Pals Paper Arts 211

I don’t think words can describe how good it feels to be done with work for an entire week. Today was a great Friday too! I got to run some errands and see a friend on one of them. I had a nice chat with an old friend when I got home and then spent a little time in the craft space. I also had another pretty neat suggestion for the name of said craft space… the stamping galley. What do you think of that? I kind of like it! Still have some time to get your suggestions in! I’m in for a busy weekend, but it’s supposed to rain here on Sunday so that will definitely make getting my stuff done easier because I won’t want to be outside!

Last night I sat down and did my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts Color challenge…

PPA 211

When I first looked at it I thought nautical but then I changed my mind! The base of the card is Daffodil Delight Card Stock. I stamped the flowers from the Hello Darling Stamp Set in Daffodil Delight on Whisper White and adhered the panel to the card base. The front panel is Night of Navy and I used the Window Frames Collection Framelits to cut out the center. Around the cutout I used the Festive Paper-Piercing Pack to pierce a nice border. My greeting is also from the Hello Darling Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold the panel in place. I used some Basic Jewels Pearls in the flower centers and then some randomly scattered in the lower left corner complete the card. I am really enjoying the Hello Darling Stamp Set, the greeting is great and so are the images! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. Your visits make my days complete and I appreciate that! Have a super Saturday my friends! 🙂

  1. Love the piercing work, the embossing and the pearls! Oh, that is the whole card. Have a great day. 🙂

  2. Good Morning Justin:

The Night of Navy & Daffodil Delight has been one of my favorite color combos for ages. There is something very classic and soothing about the combination. I loved that you did the paper piercing around the frame. Paper piecing is a small touch to add to a card but the result is huge. Great job.

It’s going to rain here on Sunday also. That means NH will get rain which probably means another rain postponed race………..grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

You have yourself a relaxing, productive and enjoyable weekend. Lots of fun coming up so you need to rest and prepare for it.

    1. Hello my Grace!
I have to admit that I don’t usually use them together, but I had fun with this card! It definitely has a classic regal feel to it. I’m happy that I remembered the Paper-Piercing! LOL!Thanks!
I thought of you when it said rain on Sunday, sorry. You can spend some time crafting! I had a nice semi-productive day today, tomorrow will be a super productive day! It has to be! 🙂

  3. Hi Justin! Beautiful card! I love the contrast of the white embossing powder on the navy cs…so pretty! And the framelit is the perfect frame for the flowers! Love it! I think The Stamping Galley is a great name for your new, creative space. It’s nice to have a designated spot, isn’t it? If you’re like me, my space gets pretty messy during the creative process. So glad we can just close the door. 😉 Happy start of your vacation…let the fun begin! Have a great day!

    1. Hello Karen!
Thank you! I love White Embossing Powder on a really dark card stock! I tend to heat emboss a lot lately. Stamping Galley is the current favorite! i love having a room, albeit small, for my stuff. I am completely immersed! I had a good day and I hope that you did too! 🙂

  4. Good morning!
Wow, absolutely stunning! I love this card! Cool colors, looks great together!
So glad that your week is over. Now you can settle down a bit, get relaxed and rest up for the big week you have a head of you. Can you please stuff me in your suitcase to take along? I won’t take up to much room, l promise. 😉 Bet you are getting excited! Well, take care and have an awesome day! 🙂 XOXO Donna

    1. Hello Donna!
Thank you so much! I like the colors and will definitely keep them in mind! No rest for the weary! I have some swaps to make and my cards for the week. I did get some done today but I have a lot more to do tomorrow. I want to get it all finished so I can relax on Monday! I am super excited! I hope you had a fabulous day my friend! XOXOXOX

  5. I really like the colors ! The pearls in the corner are classy and the piercing is subtle ,but packs a punch ! Love your card …Happy Saturday !

  6. Well, my first comment did not print out so I tried again ….still like this card …maybe even more as time goes by .

  7. You are so getting your full value out of that stamp set! I like the window cut out and the white embossing. You have turned Night of Navy into a go to color as I am missing Midnight Muse from demos. I will continue to use it. I really like the Galley name for your space! Have a great, relaxing weekend and stay dry! Nancy B

    1. Thanks Nancy! It’s nice when I get to get a lot of use out of a stamp set! I have some that I have never used. I too am missing Midnight Muse, I like it better than Night of Navy. Galley is a great one! Hugs!!

