Hexagon Feather Hello

Well, my Saturday didn’t go anything like I had planned. Not really a surprise, but I did a get lot of something accomplished. The arrangement of where my computer was in my apartment was making me a little crazy. It was sort of the first thing that you saw when you walked in. I don’t like a lot of open clutter, I’m fine with concealed clutter. LOL! So I went to IKEA with Taylor and got a new desk, file cabinet and bookcase. We had some lunch there too, Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes and lingonberry sauce. YUM! I haven’t had that in such a long time! Have you ever had the Swedish meatballs from IKEA?! They are DELICIOUS! I came back home and put together the new furniture and then got rearranging and some more purging. My sister-in-law is going to take my old desk which is good because it’s a nice glass and metal one. I do feel much better now that the desk is in the living room and most of the clutter is contained when you first walk in. Not what I had planned but I’m glad that it’s done! What were you up to yesterday?!

After I got done with all of that, furniture assembly is somewhat tiring, I sat down and started to make a card. I had misplaced my container that had all of my extra pieces that I have cut out with my e-cutter but in my rearranging I found them! Today’s card uses all e-cutter goodies and no stamping! Gasp! My card begins with a base of Kraft Card Stock. I choose some Pool Party for my background and I put a strip of Washi Tape from the Everyday Adventure Project Life Accessory Pack across the bottom. Under that is a piece of adhesive cork, my fave! The hexagons are made from Baked Brown Sugar with the Hexagon Punch Digital Download, I cut out the outline omitting the inside. My feather is from the Feathered Woodcuts Kit Digital Download cut from some Bermuda Bay. For my greeting is used Coastal Cabana and the Moments Ago Stamp Brush Set. I brushed some of my Shimmer Aqua Painter concoction over it before adhering it to the cork. A nice fun mailable card that will make it’s way to brighten someone’s day! I do enjoy using my e-cutter and the cork, well we know how I feel about that! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed my quick card for today. I thank you for sharing in my day and stopping by top see what I have been up to in the Stampin’ Galley! Have a super Sunday my friends! 🙂

  1. No ink? 😉 beautiful card, Justin! Which ecutter do you use? I have the cameo which is woefully underutilized.

    1. I know Vicki! Imagine that?! Thank you! I have a Silhouette Portrait. Mine is underutilized too don’t worry! I get on a kick every once in a while! LOL! Have a great day! 🙂

  2. Good Sunday Morning Justin! You must have had fun shopping and having lunch with Taylor at IKEA. Love, love, love everything about your card!!! The blues, Baked Brown Sugar and the kraft paper are my favorite combinations! You have got me hooked on loving cork and feathers!!! What is your aqua shimmer “concoction” or is it classified info?! I don’t have an e-cutter, but now I wish I knew someone who does! Have a relaxing Sunday!

    1. A very good Sunday morning to you too! I did have a nice time at IKEA! Taylor even paid for lunch! Thank you! Blues are definitely my favorite colors and I love all of ours! LOL! Ahh… success! You are addicted to cork and feathers, my job is done! LOL! I posted about the concoction a little bit ago. It’s Gold Shimmer Paint and alcohol in a modified Aqua Painter. There is a little “filter” in the nib that I had to take out so the liquid would flow through the brush tip. It’s comes out fast but I love the effect and it’s nice and easy to apply! I am hoping to have a crafty Sunday! Wish me luck! 🙂

      1. Thanks so much for the formula for your aqua glimmer. I probably read it before, but this time I will print it out!! Have a great time in your Stampin’ Galley today!

        1. Welcome Beth! They have a similar thing called Wink of Stella but I do try to stay Stampin’ Up! all the time! I am off to create now! Have a nice day my friend! 🙂

  3. Hi Justin, I have been following you for awhile but have never replied..sad, I know, sorry. Not much of a replier! Lol! I love your cards and hearing about your days and friends, sorta like News from the Galley! I recently got my own room in the house when my son started college. I moved my husbands office into the boys room so they can share and I have my Moms Cave.
I love it! It’s better than the kitchen eating area! I keep rearranging..one day, esp when I get rid of the pinball machine..I will have it just right! But it works! So, hello from Austin!

    1. Hello Stephanie!
I’m so happy to have you along and thank you for taking the time to comment! I love that… News from the Galley, that’s great! It’s definitely nice to have a separate space to create in, no matter how small! I’ll bet that you are enjoying your mom’s cave!!I am constantly rearranging as I work, that’s the only way to make the set up the best for you. So happy that you too the time to “chat”! I was just in Austin recently as I’m sure that you know! Have a great Sunday!! 🙂

  4. I, too, love the Ikea store. Finding your “extras” container was meant to be because you created a great card! Looking forward to more “New from the Galley” and photos of your journeys. Your flight to Utah was epic, but in the end well worth getting there. So glad you pursued. Have a wonderful day.

