Freshly Made Sketches 135

That was a very good Friday! I got to go on my 50+ mile field trip and enjoyed it thoroughly even though it was gloomy. I got a lot accomplished at the office too, a very productive day. Anthony, Bill and I went to Friday’s for dinner and we waited to sit with our favorite waitress Meg. Since it’s Mother’s Day weekend they had a special, 1/2 price bottles of wine so we thought why not! We had the Cupcake Pinot Noir, delicious! After dinner we ran to Target because Anthony needed some stuff. I picked up some Watermelon Oreos and Birthday Cake M&M’s. We tried the M&M’s and they are quite yummy! I’ll let you know about the Watermelon Oreos! How was your Friday? I hope that it was just as good as mine! I also have an extra card for you today so be sure to scroll down after you see today’s post!

The post that I have for you today is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches. The sketch this week is brought to us by the talented Narelle…

Freshly Made Sketches #135

A neat layout that would work for any kind of card. I decided that I would do a masculine birthday card. You can never have too many cards on hand ready to go right?! I also wanted to combine a new favorite with some old ones. My card starts off with a base of Early Espresso Card Stock and the background is a piece of Summer Starfruit that I embossed with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. My panel is a piece of the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper that is backed with some Island Indigo and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. That great suitcase is from the Traveler Stamp Set* and is stamped in Early Espresso, I cut it out with my Paper Snips and adhered the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals too. My greeting comes from the Four You Stamp Set and is stamped in Island Indigo. Tucked under it are three flags that I cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits from a piece of Gold Foil Sheet. The detail in the stamps from the Traveler Set is quite amazing as you can see in the closeup picture and I will miss Summer Starfruit and the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper. But there will be plenty of new stuff to play with and I will get to make new favorites! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I’m always happy to share some of my day with you! Make sure that you do something fun and have a great Saturday! 🙂

  1. Hey Justin! Your man card is just so cool – you’re right, you can never have too many in your stash Love the mix of old and new and the textured background adds so much interest! I’m totally loving your colouring with the blendabilities – I want, want, want them in Australia now!!!

    1. Thank you Narelle! Great sketch! I can’t wait to see what you do with the Blendabilities!! Have a great weekend! 🙂

  2. I like the first card …it has so many points of interest ,but your second card is a beauty! So rich in color and just as you said the image has a look of depth through the blending . The second card is one you would want to frame ! Happy Saturday !

  3. Hi Justin! I’m still thinking about watermelon oreo’s?? Let us know how they are. For me, just about any flavor of M & M’s is good! 😉 Two great cards today!! You did such a great job cutting out that suitcase, for a minute I thought I’d missed the matching framelits to that stamp set. And oh my—that flower is just gorgeous!! So pretty! Thanks for the double-dose of inspiration today! Have a great day!

    1. Hello Karen!
LOL! I know, I need to go and have one but I had the hot boneless wings and my tummy is a little bubbly! The M&M’s were delicious! They taste just like chocolate cake! I do enjoy a little fussy cutting! I am going to have to color some more today! Enjoy your Saturday my friend! 🙂

  4. Not only are your cards attention getters but I took a double look on the Oreos. Watermelon got my attention. Haven’t seen them anywhere around my area of Ohio. I will now be on the hunt. Any M&M’s to me are good. I’ve been tempted to buy some Cupcake wine didn’t know how it would be. Pinot Noir, is it dry or sweet? Okay I need to get back to your fabulous cards. The Traveler set to me is Steampunk and I think it’s pretty neat. Really liked your card yesterday using the Steamliner image from the same set. Hope I can color as well as you do with my Blendabilites. Your picture is so beautiful and I bet it’s even more beautiful in person. I did receive my preorder yesterday with all my goodies. Can’t wait to start coloring. Hope your tummy can get de-bubbled. If that’s even a word LOL

    1. LOL! Thanks Lisa! I have sampled the Oreos and they are quite tasty! Yes, any M&M’s are good ones! Pinot Noir is dry, I’m not a fan of sweet wines. The best Pinot Noir I have had is MacMurray Ranch. I just love the vintage feel to the Traveler Stamp Set. I’m sure you will be a pro with the Blendabilities! I really do love the way that flower came out! And it wasn’t too difficult! Have fun with your pre-order and yes, my tummy de-bubbled! Have a nice evening! 🙂

  5. Justin, I love both of your cards! I love the manly card! There is so much texture on it, it’s great! I love that flower! I have been playing with mine and the blendabilities! I am crazy about those markers! They make it so easy to add such drama your stamping!
As you know, I am in the middle on construction and my space is out of whack! But I couldn’t take it one minute more yesterday and I MADE space to stamp! I used the new hostess set, Bloom with hope, such a great stamp set! If you don’t have it, I highly recommend it! It is great with the blendabilities!
Today is beautiful and hot! I love it! We are going out to eat tonight for Mother’s day, I am looking forward to it.
Watermelon oreo’s!?? I have not seen them around! I will be looking! Any M&M is a good M&M!
    Hope your Saturday is great!
    Donna

    1. Thank you so much Donna! I do love that Alphabet Press Folder! The markers are really great! I’ll do some more coloring tomorrow. I’m glad that you were able to stake out some craft space! I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t get to my stuff! I should have gotten the Bloom with Hope, next time for sure! The Oreos are good and the M&M’s delicious! I hope that you too have a great Saturday! 🙂

  6. I think that Oreos are quite possibly my favorite cookie, but I’m not sure how I feel about Watermelon flavored ones 🙁 But I do know how I feel about your beautiful cards! I always admire bang-up cards with a masculine theme so it’s a no-brainer for me to love your suit case card. Great colors and texture on that one! And your colorful flower is a real knock out! I can’t wait to try those new markers! Thanks for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches!

    1. I would have to agree with you Jen! The watermelon ones are quite good! Yeah! So glad that you like the cards! Thank you! You are going to love the markers! Have a great week! 🙂

  7. Where do I begin? WOW!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE both! The first card is perfect, rich and vintage, I would never have thought to purchase that set and now I need. I love the second card, it is perfect, the colors pop yet the card is simple elegance. This is my favorite new color, LOL! I am a M&M junkie! Love them to pieces, I got the B-day ones for my B-day but dont want to open the package, LOL Are they good?

    1. Yeah!! Thanks Linda! I love the Traveler Set, some great images! LOL! I love the Rich Razzleberry more now that I did before too! Oh, you have to open the M&M’s, they are quite delicious! 🙂

  8. Justin, love your travel themed cards! Please joint our organized swap at Convention! Travel, Tropical & Nautical. It is listed under the swaps section. We would love to have you! I came to your site hoping you would have some good ideas and you do!

    1. Thank you Susan! I would love to join they swap but I don’t usually have time before Convention to make any cards. The full time and part time jobs get in the way. If it changes I’ll definitely let you know! 🙂
