Catherine & Cathy Create 31

First let me apologize for the email that you received about my post last night. I was trying to productive and type my post on the train on the way into Manhattan and I accidentally posted it instead of saving it as a draft. Such a dunce! LOL! This is the actual real post, so sorry again. From now on we type the posts on the phone in Evernote and not the WordPress App! Speaking of Manhattan, dinner was good and the show was excellent as always! As soon as I have some time I’ll post some of the video here. Oh and it poured non stop. By the time I did get home I could actually wring the water out of my pants. I only got to take one picture outside the venue. It was under an awning, the only dry place to be had as there was a leak in part of the ceiling in Tammany Hall too. It’s just the street but I find that you can see so much in Manhattan just looking down the street…

Outside Tammany Hall

Nothing exciting, just some buildings and cars. I do think that the buildings in Manhattan are neat, there are no two that are exactly alike. Not the most exciting picture but a little view of what I saw last night. 🙂

Today I’m over on the Catherine & Cathy Create blog for the monthly challenge…

CCC Challenge General Logo

I have had the Natural Composition Designer Series Paper forever and I think I have only used it once! Seeing as it’s going “Vintage” I thought I should use it now! The base of my card starts off with a piece of Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of the Naturals Composition Designer Series Paper. My main panel is also Whisper White. The letters may look familiar, they are the ones that were cut out of yesterday’s card! I used some 2-Way Glue to adhere them. A piece of Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape goes across the middle and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the base. The two large stars are from the Simply Starts Stamp Set are stamped in Bermuda Bay. I used the “Vintage” Large Star Punch to punch them out. The small gold stars are Gold Foil Sheet and that are punched out with the Merry Minis Punch Pack. For the medium star I used some Champagne Glimmer Paper and the star from the Circle Card Thinlits. My greeting is from the Hello, Lovely Stamp Set, I selectively stamped just the “Lovely” and heat embossed it in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold all of the elements to the panel. I really like the bright white, blue and gold against the kraft color of the Designer Series Paper. I’m a little bummed that I didn’t use it more! You can go and see what the rest of the Design Team have come up with for the challenge by taking a little visit to the blog. Did you enjoy today’s card? Let me know what you thought by leaving a comment. Thanks for taking the time to come and see me! Have a fantastic Thursday!

  1. Funny, I never noticed that DSP. Love it too. OH Well. That was great using the hello from yesterday. I enjoyed this card. Lets keep dry today. 🙂

    1. Thanks Nancy! I have had it for a long time and I just forget about it! I was digging for something and came across it! I do like to make sure that I don’t waste stuff, especially letters! Although, with the new alphabet framelits I will be using letters a lot more! It wasn’t raining when I left the house this morning but it’s still really gloomy! Have a good day! 🙂

  2. Awesome card, Justin….love the colors and that paper is cool, I am sad to see it go. Love how you used the letters today too! But my favorite part of your post is the “corsets” sign on the shop front. Now, THAT’S vintage!

    1. Thank you LeAnne! Now that I have finally remembered that I have it I’m sad to see it go too! I am so happy that you like the picture!! That is awesome that you saw the corset sign too!! Yeah!! Have a great day my friend! 🙂

  3. Hi Justin! Did you get your pre-order in this morning? My first look at the catalog was this morning…there are some wonderful things in there!! Nice pic from last night, I so enjoy when you share those with us. Glad you had a good time, despite the rain. I love this card!! I am sad that SImply Stars is gone but hello star framelits! Yay! I really like the bermuda and gold/champagne accents you use. Just lovely! 😉 Have a great day!

    1. Hello Karen!
I did get my pre-order in this morning. I was tired and I ordered way too much!! Did you do yours? The picture wasn’t the most exciting but I was curious to see what people would see in it! A little rain, well, a lot of rain wasn’t going to dampen my evening! LOL! Can you tell that I’m tired?! I will miss Simply Stars too but I’m psyched about the Star Framelits!! So happy you enjoyed the card, I love the colors together too! Have a wonderful day!! 🙂

      1. I did get mine in as well with expedited shipping, of course! It’s gonna be a long weekend! 😉 Funny you are wondering what people saw in your picture…I was gonna mention that the shop that has the lights on it looks like someone’s legs are up in the air. I’m sure that’s not what it is but it made me laugh anyhow!

