Creation Station Tour – Kinda Eclectic

creation station header

Hello everyone! I had a very crafty day yesterday and the weather here was just perfect, cool but sunny! Today it’s time for the Creation Station Blog Tour! I’m hoping that you have been along for our previous ones! If this is your first time here welcome and I hope that you find inspiration in the projects. This time around we are featuring the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set. If you are following the tour you have arrived here from Jennifer Downey’s blog, pretty awesome projects huh?! I have three projects for you today. I took some pictures of them so you could follow along!

The first project that I have for you today is a relatively quick but really cute tiny gift box. We have new Tiny Treat Boxes in the upcoming Holiday Catalog and they come 25 to a pack, they are about 2″ square. I used the featured stamp set Kinda Eclectic to stamp the dots around the top on the sides in Night of Navy. Along the bottom is some Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper that I tore (I have a difficult time doing that! LOL!) and adhered with some Fast Fuze Adhesive.

I adhered two of the butterflies stamped in Blackberry Bliss and punched out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch on opposite sides. On top is a piece of burlap that I had from long ago, I cut it out with the “Vintage” Circles #2 Bigz Die and frayed the edges. Two of the leaves are stamped in Always Artichoke and cut out with my Paper Snips. On top of that is a flower from the Choose Happiness Stamp Set stamped in Lost Lagoon and cut out with my Paper Snips too. I adhered the burlap with Sticky Strip, the leaves with Glue Dots and the flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals. In the middle is one of the new Gold Basic Metallic Buttons threaded with some Linen Thread and adhered to the middle of the flower with a Glue Dot. A fun little box that would be perfect for a little piece of candy or maybe some bling!

Next up is one of our Kraft Grid Journals that I decorated with some fun stuff! I saw a flower in this month’s Stampin’ Success (our Demonstrator Magazine) and had to make one! The flower is made by coating one side of the 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon with Mod-Podge and letting it dry completely. When it’s dry you use one of the Circles Collection Framelits to cut them out. I found that they didn’t cut all the way through but my Paper Snips finished the job. I love the way they stay nice and crisp along the edges thanks to the Mod-Podge!.

I put a slit halfway up the ones that go around and the hot glued them all together. In the middle I took a Vintage Faceted Button and tied some Linen Thread in a bow and adhered the smallest of the Gold Basic Metallic Buttons in the center with a Glue Dot.

The leaves are cut from the Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper with the Flower Fair Framelits.

My three butterflies are form the Kinda Eclectic Stamp Set and are stamped in Tangelo Twist, the large ones are punched out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch and the smaller one with Bitty Butterfly Punch. I used the new Handheld Stapler to make the bodies and then adhered them to the journal with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My notes stamp is from a Paper Pumpkin Kit and is stamped in Mossy Meadow.

I love that flower, it’s a fun different embellishment and I think the journal will go in a shadow box and make a nice home decor piece for someone special!

Lastly I have a quick card. The base of it is Kraft Card Stock and the background is a piece of Blackberry Bliss. I heat embossed the greeting from Kinda Eclectic in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then adhered the background to the base with Fast Fuze, it was a little warped after the heat embossing and I wanted to make sure that it would stay flat! The sunburst and the leaves are from the same set, the leaves are stamped in Always Artichoke and the sunburst in Crushed Curry. I cut them both out with my Paper Snips. In the middle of the sunburst is a piece of Gold Foil Sheet that I punched out with the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch. The sunburst is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the leaves with Multi-Purpose Glue. My little gold sequins are made using a die from My Favorite Things Die-namics and Gold Foil Sheet, I saw the die and just couldn’t resist, I can make sequins from any card stock now! I love the bold background with the fussy cut sun, makes it stand out nicely!

