Fab Friday 49

Hi everyone! It’s Friday!! You know how I feel about my Friday! I get to run some errands at work today too! It’s going to be a great Friday! Yesterday was as good as I made it! LOL! I came home and saw little Daniel for a bit. He just wants to go go go! I think that he will be walking in no time. He is so cute I can’t stand it! Last night was very good, it was Hunger Games – Catching Fire movie night with Andrew. I knew that he wouldn’t like the ending, it kind of leaves you hanging and he likes to have closure. But he had to see the movie and he did really like it! I told him only a few months until part one of the third book comes out. I will have to make sure that if we watch a series they are all available on iTunes from now on! I said it’s something to look forward to and now I’m guaranteed that we will see that one in the theater! 🙂

Good news! It’s a Fab Friday challenge day too! This time around we have a sketch for you…

Fab Fri 49 8-29-2014

Fun and simple, I stayed really true to the sketch too! My card base for today’s card is Sahara Sand Card Stock and across the bottom is a strip of Crushed Curry that I embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The two flagged strips are Basic Black and Tangerine Tango. I wrapped a piece of Basic Black Baker’s Twine around the card and tied it in a bow on the left side. The main panel is a piece of the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper backed with a piece of Basic Gray. My three happy little pumpkins are from the Fall Fest Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Tangerine Tango and Memento Tuxedo Black. The Fun Fall Framelits cut them out and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the card. After I put the card together I realized that I forgot a greeting! Thankfully the Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set made it easy for me to stamp the greeting on the panel even though it was already adhered to the card! A fun fall card and the pumpkins are just the cutest aren’t they?! There is my Design Team card for this week’s Fab Friday sketch challenge and I hope that you enjoyed it! Head on over to the blog and see what my talented teammates have come up with to inspire you! Make sure that you take a little time and add your card to the gallery so we can see what you do! Thank you so much for coming by to visit with me today! I hope that your Friday is a very good one! 🙂

  1. Hi Justin,
Sorry I haven’t been around this week. I did visit your blog everyday though. As always, I loved every one! My rheumatoid arthritis has really flared up this week, especially in my hands, so I had a difficult time using them. I just don’t want you to think I have deserted you! Hahaha! You probably didn’t even noticed!
I love the fact that you spend time with your nephew, it’s so important I think to be in our nieces and nephews lives. I loved spending time with all of mine, I have 9, 7 nephews and 2 nieces. Now they are all adults, some with children! Time goes so fast. Enjoy every moment you can with Daniel.
Now onto this card! This is the best card I have seen using the fall Framelits so far! It is adorable! I really haven’t been to impressed with what I have seen with what others have made with this set. But, as always you rocked this set! I love those pumpkins! And your color choice is perfect!
Do you have any plans for the long weekend? My family, daughter, son in law and granddaughter just left for North Carolina. So I have the house all to myself!
I hope your Friday is fantastic!
    Donna

    1. Hello Donna!
I’m happy when ever you visit, and yes, I have noticed that you haven’t been around. I’m sorry to hear about your arthritis, my uncle in England has it very bad all over as does one of my cousins. I understand the pain and hope that you are feeling better. I love spending time with family and friends. I do know that babies seem to grow up the fastest so I’m glad that I get to see Daniel as much as I do. My daughter starts college next week! Boy am I old! LOL!
I’m so glad that you like the card! I wasn’t sure about the stamp set but I’m glad that I got it, the pumpkins are pretty cute! The DSP has surprised me with all of the fun patterns in it. I am going to lay low this weekend. Just try to relax a little, maybe just play in the Stampin’ Galley with no project to complete, just mess around. I’m sure that things will change as they always do but I always roll with it! Enjoy your peace and quiet! I need to get away for a few days, just to unplug. I don’t think that I could do it though! Sad huh?! LOL! Enjoy your Friday my friend! 🙂

  2. Great card! I wasn’t going to get this set but then saw some cards I liked. Yours is now added to my list of likes! I don’t care for the face for the ghostie but figure I can make my own. Have a great holiday weekend. My “baby” is almost 27 and the other is 24. Time flies. I have great nieces & nephews – the oldest is now 13!!! WOW!!

    1. Thank you MaryJo! Yeah! I love being on your list of likes! I have seen the ghost done with googlie eyes and he looks really cute! I am planning to have a good weekend, a nice long one, as I hope that you are too! Yes, time sure does go by quickly! Enjoy your family!! 🙂

  3. Good Friday Morning Justin! Those smiling Jack-o-latern faces say it all for Halloween! A sentiment is just an added bonus! Love the fall leaves print in the Motley Monsters DSP, and many more designs. Didn’t think I would order it, BUT you (and others) have used it in so many cute cards! Have a great Labor Day weekend.

