I hope that you had a nice Saturday! 🙂

  3. Good morning Justin! Normally when I read your blog I try to *make* myself read the description first so I can try to visualize the card before actually seeing it. Of course that never works entirely because as I read down it starts to show 🙂 As soon as I saw ‘gumball green’ – it was all over and I went back to read it afterwards! I love the color, I just never know what to do with it. I knew you’d have a great idea, and you did! Thanks for another good idea with color and style – the grosgrain ribbon tied with baker’s twine was unexpected and a perfect tiny touch! Have a great Saturday!

    1. Hello Kay!
LOL! Maybe I should move the card to the end! You are not the first person to tell me that! I too love Gumball Green! I’m happy you like the card! I am not a big ribbon or bow fan but I do like it tied with the bakers twine. I had a nice Saturday and hope that you did too! 🙂

  4. For some reason this card reminded me of Spring! If I were to categorize this card I’d file it under “happy”. Just a beautiful bold yet soft look. I love it.

  5. First I am in love with this water color paper, but the best is the jewels on the moon. So funny what Kay said about reading the description first. I have tried that too. Usually I go back and forth and look and read and look, etc. Great card! Enjoy your weekend, stay warm. 🙂

    1. Yes Nancy, the Watercolor Wonder DSP is great! I thought the card needed just a little sparkle, I’m glad you agree! I hope that you are having a nice weekend! 🙂

  6. Yippee my order came Friday! But……I haven’t been able to unpack it yet. I am reserving all day Sunday to play. I am so in love with the Watercolor DSP. Liking the bling on the moon. Very nice card.

  7. Wow, that card just grabs you at first glance! Love the colors, the stamps you used, the DSP….. well everything about it.

  8. Love that you used a tag for the central shape of this sketch! Beautiful colors, Justin! Thanks for playing along with the PPA sketch this week.

  9. Wow! What a wonderful execution of the sketch, Justin! I love the tag and the great color combination. It’s such a clean and classy card. Thanks for playing with the Pals at Pals Paper Arts!

  10. Very “crafty” of you to use a tag for the top layer! Great idea!!! I’m glad you found my sketch “interesting” 😉 Thanks for playing along with PPA!!
