Mojo Monday 332

Thursday, February 13, 2014. another snowy day here on Long Island. We have gotten about 3 inches of snow so far and then it’s turning to rain and then back to snow so tomorrow morning should be fun! LOL! I did have a great time in Brooklyn last night. Heather and I went to Kimchi Grill for some Korean barbecue. It was delicious, nice and spicy! After that we headed to Starbucks for some coffee to warm up and then off to see Andrew and Satellite Lane at The Way Station. It’s a Doctor Who themed bar and the bathroom is a tardis! Their set was great as usual and I’m proud to say I’m a big fan. If you didn’t check out their YouTube channel yet, you definitely should. Click HERE to go and take a look. Pretty awesome, right?!

Today’s post is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge provided by Debbie Carriere…

Mojo332

Pretty neat sketch, I do love the tag. My card base is Night of Navy Card Stock and my background is a piece of Crumb Cake stamped with the Hardwood Background Stamp in Soft Suede. Across the middle is a strip of Soft Suede that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The tag is another piece of Night of Navy, I angled the top myself and heat embossed the greeting from the Perfect Blend Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The coffee cup and band are also from the same set, are stamped in Soft Suede on Whisper White and Crumb Cake and both of them are cut out with my Paper Snips. The “happy birthday” is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set, stamped in Night of Navy with the left side flagged. The three buttons are Basic Metal Buttons and are adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue. My tag and all of the pieces are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I thought I would step away from my Valentine trend and make a masculine birthday card from this sketch. I really really like the Woodgrain Background Stamp and the Perfect Blend Stamp Set is one of my favorites, too! I also haven’t used Night of Navy in a while because I tend to go for Midnight Muse. I do appreciate you stopping by to see my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. I hope you’re inspired to give this fun sketch a try! Here’s to no more snow and a great Thursday!

  1. Hi Justin,
This card is awesome! It all flows so nicely together! Just perfect! Unfortunately, there will be no doctor appointments for me today, so I’ll continue to do just what I’m doing. Stay safe, warm and dry. Have a great day! 🙂 Donna

    1. Hello Donna!
Thanks so much! You are getting a lot of snow by you too. Are you feeling any better? I hope that you are and that you have a great day too! 🙂

  2. How great this card ties in with your outing from last night. The food sounds delish and I love me some Starbucks. I checked out the YouTube link, great. There’s that Crumb Cake again, goes with everything. Like the 3 metal buttons along with embossing for texture. My Woodgrain stamp arrived yesterday can’t wait to play with it.

    1. Yes Lisa! The colors and the coffee were right on! The food was awesome and I have a serious Starbucks addiction! Satellite Lane is a pretty good group! It’s so nice to be able to go and see them so much! Crumb Cake is the ultimate neutral wouldn’t you say?! The Hardwood stamp is awesome, have fun! 🙂

  3. This card is a real winner ! Love that Hardwood background stamp …it`s on my growing wish list . I will check out the YouTube…I have a friend that is a huge Dr, Who fan . This card is so masculine but, doesn`t have any skid marks ,trucks, or Hey Dude on it ….how refreshing !

    1. Thank you Sonny! The Hardwood is a pretty great stamp! The group is great, that are one of my favorites! I don’t watch Dr. Who but the bar was neat! I don’t think we need to junk up a card with “regular” manly stuff to make it manly! LOL! 🙂

  4. Great color / texture / stamp combination! Too bad I don’t own the coffee cup stamp, I would love to copy this one… 😉

  5. Love your card, the colours, stamps, adding both to my wish list as well, Stay safe, we hear there’s a huge storm heading to the east, not sure if NYC is in the path.

    1. Thank you Lynne! Yes, we are in the midst of the storm now. The snowflakes this morning were huge! We got out of work early so now I get to be crafty! 🙂

  6. HI Justin:
I checked out the website and you’re right. The group is great! It’s nice that you have shown us photos of Andrew so we could pick him right out. Sounds like you had a really fun evening. Good for you. Your card is the best masculine card I’ve seen in ages. The color combo is fabulous and the coffee cup is the perfect stamp. When I looked at the card I thought of the friends I have that are carpenters. I can’t imagine a better card than yours for them. It’s snowing like mad here. Good day for cookie baking, soup making or ironing and yet I will spend the afternoon stamping. LOL I love retirement!

    1. Hello Grace!
They are really good! I really enjoy seeing them preform! Don’t tell Andrew but I think that he has an amazing voice! LOL! It was a very good time. Thank you! I needed something nice and masculine after all of the Valentines! It is now raining here, we had the huge snowflakes this morning. I will spend some time now stamping! There are plenty of other things I could be doing too, but I got out of work early so it’s a “freebie”! Enjoy the rest of your day! 🙂
