Mojo 356

Hello my peeps! It’s Thursday and that means just one more day to go! I have had a pretty good week so far let’s hope that it continues! I will be heading into Manhattan on Saturday, my friend Kim’s brother and sister will be in town! I’m looking forward to that! It’s been too long since I’ve been in the city. Yesterday was another beautiful day. It was in the upper 70’s with a slight breeze and plenty of sun! This is shaping up to be a great summer! I hope that the weather by you has been equally as nice! I came home last night and did some more organizing in the Stampin’ Galley and then had some quality crafty time! Always my favorite way to end the day!

The card I have for you today is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch and guess what?! It’s another tall and skinny!

Mojo356

I do love the tall and skinny cards! I need to start making some even when there is no sketch! LOL! My card today starts off with a base of Basic Black Card Stock. For the background I used a piece of Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper. I love the feel and look of the paper, it really is just like old book paper. I flagged a strip of Gold Foil Sheet and a piece of Lost Lagoon to go down the left side. My circle is a piece of Vellum Card Stock and a frame of Basic Black that I cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. I do love a little vellum don’t I?! Next up is a strip of Gold Foil Sheet that I embossed with the “Vintage” Pretty Print Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, still one of my favorites! The greeting is from the Label Love Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Lost Lagoon. I punched it out with the Artisan Label Punch and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The star is a piece of Lost Lagoon that I cut out with the Stars Framelits and I adhered a Basic Hodgepodge Clip with some Multi-Purpose Glue on top. Another Stampin’ Dimensionals hold that in place. I love the Lost Lagoon with the Basic Black and Gold and the Typeset DSP is just great! I really hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. As always, thanks so much for taking some time out of your day to spend with me! Have a thoroughly amazing Thursday! 🙂

  7. Good Morning Justin:

I really, really, really love the way you put the hodge podge star onto a framelits cut star. How the heck did you ever think of that? Also, I didn’t realize the multi purpose glue would hold metal embellishments. I have my first container of the multi purpose and I wish someone would do a tutorial on it just to show all that it could do. That would be an awesome lesson for some of us. Here I am asking for a lesson on glue – makes me sound a bit stupid but sometimes you can learn a lot by getting back to basics.

Wishing you a Terrific Thursday Justin!

    1. Hello Grace!
Thank you very much Grace! I sit there and sometimes I can just see that things might work and I’m pleasantly surprised when they do! The Multi-Purpose Glue seems to be working so far, we’ll see if it lasts! I agree that it would be a good idea for a video on the glue, if I knew all the ways to use it I might do one! We are nothing without the basics! I hope that you had a nice day my friend! 🙂

  8. Hi Justin! Great card today. I had to stare at it for a bit to take it all in. 😉 Love the way you used the vellum and the touches of gold. Very nice! Like your other readers, I would love to see how you’ve organized your Stampin’ Galley! I’m always looking for tips and ideas! My space is always a work in progress! We are having some weather here too. Some cooler nights but that’s a welcome change in my book. Have a great day!

    1. Hello Karen!
Thank you! I was happy with the card.I think that Vellum adds so much and gold is really popular now! I will definitely post some pictures of the Stampin’ Galley soon, promise! We are having lovely weather here as of late, I’m really enjoying the summer! 🙂

  9. Justin, this has total WOW factor! It’s old world looking and I like it. It does remind me of a ‘porthole’ like Louise stated. Or how about, looking out the cockpit of a plane surveying the land. My favorite part is the star clip fitting so nicely on top of the Lost Lagoon star. Getting ready to for tomorrow’s preorder and those little Hodgepodge Clips may just sneak in there too.

    1. Thank you very much Lisa! I like the looking out a plane reference! I do love to fly! I really like the Hodgepodge Clips, they are different and fun! I hope you enjoy the rest of your day! 🙂

  10. Another WOW! I hope you are not tired of reading that WOW word. This card is gorgeous. I too love the typeset paper. Of course I’m drawn to anything Vintage. I love the Vellum and how you used the gold paper. I cant wait for this weekend so I can play

    1. LOL! I will never get tired of reading WOW! Linda!! Thank you very much! The Typeset DSP is great! I hope that you have a lot of fun playing this weekend! 🙂

  11. So many fun elements – the star “paper clip” with the LL cardstock star underneath; the “porthole” made from vellum – who would of thought of that element but you – LOVE it; and the gold foil embossed with the “vintage” embossing folder – all wonderful elements to add such depth to this card. I really like this card. Way to go Justin. Thanks for sharing another wonderful card!

    1. Thank you Lisa! I had a lot fun putting the card together! The Pretty Print Embossing folder will always be a favorite of mine! Thanks again! Enjoy your evening! 🙂

  12. I’ve gotten a bit behind on my blog reading since a new school year has already started, but upon my perusal, I find another outstanding card by YOU! What a super-lovely creation! Black, gold, and Lost Lagoon-with vellum as a perfect complement. Striking. Beautiful art comes from beautiful hearts. Happy Saturday!

    1. Thank you Georgie! It’s very easy to get behind with how busy we get! I’m glad that you enjoyed the card. I love the colors together and we know that I enjoy some Vellum! I love that little saying, I need to remember that! Hope your Saturday was good and I wish you a happy Sunday! 🙂
