Happy Friday peeps! For a 4 day week it sure seemed like 5! It was a gorgeous day here yesterday, sunny and cool. Work was busy, lots of last minute stuff to get done. I came home after work and yes, crafted for a little while. I also had some time to relax and just watch some TV. I have no big plans for the weekend, that’s good. I would like to try to go into the city at some point but I’m not sure if that will happen. I have a big milestone coming up on the blog on Monday, more details to follow!
I haven’t played along with the Just Add Ink challenge in a while so I went over to the blog to see what this week’s challenge was. It’s just add watercolor, sounds good to me!
I decided on a simple collage style card and I got to use one of my favorite little birds again! The card starts off with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Pool Party that I embossed using the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the Texture Boutique. They have had some issues with the Texture Boutique, it doesn’t emboss as deeply as it should. They are going to be sending out new plates to use with it stating in June. I find that the subtle embossing is sometimes neat so that’s what I did here. I stamped the Off the Grid Stamp in Versa-Mark on Watercolor Paper and then heat embossed it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My Aqua Painter and some Crisp Cantaloupe Ink provide the color. I then used my Paper Snips to cut out the stamped image and some Fast Fix Adhesive holds it to the card. Yes, I think I have lost it, fussy cutting the Off the Grid Stamp, but I really like the way it looks! Three hexagon cut out from Coastal Cabana with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The little bird is from the Nature’s Hello Stamp Set and is stamped in Soft Suede and cut out with the Backyard Basics Framelits. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold him in place too. A few sequins scattered around finish the card. I love the mix of colors and the simple eclectic feel of the card and hope that you do too! Many thanks for your visiting with me today to see my card for this week’s Just Add Ink challenge. Have an amazing Friday my friends! 🙂

Thank you Melanie! Have a great Friday and a lovely weekend! 🙂
Hmm, at first glance I thought you cut out of the grid in the shape of a state or country and couldn’t figure out which one it was, LOL! Card looks great!
Ha ha! I did the same thing last night! Thanks Sandy! Enjoy your Friday! 🙂
LOL…… you sure do love fussy cutting! But it’s gorgeous. Have a super weekend. Can’t wait for it to start!!!! Looking forward to see the big milestones too.
Indeed I do Louise! LOL! Thank you! I hope you have a great weekend too! 🙂
Hey there Justin and Happy Friday! Hope your day is off to a great start! Cool card—love the way you cut Off the Grid image. I would have never thought to use it in that way. Love the texture on this card. And oh yeah…the sequins! 😉 Love those. Can’t wait to hear what you have to tell us on Monday! Have a fabulous day!
Hello Karen!
Happy Friday to you too! My day was busy but good! I love the watercolored heat embossed look! You know I love some sequins! Monday will be fun I hope! LOL! I hope your day was good! 🙂
You always give us such unique ideas! At first I thought you made a puzzle piece; then I thought you invented a new state to admit to our Union. Anything you meant (or didn’t mean) to do is so different and Good. Great ideas here & love the sequins…can’t wait until Monday.
Enjoy the weekend! We are going to a garden party tonight. Nancy B
Thank you Nancy! I try! LOL! I thought it was a state when I finished cutting it out! LOL! So happy you enjoyed the card! I hope that you have a lovely time at your garden party and a great weekend! 🙂
Love the feel of this card, Love your colors, and fussy cuttin “Off the Grid” awesome effect
Thank you Linda! 🙂
Um, lost it Justin?!! On the contrary, I think you GOT it!! Superbly creative & what an awesome way to think out if the box AND go off the grid, LOL!!! 😉 I hope to relax, rest, make some Father’s Day cards, and enjoy some time outside!! Have a spectacular weekend!!! 🙂
Why thank you Laurie! LOL! Out of the box and off the grid, love it! Lots to do today but I will relax tomorrow! I will definitely get outside! I wish you a wonderful weekend too! 🙂
Hey Justin!…Love your cool “Off the Grid” watercolouring, l must say, at first glance l was thinking an American state too..:0)…Lovely to see you pop up at Just Add Ink! Enjoy your weekend. xx
Thank you Nikki! LOL! It’s maybe a new state?! Have a great weekend! 🙂
I really like how you have fussy cut the Grid stamp – it’s very effective. Like the CAS feel of this card too. Chantell JAI
Thank you Chantell! Have a great week! 🙂
Great take on the watercolouring challenge, Justin! Such a sweet card. Thanks for joining in the fun at Just Add Ink this week. 🙂
Thank you Christine! I love when a challenge makes me do something that I don’t do regularly! Enjoy your week! 🙂
Oh this definitely has an ecclectic feel Justin. I quite like how meditative a bit of fussy cutting can be and your watercoloured “grid” makes a gorgeous textural background for your bird. Thanks for playing along with Just Add Ink this week.
Thank you Kim! I’m glad that you also find fussy cutting therapeutic and also that you enjoyed the card! Have a great week! 🙂
Hey Justin, love your watercoloured ‘grid’ and I too am a fan of fussy cutting. It looks terrific on your textured background mat. Great card, and so glad you could join the challenge fun at Just Add Ink this week.
Thank you Patrice! I find the fussy cutting relaxing! So glad you enjoyed the card, have a wonderful week! 🙂
Justin, on days when I can’t craft yet need an escape, your blog does the trick. Thank you, regularly. Your subtle tree bark is perfect; a deep emboss could have distracted from your lovely focus. I never have liked the Texture Boutique because its embossing lacks sharp shadowing, but you have made a good point for the benefit column, Justin. Your cute birdie could be carrying a feather for its nest. LOL
I also find fussy cutting relaxing, and often pass the time riding as passenger when my hubby drives (which he finds relaxing). It’s true that 350 fussy cuts in prep for Orlando Leadership in 2012 did not discourage my interest in cutting, but made good use of my time between the Twin Cities, MN and Phoenix, AZ.
Susan
Thanks Susan! That makes me feel great! I like the way the Woodgrain Folder looks when it’s not so bold. I used to use the Shot With no tabs with that folder. The feather is a great ice! I wish I had thought of that! I really do think that it’s very therapeutic to fussy cut. WOW! That’a a lot of fussy cutting!! I am usually the driver in the car, if I wasn’t that would be a great way to get swaps done! 🙂
I love the organic shape that your fussy cut Off The Grid makes. The sequins make a lovely finishing touch. Thanks for playing along with us at Just Add Ink.
Thank you Tina! I think Sequins make everything a little better! Have a great week! 🙂
