Freshly Made Sketches 136

Boy did my allergies kick in today! I don’t usually have allergies until around September but I am stuffed big time. I started the Claritin so in three days I should feel better! The sun was shining until around 1:00 yesterday and then it started to get cloudy. It misted a little last night but today we are supposed to get some showers. It’s Thursday and I plan to take a little trip in to the city tonight and on Saturday, like I said yesterday it’s been too long. That of course will make today and tomorrow go a little slower as is always the case when you have something to look forward to. I stopped by my friend Sandy’s last night and we had a nice little visit. She is so great! I’m lucky in the friends that I have and I know it! 🙂

Today I have my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Sweet Amy has given us this sketch…

Freshly Made Sketches #136

I took a look at the sketch while I was at work and began to formulate my idea, by the time I got home the card was done! LOL! I used Whisper White for my card base and covered the entire front with a piece of Hello Honey* that I embossed with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The square in the middle is a piece of paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack and is backed with a piece of Sahara Sand. Next up is a strip of Sahara Sand and another strip of the Moonlight DSP with the right side flagged. My greeting is from the Label Something Stamp Set and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss* and punched out with the Hexagon Punch. Honeycomb always needs a beee right, mine is from the Springtime Hello Stamp Set and is stamped in Hello Honey* and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the square, greeting and bee to the card. Blackberry Bliss* and Hello Honey* look pretty good together don’t you think?! And I have already professed my love for the Moonlight DSP! A simple card but the little bee adds so much! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Amy. I had fun making the card and I thank you for coming by to see it. Have a terrific Thursday! 🙂

  1. Hexagon’s X 3, I see you followed our friend Brian’s rule. Such a rich card with the two new in colors. I like it. Moonlight paper stack looks so cool and I kick myself in the behind for not ordering it. But……..to no avail, I placed another preorder last night! LOL So it will be on it’s way along with more new goodies. Should of did this all in one shot.

    1. Yes Lisa, the rule of threes. Thank you! I am really loving the new In-Colors! I too placed another Pre-Order yesterday. I wanted the Endless Birthday Wishes Photopolymer Set and more of the In-Color CS. I can’t wait to be able to order the rest of the Catalog! 🙂

  2. Love the look of the new Moonlight DSP and the new colors! Used the hexagon set (stamps and punch) at my last workshop and am excited to see the pattern in the DSP! Your card looks “so right” with the bee, honeycomb embossing and the new Hello Honey color!! Hope you feel better soon!

    1. Thank you Beth! Yes, the Moonlight DSP is fantastic! I too was happy to see the honeycomb in the DSP along with some other really great patterns! I am hoping I feel better, I’m a whiner when I don’t feel good! LOL! Enjoy your day! 🙂

  3. Everything coordinates so beautifully on this card! And I love how you’ve used the little bee with the sketch. Maybe the new Blackberry Bliss will help me to overcome my fear of purple — it looks fabulous with the new yellow. Love this, Justin!

    1. Thank you Amy! I love that little bee, he’s just perfect! I didn’t know that you had a fear of purple! LOL! Blackberry Bliss is a really good one so I hope it does too! Enjoy your week! 🙂

  4. Love, love, love this card Justin – the honeycomb EF is high on the list of my favorites. I think it’s one of the most versatile embossing folders I own. Super, duper color combo and I’m thinking the Moonlight Stack DSP is going to end up right at the top of my list of favorite DSP’s! Great job and fab card! Have fun in “the city” tonight.

Hey, are you going to go to the opening of the 9/11 museum?

    1. Thank you very much Grace! I too love the Honeycomb EF and the Hexagon Punch! I too think that you will love the Moonlight DSP, such great colors and patterns! I always have fun in the city! No, I wasn’t planning on going to the 9-11 museum opening, are you?

      1. Yes – next time I’m in Manhattan. It wasn’t finished last time I was at the Memorial and I was very curious about the size and shape of it. I’ll email you a couple of photos to show you what point they were at.

  5. Hello! I’m sorry to hear about your allergy problems — much sympathy! I love the vintagey nature of the new In Colors! We are having the new catalog reveal next Tuesday at our stampin’ club. It will probably take me until at least June 2 to compile my wish list. I have been working on cleaning up my stamping room, and I am making great progress. Inspiration comes to me in my “sleep” and in dribs and drabs. I love the things you used in today’s card! I fell in love with the Springtime Hello images. Puppy Pi is quite a handful but she is smart (too smart?) and takes to her routine. She is 11 weeks old now and quite the comeback kid from her deadly illness. Her vet is a hero! You know what tomorrow is!!! Have a great one!!

    1. The allergies suck Nancy! Yes, the new colors do have a definite vintage feel to then. I have to make my wish list, it’s basically the whole catalog! LOL! I just keep adding to my stamp corner. I’m lucky in that I can visualize a lot of stuff. I’m glad to hear that the puppy is doing well! Enjoy your night! 😉

  6. Hello Justin! Love this card! That Blackberry Bliss is going to be a favorite of mine, I can tell! Love the pairing you did with Hello Honey. Great card! Just curious…what are the first 5 things you’ll order from the new catalog?? My list is huge…and my patience is short. I want all of it now. 🙂 Enjoy your day and your trip to the city tonight.

    1. Hello Karen!
Thank you! I do love the Blackberry Bliss and the Lost Lagoon, they are my faves! I have to think about the first give things and get back to you on that! I too want it all! I had a nice trip into the city and am on the train on the way home. 😉

  7. Hi Justin,
Wow! Wow! Wow! I love this! I am in love with the new In Colors! I agree with the previous posts about having a “vintagey” look to them. I love the addition of the Sahara Sand, I think it really grounds the other elements. Great Job!
I don’t know how I missed this post yesterday! Yours is usually my first email/blog I go to!
    Donna

    1. Hello Donna!
Thank you! I too am in love with the new colors! They definitely do have a vintage feel to them, I think it’s the muted richness in them. Sahara Sand is overlooked I think but it’s a great neutral in place of Vanilla or White. You’re forgiven, you were missed too! 🙂

  8. Great card Justin! I love all of those honeycombs! So sweet to add that little bee! Looks great! Love the look of the Hello Honey and Blackberry Bliss together! So striking! I’ve heard that at least in Canada, spring allergies were worse this year because spring was so late so the trees and the grass released their pollen at the same time which compounded the effects. Hopefully you’re feeling better! Claritin and I are best friends through Ragweed season! Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!!

    1. Thank you Jennifer! I’m a big honeycomb fan so I was happy to see that the DSP stack has two papers with it! Every honeycomb needs a bee, right?! I think I may have a cold on top of the allergies. I am feeling a bit better, thanks! I start Claritin now and don’t stop until Thanksgiving! I hope you have a wonderful week! 🙂
