Freshly Made Sketches 150

Ahh yes my faithful friends… it’s that magical day of the week, the one that I love the most! It’s FRIDAY!! Ok, got that out of the way! LOL! I had very nice day yesterday, work was good, I snuck out a little early which of course makes it better! I played in the Stampin’ Galley for a bit but the highlight of my evening was being a guest speaker on the Pals Webinar! What an honor to get to speak to such an amazing group of talented peeps! It was everything I thought it would be and more! Mary Fish’s blog was the first blog that I followed. Just a little star struck! LOL! I’ll stop now! How are things by you? Any big plans for the weekend? I’m going to escape to Manhattan tomorrow morning to spend some quality time with my friend Kim. The weather isn’t supposed to be the best but it’s the city so what does that matter?!

Today I have a very simple card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge, here is the sketch…

Freshly Made Sketches #150

I have been really having fun with using sponge daubers to apply ink to projects. I really love the blending and the look that it gives. My card begins with a base of Tangelo Twist Card Stock. Across the bottom is a piece of Champagne Glimmer Paper that I adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue. I stamped the greeting from the For All Things Stamp Set* in Chocolate Chip, using my Stamp-a-ma-jig for perfect placement! My leaf and acorn are cut from Coaster Board using the Autumn Accents Bigz L Die. I used my Sponge Daubers to apply some Chocolate Chip, Garden Green, Daffodil Delight and Tangelo Twist Ink. The leaf is adhered to the card with Fast Fuse Adhesive and the acorn with a Stampin’ Dimensional. I love the texture that you get from the ink on the Coaster Board and the sparkle along the bottom is just fun! There is my simple card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge, I hope that you enjoyed it and are inspired to try a little sponging! Thanks for stopping by and have the best Friday ever! 🙂

  1. Good Morning Justin:
I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am that fall is coming. It’s my absolute favorite time of the year! The colors, the smell of apple pie baking in my oven, the scarecrow and pumpkin decorations around the house all add up to lots of smiles for me. Now, add to that some beautiful cards like the one you did today and it all becomes a sit back, sigh and say “life is good” kind of day. I love, love, love, love this card! Bright, cheerful, warm and sparkly! You put a huge smile on my face today. Have yourself a Fine Friday and enjoy Manhattan enough for both of us! 🙂

    1. Hello Grace!
I like fall but spring is still my favorite! I do like the smell of apple pie and the colors too, but it also means that It will be cold soon, that I don’t like! Thank you, I’m glad that my card made you happy! I like it’s simplicity! You have also put a nice big smile on my face, but you do that every day! Friday was good and I’m looking forward to wandering tomorrow! 🙂

  2. Oh how I wanted to join in on the Pals Webinar last night…..especially when I saw that you were the guest speaker! Unfortunately I had a prior commitment. I betting you did just fine. Your daubing skills are excellent. Love this rich and simple card. Bring on fall in all it’s glory. My most favorite season.

    1. Oh, I’m sorry that you missed the webinar Lisa. I had a lot of fun! I really am loving the sponging of ink lately! Simple cards are needed sometimes, don’t you think?! I like the season, just not the cold! 🙂

  3. Hi there Justin! I fell for your Fall card today! 😉 It’s so pretty…I love the fall colors you used. I agree with the others…fall is my favorite time of the year also…pumpkin festivals and hot cider! The shading on the coaster board is just lovely. The glimmer paper adds just the right touch! Have a great time in the city tomorrow. Hope you are able to share some pics with us! Have a great rest of your day!

    1. Hi Karen!
LOL! That was a good one! I laughed! Thank you! I do so love the darker colors! And a little sparkle makes everything better! I hope that you had a nice Friday! I’ll make sure and take some pictures! 🙂

  4. CAS but very elegant. Love this! Yep, too love applying ink with foam or other tools, you get a unique look each time. Just got some chipboard in, gotta try die cutting with it and then inking away.

    1. Thank you Linda! I need a simple card every once in a while! Have fun with your chipboard and ink!! I know that I did! 🙂

  5. Great card Justin! Love those fall colours and that sparkly gold trim! Fall is one of my favourite seasons and so I’m so excited to start making fall stuff. Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!
