Mojo 335

Well, all of that snow that we were supposed to get yesterday didn’t happen! Woo hoo! We got a dusting and it’s so cold here that none of it went away but that’s ok! Yesterday wasn’t too bad for a Monday. I got some things done at work and we had to go to Canon for a copier demonstration, our one is a piece of junk. We got the entire history of all of Canon’s products, not sure if that was necessary! After work I had card class at Sandy’s, always a good time. I came home and made the card that you are about to see here today. Once again I was lucky and put it together in my head before I got home! Love when that happens!

Before we get today’s post easy week Stampin’ Up! has some specials on current products and here is what they have for this week:

So, today’s card is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge and Julee Tilman has given us a fun one to work with this week…

I saw the element in the middle as a big frame! It was also funny the way the background is split, I just did something similar yesterday! The base of my card is Basic Black Card Stock. My background on the left is a piece of paper from the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper pack, I also used a different piece for the inside of the frame. On the right is a piece of Pool Party that I embossed with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. For the frame I used a piece of Sahara Sand and stamped it in Basic Black with the Dictionary Background Stamp. A piece of Summer Starfruit Twine from the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack is tied in a bow around the top. My greeting is from the A Dozen Thoughts Stamp Set and is stamped in Basic Back and the left side is flagged. The two flowers are from the Petal Parade Stamp Set and are stamped in Crisp Cantaloupe and Summer Starfruit, the smaller flower is punched out with the 1 1/2″ Circle Punch and the larger one with the 1 3/4″ Circle Punch. Both the frame and the flowers are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I know I’ve said it before but I really do love the colors in the Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper and the Dictionary Stamp is still one of my all time favorites! And that is my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. Thanks so much for coming by to see it and I hope you all have a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

  1. A frame is exactly the same thing I immediately saw also. I picked up that you used a different pattern of DSP to highlight behind the frame. Nice concept. Like how the EB folder flows right into the DSP paper and mimics each other. The black card base makes all the elements pop. Very nice.

    1. Great minds Lisa! I really do love the DSP and the EF! I don’t usually do a black base but it does frame everything nicely! Thank you very much!! I hope that you have a great day! 🙂

  2. Wow!! The star of this card for me is the dictionary stamp. Amazing how it grounds all the other colors and patterns. I cheat and use a page from a real dictionary bought from my local library used book sale.

    1. Thank you Rosemarie! I agree, I love that stamp! That’s not cheating, it’s what Shelli told us to do at Convention last year! 🙂

  3. Fabulous card. I like the way you had it put together in your head before getting home ….

  4. Hi Justin! What a pretty card. Love that Sweet Sorbet paper and the way you used the different patterns of it. It is a happy card! Have a great day!

  5. Love every little detail of this card. Beautiful. It was like finding Waldo. Your attention to detail was super. A real favorite! 🙂

    1. Thank you Crystal! The DSP has the best colors in it! I’m glad to hear that you can put a card together in your head too! 🙂

  6. I am so very fond of the Sweet Sorbet, as well. It’s like you can turn it any which way, back or front and it just blends into itself perfectly! As Nancy said, picking out each individual piece that you added was fun. Thanks again for taking the time to do this and post it each day!

    1. Me too Kay! They really did a great job with the DSP. Thank you for taking the time to come by and see me and comment! It makes my day! 🙂

  7. Another very cool card Justin. When I saw the sketch I thought of a Polaroid frame for some reason (although the proportions are not quite right)…. don’t know if I’ll find enough time to make one this week….but will try.

    1. Thank you Louise! I too thought of the Polaroid Frame (as you can see!) I hope you do get to try the sketch, love to see your take on it! 🙂

  8. Fabulously framed-out collage card Justin!! All the elements you chose are so complimentary and this DSP is awesome!! TFS!!! 🙂

  9. This is what happens when I miss a few days-you sneak in this great card. I’m so excited to see it because I just ordered some of these same elements with which to make this card. Yay! Love your style, Justin! The Sweet Sorbet and Petal Parade are super.

    1. LOL! I’m sad that you missed a few days Georgie! The Sale-A-Bration goodies are great! Thanks for stopping back! Have a great evening! 🙂