  8. Hi Justin
Another great card with this stamp set! I really like the color combo, it’s very striking. The window is the perfect Framelits to showcase the flowers. The White embossed sentiment is prefect against the night of Navy. And the pearls are the perfect finishing touch!
Do you participate in any organized swaps at convention? I really enjoyed doing that last year.
I just finished another mixed media canvas, I made three for my new bathroom. I think they turned out pretty good. My daughters are trying to convince me to sell my work on Etsy. I am not sure about it though. I need to think about some more.
I hope your Saturday is a good one!
    Donna

    1. Hello Donna!
Thank you! It’s a sweet little stamp set!
The only swap that I do is the Control Freaks. I would like to do more but the move got in the way this time. 🙁
I know this is probably a silly question but do you post your work? I would love to see your mixed media canvases! I want to try one! I have to start selling my cards through Etsy. My daughter’s mom sells bracelets one her Etsy site and does quite well.
I had a good Saturday, hope yours was too! 🙂

      1. Hi Justin
No I don’t post my work. I have a blog but haven’t done anything with it. I will take pics today and let you know when I post them. I think this might just be the push I need!
I am always afraid of My work not being good enough. But I need to get out of my own way and be brave or vulnerable enough to share my work.
You should try Etsy, your cards are amazing and I know they would sell!
Thanks for giving me that push! I will let you know once they are up.
        Donna

        1. Hey Donna!
We all take a chance the first time that we post something, especially something that we made. The things we make mean a lot to us. Don’t be afraid, do you like what you made? I’m sure that others will and I’m sure that your work is great! If you want to share it here first let me know, I’d be happy to let everyone here have a look! You know that you are among friends here. I’m really excited to see you canvases, it’s something that I have never done!
I really need more time in the day! I have pictures of all the cards, I just need to line them and bag them and get them on Etsy. Andrew said that he will help, let’s hope that it happens!
I am really excited to see you projects!! You will be great! 🙂

  9. Hi Justin, Glad you didn’t go the nautical route! Love the navy of the card and the piercing around the Windows cutout! The embossing also stands out wonderful on the dark paper. I think that the stamped flowers “stand out more” being set behind. Hope you have a productive weekend as you continue to settle in to the new apartment.

    1. Hello Beth!
I really did think nautical as soon as I saw them but I’m happy with the way I went too! I think dimension makes a huge difference, especially when something is set back. The apartment is coming right along! My productive weekend needs to super productive tomorrow! 🙂

  10. Love the card, and love the stamp set. I was tickled to see where you placed pearls on the flowers, as I have been struggling to decide where to put them besides the large 2 flowers. I like your placement and choice of a variety of sizes.
As for the name of the craft space, might I suggest THE TUNNEL OF FUN.

    1. Thank you Mary Alice! A few pearls ale everything better! I like the tunnel of fun! Thanks for your input! 🙂

  11. Oh my goodness! What a stunning card. I, like you would have thought nautical with those colors, but I love what you did with these colors. Hope I get to see you at some point at convention. We are leaving tomorrow and just taking our time at getting there. Will take in some sights along the way.

    1. Thank you Sandy! I was glad that I didn’t go the nautical route! We will make meeting up happen! If you are on Facebook message me so we can coordinate! I leave tomorrow night, if the weather holds out! Fingers and everything else crossed! I think that your travel plans sound a lot more fun and relaxing than mine! Safe travels and I’ll see you soon! 🙂

  12. Stunning design, Justin! You did a fantastic job of coordinating the colors for this challenge. The framelit that you chose frames the flowers nicely, and the color combo really makes the flowers pop. The pearls add an elegant touch that help to tie the white embossed sentiment into your wonderful design. Love this card!!!

    1. Thank you El! I had fun with the colors, I like that I choose a flower instead of my first thought which was nautical!:-)