    1. Hello Beth!
The smiling Jack-o-laterns are really neat and happy! The prints in the Motley Monsters DSP surprised me, I only noticed the monsters at first! I hope that you have a great Labor Day weekend too! 🙂

  4. Good Morning Justin –

I love that DSP! I hadn’t paid attention to it until today when I saw your card. Now it’s on my “got to have” list for some future time. I am also fascinated by the many, many ways you find to use the Woodgrain EF. I have it sitting here but just don’t think of it! Grrrrr! Your card today is rock solid gorgeous and great for any age Halloween buff. Terrific job.

This weekend begins my favorite time of year. Hopefully I’ll have the chance to dig out some fall decorations and spruce up the house with them a bit. I noticed last week that leaves are already beginning to turn here in Maine. A bit too soon for that if you ask me. My tomatoes are just turning red on the vine.

Have yourself a Fantastic Friday and a Wonderful Weekend.

    1. Hi there Grace!
Yes, I too love that DSP! The Woodgrain EF is by far my favorite, it really is so good for so many different things! My friend Maureen will love the card, she is crazy for Halloween stuff!
I have to say that I like the Fall but Spring and Summer are still my favorites. I think that last years awful winter solidified that! I do like the colors of Fall better, more earthy. The leaves haven’t started here yet, it’s way too early for that!
You have an amazing weekend my friend! 🙂

  5. Hi Justin! Oh my how I love this card of yours! Again I think Halloween is almost my favorite holiday! That dsp rocks! So cute! I have to say I’m still not over your Halloween card from yesterday…I don’t know why I’m so surprised—you consistently think outside the lines, you’ve taught me new things and you are just so dang creative! I really enjoy your blog with the tidbits you share about your life. Thank you! I also love the way you are “staging” your photos with the washi tape. I love it. Sounds like you had a nice evening with two favorite guys in your life. 😉 We have a relaxing weekend which I’m looking forward to! Have a great Friday!

    1. Hello Karen!
Yeah! I love when you say that you love my card! I thought of you when I was putting it together, now when I think of Halloween you pop into my little brain! I am so happy to have taught you new things. I am constantly trying to find new things and learn myself and I love that I get to pass it on to you! I enjoy your visits, they really are a highlight in my day! I’m so glad that you noticed the photo. I added the wood a while ago and no one said anything, I was surprised! Yes, I did have a wonderful day with my two favorite guys. I had a relaxing evening and am itching to make something but it’s a little late to start that! I hoe your Friday was a good one! 🙂

  6. I love driving by the pumpkin fields in the fall and seeing the changes in colour and the anticipation of pumpkin pies, cooler weather and falling leaves really give me a sense of peace and happiness. Your card does the same. Thanks for sharing.

    1. When you paint a picture like that one Penny, how could one not like Fall?! Thank you very much! I hope you had a lovely day! 🙂

  7. Loving the pumpkins Justin, very scary! The Holiday catalogue is great and my wish list is quite long. Daniel is very adorable and love the photo’s you have previously posted. Have a great weekend.
    Michelle xo

    1. Thank you Michelle! Scary and cute at the same time! LOL! This Holiday Catalog is one of the best yet I think! I do thing Daniel is just the cutes and I am a little biased so it’s nice to hear that from you too! You have a wonderful weekend too!! XOXO

  8. Really great card, love those pumpkins, although I’m not ready to give up summer yet, an end to this humidity would be nice.

I LOVE The Hunger Games, awesome books and they did a great job on the movies. I’m impatiently waiting for November when 3 comes out.

    Have an awesome weekend

    1. Thank you Linda!! I am not ready for summer to end either! It is supposed to get humid here too but that’s ok, we have had one of the nicest summers ever this year! The Hunger Games books were amazing and they have done a wonderful job with the movies too! Andrew will be very happy to know that the new movie come out on November 3rd! You have a wonderful weekend too! 🙂

  9. I used the wood grain folder at a class this week and realized I needed it. What wonderful detail! Hope your long weekend is relaxing and fun.

  10. Cute card Justin – love the happy pumpkins on the DSP background – not scary at all! I’m with Andrew on the movie too – I think the Hunger Games movies are great, but the ending leaves a lot to be desired! Best wishes for a fun weekend.

    1. Thanks very much Joanne! Happy pumpkins and nice leaves! Andrew will be happy to know that you commiserate with him! You have a fun weekend too! 🙂

  11. Hi Justin. I am always looking for non scary Halloween cards and yours is great. I like the pumpkins and the wood grain embossing folder layer. Will you share you measurements for the various pieces? Thanks. Deb