  1. Good morning!
WOW! LOVE all the projects this morning! But the star burst card is outstanding. Talk about patience, there’s no way I could cut around the bursts like you did. (Without cutting one or two off). Just amazing!
I am really shocked to read that you use another companies die. I didn’t think you used anyone else’s products. I’m glad you did because it is nice to see what else is out there. Cute!
    How’s the knee been feeling?
The weather here in PA is gorgeous, a little cool but nice. You can always add on, you just can’t take off. (Ha – Ha!)
You have yourself a wonderful day 🙂 Donna

    1. Good morning Donna!
Thank you so very much! It took a little while to cut it out but I like the effect! I only have a few things from other companies, I just couldn’t resist the sequins die, it’s way too cool to pass up! I love Stampin’ Up! and they have so many amazing things, as you know I own most of them, but sometimes you have to venture out! LOL! My knee is feeling much better thank you for asking! We had lovely weather here yesterday but we are to have rain today. Good crafty day! I hope that you have a wonderful day too my friend! 🙂

  2. WOW Justin…these projects are amazing. Almost too much to take in at once. I love your use of burlap. The way you created that flower is so clever and the uses for it could be endless. The card is stunning….you are a master snipper! Have a wonderful Sunday.

    1. Thank you Roseanne! I had a lot of fun yesterday making them! Apparently I work best under pressure! I love the burlap flower too! My first use of Mod-Podge but not the last! You have a wonderful Sunday too! 🙂

  3. WOW Justin! These are absolutely gorgeous projects. Very clever to use the Mod-Podge with the burlap ribbon. And you sure have a lot of patience …. The results are amazing!
And yes, how us the knee? I hope it is getting better… One more thing you share with my son (who was born just a day before you, remember?) Have yourself a wonderful Sunday.

    1. Thank you so much Louise! Stampin’ Up! was very clever to suggest the Mod-Podge with the ribbon! It took a while because the Framelits don’t cut through, but they give a nice little guide! The knee is much better thank you for asking! Oh no, not him too! And yes, how could I forget that he is a day older?! You have a relaxing Sunday my friend! 🙂

  4. Oh Justin – you are going to have to claim the award for Master Fussy Cutter! Are you sure you aren’t Edward Scissorhands? I love your projects today. The use of burlap trips my trigger…I love burlap.

  5. Hi Justin – that Eclectic set has been on my wish list since it came out in the new catalog. I just love it but I sure as heck would NOT have the patience required to paper snip it out. Glad that you do though. LOL

Really neat projects on your post today. If I were making the three of them it would definitely take me an entire day. The burlap flower is just gorgeous, the way you put the gold center in the sunburst is fabulous and really makes it outstanding, and your little box is cute as a button for sure. Looks like you had an enjoyable crafting day. Good for you. Once in a while it’s great to stay at home, put on some good music and just plain relax whether it’s with crafting, reading or just doing nothing at all. The body needs some down time every once in a while.

Rain here today but hopefully not in Michigan, We have sat through too many rain delayed races already this year. I love Sunday afternoons – my time to be lazy. I get to lay on the couch and watch the race on the big screen TV. I usually use the much smaller TV in the craft room because the big one was a reward for the hubs from me for something wonderful he did. Since we don’t like the same type programs we most often watch in separate rooms which is fine because I rarely watch TV. I’m too busy doing things that are fun.

You have yourself a Sensational Sunday Justin. Be kind to yourself and enjoy doing so..

    1. Hello Grace!
I love the Kinda Eclectic Set, it was killing me to wait until Convention to get it! LOL! The fussy cutting is fun, if you’re a little nutty like me!
Thank you! I had so much fun making them! It took me a while to make them, don’t worry. I didn’t get nearly enough done this weekend and I will pay for it tomorrow! I really had some fun with the embellishments, glad that they were noticeable! I was listening to Sam Smith and the Zedd while I was crafting. Talk about polar opposites! I need a do nothing day real soon!
Oh, not another rain delay for your race! There have been a lot. My parents watch TV in separate rooms too. I rarely watch TV, like you I have more fun things to do! 🙂
I had a nice day, not really focused but nice, hope that yours was too! XO

  6. Hi Justin! What a fantastic triple treat you have for us today! I love all your projects but I’m especially fond of the flower you made from the burlap ribbon. So cool! Those little boxes are so cute as well. And the sun card…just gorgeous. You have so much patience with all that fussy-cutting! 😉 Have an awesome day today and just wonderful projects!!