        1. LOL! I never expedite but I figured I could have a little fun over the weekend! I have to tell you that I saw the same thing in the picture that you did! LOL! 🙂

  4. Hello! You have been busy and getting busier! Natural Composition is one of my all time favorite DSPs and I have been hoarding it. It simply goes with everything. You guys are dropping all kinds of hints of what the new catalog has in store! Star and Alphabet Framelits, oh my! Your card today looks so simple, but you put a lot of work into it. Results are great! You have lots of music on your mind in one way or another. Enjoy the rest of the week — it’s dryer here already. Nancy B

    1. Hi Nancy!
Yes, I have been way too busy lately but it’s all good stuff! I bought a pack of the Naturals when it first came out and I used it once, now regret not using it more! We are trying to give you a big sneak peek! I love it when there is a lot on a card but it still feels simple. Thank you! I definitely am a huge music fan and I do really enjoy seeing Andrew sing with the rest of the group, he’s quite tainted! I hope you enjoy the rest of your week too. It was absolutely lovely here this afternoon! Spring has finally come!

  5. Hi Justin:
Glad you didn’t melt in all that rain you had. We are getting it all today and boy, it’s really coming down. It would be a perfect day to go through the new catty but, since I’m not a demo, I have to wait patiently! LOL
I bet you can’t guess what my favorite part of your card is today – Shazam! You’re right, it’s the glittery star. LOL Fabulous color combo and a beautiful card. Great job, as always.

    1. Hello Grace!
I almost did melt, or at least I felt like I was! LOL! It was pouring here all day but especially at night. You are going to love the Catalog! I placed my pre-order early this morning and did net day, probably because I was so tired! I knew you would like the glimmer star, it just needed it! Thank you very much! Have a nice evening! 🙂

  6. Justin, I really like this card. I like that you used the Natural compsition dsp as a subtle background. It allows all the other elements to pop off.
I know what you mean about the rain! Oh my goodness! Yesterday was just yucky! No other word to describe it as!
I stayed up until 2am so I could check out the preorder and take a look at the new catty! I love the catty! They did a great job with it this year! I am so excited about a lot of the new products! Yay for star framelits…and the alpha stamps!!
I did put in an order…lets just say I don’t have to worry about my minimums this quarter!
    I wanted it all!
Hopefully the rain is done for you now…it stopped around 2 or 3 this morning
Thanks for the pics and for sharing your talent with us!
    Donna

    1. Thank you very much Donna! I thought it made the card stand out a lot too! The rain was definitely not fun but at least it wash;t snow! I was up until 1:00 and then I just had to go to sleep, but I did have my order in by 6:15am and it shipped by 11:00! The Catalog is fantastic! I especially love the cover! Star Framelits and the Alpha Framelits are my faves! It was absolutely gorgeous here after 12:00pm. The sun is shining and it’s 68 degrees! Enjoy your evening my friend! 🙂

  7. Oh my gosh! I absolutely LOVE this card!!! Can you tell me how you used your e-cutter? I have a cameo but I haven’t yet been able to use it much for my SU stuff. Did you stamp and then cut? Use a “punch” from MDS? Do tell! I need to use my cutter more.

    1. Yeah! Thank you Theresa! I used the SVG files and merge them into the Silhouette Designer Edition Software. You can then do all kinds of fun stuff with them! I hope that makes sense! 🙂

  8. LOL I saw the post yesterday and thought a virus attacked. This card is a beauty…..well worth waiting for. Love that Natural paper….sad to see it go, but with so many new goodies I won’t be sad for too long

    1. Ha! I just a little silly sometimes Linda! Thanks! I am sad to see the DSP go too, but yes, we won’t be sad for long! 😉
