Fab Friday 40 & Bonus!

Sometimes a word that begins with F can be bad, but sometimes it can be good… really good, as in FRIDAY!!!! Oh how I have been looking froward to this F word all week! LOL! Work was pretty quiet yesterday, a nice change from most days, and greatly appreciated! After work I came home and worked on a few projects and watched a little TV. I have decided that giving up TV all together was a bad idea. My brain needs to rest and that seems to be the only time it does, when I sit in front of the TV. It was really windy here yesterday again. When the wind did stop for a second or two it was actually quite nice. Let’s hope that it’s done for now! I also discovered that Stampin’ Up! has Pinned my card to their April Paper Pumpkin Board! How cool is that?!?! You can see it HERE! Oh, I have a little extra project for you today too! It will be at the very end after all of the other stuff so make you scroll down to see it!

Don’t forget that today is also the last day for FREE Shipping! 🙂

Today I’m over on the Fab Friday blog for our color challenge. We have a very different color combo for you…

Fab Fri 40 Sketch 4-25-2014

I did a few different things before I finally came up with my card. Sometimes that’s just how it goes right?! My card base is actually Crumb Cake Card Stock. My background covers the entire front of the card so you can’t really see it. Speaking of the background, it’s a piece of Early Espresso Core’dinations. Again, I just love the texture on the card stock! Next up is a piece of Summer Starfruit that I rounded the corners on and then embossed it with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The large circle is a piece of Smoky Slate that I punched out with the 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. The script on it and the greeting are form the Notable Notions Stamp Set. The script is stamped in Smoky Slate and the greeting in Early Espresso on a piece of Crisp Cantaloupe that I punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. The cute little bee is from the soon to be “Vintage” Stamp Set Backyard Basics. He is stamped in Early Espresso on Summer Starfruit and cut out with the matching Backyard Basics Framelits. Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere all of the pieces to the card and one another. Finally I scattered some iridescent gray sequins around to finish the card. It’s definitely not a color combo that I would have thought to put together but it’s sort of fun don’t you think?! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for the Fab Friday color challenge. Take a minute to go over to the blog and see the projects that my fellow Design Team members have for you and enter your card in the gallery for us to see your interpretation. I wish you all very good Friday and thank you for stopping by! 🙂

  1. Love the scrapbook page. Maybe it will become an album cover! Congrats on your card being posted. It looks so sharp on the page. I like your card and love that “you make me smile” the best. Have a great weekend. 🙂

    1. Thank you Nancy! Wouldn’t that be cool! LOL! I was quite happy to see that my card was posted on the Stampin’ Up! Paper Pumpkin page! The greeting is pretty awesome! You have a great weekend too! 🙂

  2. How cool is that? Way Cool! Congrats on getting your card pinned. Like the simplicity of todays card. Also all the roundness. Does that make sense? I’m not too upset to see Summer Starfruit go, never warmed up to it. Nice use of the soon to be ‘vintage’ products. Love your tribute to Satellite Lane with your layout. Justin, after a long week, enjoy a nice long weekend.

    1. Thank you Lisa! Yes, it was pretty neat! Yes, I understand the roundness, that’s why I rounded the corners on the Honeycomb piece too. I will miss Summer Starfruit, I actually grew to like the color! I will miss some of the the sets but I am looking forward to seeing the new stuff! I am hoping that it feels like a very long weekend! 🙂

  3. Hi Justin and welcome to your long-awaited Friday! This is a great card and I would have never thought to put those colors together but you’ve made it work! And need I mention the sequins?? 🙂 Love those! You and Brian must have been on the same wave length today as you used the same sentiment on your cards. You did a fabulous job on the scrapbook pages for Satellite Lane! Have a great day!

    1. Hello Karen!
Yes, it took a long time to get here but it was worth the wait! The colors are unusual this week but I like that! I too love the sequins! I saw that Brian and I were in sync today, funny when that happens! I’m glad that you enjoyed the scrapbook page too! I hope you are having a good Friday too! 🙂

  4. Hi Justin:
Looks like you made a great gift for Satellite Lane. If I were you I would frame the 8 X 8 page, wrap it in fab paper and use the card you made to go with it as a gift to Andrew. He would love it and treasure it I’m sure. I know I would. Hope you have a fantastic weekend and get to enjoy some good weather. We are expecting rain both Saturday and Sunday but today is going to be fantastic!

    1. Hello Grace!
I will give it to Andrew but he has already seen it, he’s and avid blog reader don’t you know! It’s supposed to rain tonight but that’s ok, I have a lot of projects to make this weekend! I hope it’s nice Monday for the ride to CT! 🙂

      1. Little change of plans – I”m driving down on the 4th of May. Gives me another week to prepare, thankfully as am not even close to being ready. LOL