    1. IKEA is so much fun! It was funny because I though that I had unpacked all of the supplies and then low and behold there was one more! I need to go into the city soon, I miss it! I’m so glad to have along with me for daily journey! Yes, the flight to SLC was something that I won’t soon forget but I made the most of it! Enjoy your Sunday! 🙂

  5. Hi Justin! Sounds like a fun Saturday for you. I love IKEA. Just went (for my first time) a month or so ago. They have wonderful things for getting organized! It sounds like your Stampin’ Galley is coming together nicely. Sometimes you have to live in it before you find proper places for things. And how fun to spend that time with Taylor! On to your card—Love it. And even with no stamping on it. 😉 Sometimes its good to challenge ourselves a bit and using your “extras” made a fun card! I just got some of that kraft cardstock…I’m anxious to try it. Love the blues with that. So have yourself a great day today!!

    1. Hello Karen!
It was a very good Saturday! Time with the child is always fun and being productive makes the day all the more better! IKEA has so many great things I need a bigger apartment! You are definitely correct, you need to spend time in a place to see what works best! Thank you! I hardly ever make a card with no stamping but I had all of the elements that I needed! The Kraft Card Stock is great, it has a nice texture and it’s very thick! I hoe that you have an amazing day! 🙂

  6. WOW a card without stamping! And it is a very beautiful one too. Love the colors. And the cork (I do have some of that somewhere).
My Cameo has not been used in months….. shame on me! I have so many “shapes” I would not even know where to look for the right one. I have not quite yet taken the time to figure out the MDS and Cameo together…. but I will, someday. Too much going on right now.
Have a happy Sunday. Trying to come up right now with a quick and easy card I can make 8 copies of for our upcoming team meeting!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend! 🙂

    1. I know Louise right?! I think I have made one or two before! Thank you so much! I am a huge fan of blues and you know that I loves me some cork! You need to get back on the e-cutter wagon. I neglect it sometimes and then I want to make something that I need it for and it comes back again! I just import the Stampin’ Up! SVG files into my Silhouette software and use them that way. I am having a nice Sunday, I got a lot of projects done and managed to relax for a bit. I hope that you got your cards made and that the rest of your day was nice! 🙂

  7. Hi Justin,

Wow! I love this card! I love all the texture and of course I love love love the feathers! Great Job!
I haven’t posted lately but I have read your blog everyday! Looks like you had a great time at convention, no surprise there!
I am now in Florida, I have been here for a week. I am having a great time. It is hot, hot, hot!! But I love it!
I did bring my blendabilites and some stamped images to color. I don’t think I could go 3 weeks without doing something creative.
I leave Florida in a week and a half, to continue my trip up to Tennessee.
Sorry about not posting but have been crazy busy, today is a slow day. We are going to see the movie, And So It Goes. Then out to lunch somewhere.
Hope your Sunday is a great one!
    Donna

    1. Hello Donna!
Thank you! Yes, I do love a feather and with the new Stamp Set and Framelits they may end up on every card! LOL! I did have a wonderful time at Convention, even with my 22 hour flight it was all worth it! I remembered that you said that you would be traveling for a few weeks. I’m happy to hear that you are having a nice time. I will take hot over freezing any day thank you! I have trouble going more than two days without making something! No need to apologize, it’s nice to hear from you and I hope that you had a nice day. How was the movie? I have had a nice day! Enjoy the rest of yours! 🙂

      1. Hi Justin
The movie was really good. It was funny yet very poignant at times. I would definitely recommend it.

  8. Hi Justin, who doesn’t love Ikea? I live about 30 minutes from two different Ikea stores..it’s always a dilemma as to which one to go to…what a problem! Plus being treated to lunch by your daughter…score! Your card is fresh and clean, no stamping needed. Thanks for the tip on your aqua painter formula. I am definitely going to try it. Enjoy your Sunday.

    1. Hello Roseanne!
I know right?! What’s not to love about IKEA?! LOL! I have been to the one by me in Hicksville and the one in Brooklyn which is huge! Yes, treated to lunch by the child was fun! I sat there and tried to think of a place that needed a stamp and I couldn’t come up with one. I love the brush on gold, it’s so much fun! Enjoy the rest of you evening! 🙂

  9. No ink, no stamps, OMG thats a first. This is gorgeous. i love my e-cutter, don’t use it as much as I should. It is awesome spending time with family, I got in no playtime yesterday but had 5 hours of extended family time. Hard to come by and very nice

    1. LOL! I know Linda, I kind of felt bad not using any stamps! I’m glad that you like it! I too need to use my e-cutter more. I love to be with my family and friends. Sometimes we just need to find the right balance. I had some family time yesterday and some stamping time today, perfect weekend! 🙂

  10. Well Justin, as always, I love your card. Question though, I have MDS, just about every version SU has put out, I don’t know how to use it but love your card and wondered how hard is it to use MDS and your cutter together. I don’t own a cutter, but am willing to buy one if I can learn how to use MDS with it. Again, your card is fantastic and I absolutely love it.

    1. Yeah! Thank you Sandy! Honestly, I just import the downloaded SVG files in to the Silhouette Designer Software and use them in there. I don’t use the MDS software. Connie Collins has a few good MDS tutorials. I hope that helps. Have a wonderful day! 🙂