    1. Hey Karen!
Thank you very much! I will admit that I love that burlap flower, pretty but rough at the same time! I find the fussy cutting relaxing, strange I know! I hope that your day was awesome, mine was pretty good! 🙂

  7. Hi Justin, All three projects are great, but that sun! WOW!!! Just beautiful! And what patience you have with all that fussy cutting! Love! Enjoy your Sunday! Hope you have some of that sun out your way!

    1. Hello Melanie!
Thank you! Fussy cutting is fun! LOL! It was a nice day here and I got out and baked! Hope that your day was great! 🙂

  8. Good Morning Justin. You have created 3 absolutely fantastic projects with my favorite stamp set! I think the gift box is gorgeous and will be CASED for sure. I agree with the other comments on the fussy cutting- great detailed work which really did pay off in an awesome card. Thanks for my Sunday morning inspiration!

    1. Hello Marty!
Thank you so much! It’s one of my favorite Stamp Sets too! The box seemed more complicated than it actually was, I always notice that when I type the post. Or, I was having so much fun I just didn’t notice! I love to fussy cut and it’s all my friend Sandy’s fault! LOL! I hope that you had a nice Sunday! 🙂

  9. Now I have to find my Mod Podge ! Love your Burlap flower ! Fun projects ….always enjoy these Creation Station times .

  10. WOW!!! As you know, Kinda Eclectic is my favorite stamp set! Awesome projects. The little box is adorable. I didn’t realize you got 24 is a set. I need to read that catalog a little closer. I just LOVE the burlap flower. I want to give that a try but it looks like a lot of work. Also, the gold sunburst card is amazing!! Thanks for sharing!!

    1. Yes Gerri, one of my faves too! Thank you! It’s 25 in the set, so you can make an Advent Calendar with them! The flower is cool and wasn’t that bad, I think it looks a little more menacing that it actually is to make. So happy you stopped by, hope you had a great day! 🙂

  11. Hi Justin,
Great projects today! I love all 3. The burlap on the flower adds so much visual appeal, the flower on the journal is amazing, (I need to try making these) and your card is STUNNING! I love every detail! As always, your fussy cutting is amazing! The gold embossing is striking and forget about those sequins! Oh my gosh! I need to look into that die!! Your crafty day was a success!

We have beautiful weather here today, low 80’s, light wind and bright beautiful blue skys! I was outside reading for a bit. I am still taking it easy today, not in as much pain but really feeling exhausted so I have a nap planned in my future!

I hope your Sunday is a good one,
    Donna

    1. Hey Donna!
Thank you ver much! I had a great time making the projects and I’m so glad that you like them! The burlap flower will be made again, it wasn’t too bad. The sequin dies was a must have, I love it and the pieces fall right out!
I’m glad that you are taking it easy today and that it was a nice day too! It was nice here, I ran a few errands and bake with my friend. The weekend wasn’t as productive as I had hoped but it’s all good! I felt a nap coming on around 5:45, but I pushed through! LOL!
My day was good and I hope that rest of yours was too! 🙂

  12. You fussy cut the sun? OMG your nuts, absolutely crazy. It is gorgeous, want to cut me a couple out? I really like how your boxes turned out. I can’t wait to try that flower, i have a lot of burlap, love the fabric.

    awesome post as usual.

    1. LOL! Yes Linda, I did! Yes, I am a little nutty! I don’t think I will cut it out again soon, sorry! LOL! Yes, I love burlap too! The flower was fun, I’ll do that again, not soon though! LOL! Thank you!! 🙂

  13. Oh my! I am in love with threat box and the journal. I like the way you’ve used the Choose Happiness set along with Kinda Eclectic. They go so nicely together as you’ve shown on your projects!!!

  14. Justin where is the “notes” stamp from? I am nuts about the journal. I have made several and would love to create one with “notes” as well. Thanks for all the inspiration!

    1. The notes stamp is from one of the Paper Pumpkin sets, I don’t remember which one. Paper Pumpkin is worth it just for the fun stamps! Thanks! 🙂
