Paper Players 179

Exciting news people, it’s Thursday already! Yesterday was a pretty good day. I went and picked up Andrew and took him to LaGuardia for his flight to Los Angeles. It took me less time to drive there than it did to get home from work last night, and I work 10 minutes from my house! The roads around here are not in good shape but the parkways are great. Couple that with the fact that a lot of people didn’t got to work yesterday and it was almost a perfect ride to and from the airport. I had one minor glitch, apparently I had no washer fluid left so my windshield was white the whole time! Not very good especially when the sun hit it. I managed to get home in one piece and promptly filled up the reservoir. Work was good, it was only from 12:00 to 5:00 today, every day should be like that! Andrew’s flight left 25 minutes late but they got to LA on time. I hope he has a great time!

I’m very late this week posting my Paper Players card, not sure what happened! LOL!. This week the challenge is a clean and simple one layer card from wonderful Sandy…

Paper Players #179

I had a little vision when I read the challenge and then I kept forgetting to make the card! LOL! My card base is Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Fine Feathers Stamp Set to heat emboss the image on the base using White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Some Island Indigo and Garden Green are applied using eye shadow sponges to give it color. My greeting is from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set (apparently a favorite of mine this week!) and is stamped in Island Indigo. It doesn’t get much cleaner or simpler than that! I really love the way the feather looks with inks sponged, I used the eye shadow applicators to get a little more precise control. There is my card for this week’s Paper Players CAS One Layer challenge. I really hope that you enjoyed it and thanks for sharing in my day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. What a cool tool tip! Using eye shadow applicators to precisely apply the color. Just proves you can use ordinary everyday items to help create wonderful paper crafts. I absolutely love this card. Just because! LOL The font in the sentiment is one of my favorites.

  2. Love this, Justin! That feather is gorgeous embossed and sponged, and I agree that the eye shadow applicators are a great idea. Beautiful CAS one layer card.

  3. My boy and I were up there a couple of weeks ago to see Annie on Broadway (yeah, he spoils me and we were the only childless couple there I think lol) and it was cold/snow on the ground here (Alexandria, VA) and there, so my windshield wiper fluid never defrosted!! We stopped a couple times at gas stations (inc Hoboken?), but the fluids there was frozen, too! So we had to pour bottled water down the windshield and wipe it REALLY quick as it froze within 3 or 4 seconds!!

    1. LOL! I just saw Annie recently with a friend, I thought it was good! I literally couldn’t see almost the entire way because I had the exact same issues as you! It was really bad! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Love the card Justin – CAS is sometimes much more difficult than when there are layers. I do love the font of the “just because” like Lisa does. I also like the “just because” as many times I want to send a card for no reason other than I was thinking of someone but the “thinking of you” stamp just doesn’t feel right. It’s been a long time since I’ve done a single layer card – I think I need to challenge myself and make a few just to keep the old brain a workin’. LOL

    1. Thank you Grace! It did take me a little time, I do like a lot of stuff most of the time, it was hard to resist some rhinestones! I like the whole A Dozen Thoughts set, especially that one. I did have fun making the card and I do love the Fine Feathers set! I wish they had Framelits! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Oh, my gosh, Justin!!! That is gorgeous!!! Have always loved both the feather and sentiment–what a genius interpretation–putting the two together!!!! What an artistic eye you have!! !Going to CASE it right now!!!!!

  6. I love it ! I have this stamp set and was trying to shade and color that beautiful Peacock feather in the center but, I was using a Q tip and I like the eye shadow applicator tip better .
    Pretty pretty card !

  7. Hi there Justin! This is a beautiful card! The blues and greens are gorgeous! Great tip on using eye shadow sponges. I will save those now instead of throwing away! ๐Ÿ˜‰ I love that stamp set also and there’s no better reason to send a card to someone “just because”. Have a great day!

    1. Hello Karen!
Thank you! I am a big blue/green fan! Glad you found the applicators tip helpful. Who doesn’t like to get a just because card?!?! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. OMGoodness…..I am IN LOVE with this card! SO simple and beautiful! Stunning colors and image…and a great tip about the eye shadow applicators! Thanks for playing!

  9. OK, I can’t decide what is more ingenious…your use of the feathers stamp or applying color with an eyeshadow applicator…OMG! Wicked clever on both counts. Adore this, Justin. What a fabulous way to color the feather and make it pop–gorgeous! So glad you joined us at The Paper Players!

    1. Thank you very much Nance! I love the Fine Feathers Set and I don’t use it enough, I thought that the challenge would be perfect for it! ๐Ÿ™‚
