Mojo 359

So how was Monday for you? Mine was rather productive! I love a productive day especially when it’s a Monday. The weather was little warmer here today but still very nice. Work was not too bad, again, pretty good for a Monday. I came home and had dinner with the ‘rents and then crafted for quite some time. I had mentioned that I have a bunch of projects to make and I put a pretty good dent in them last night. Makes me very happy! Tonight I will finish off the projects and then maybe tomorrow I will get to relax for a bit. That would be very nice indeed!

It’s Tuesday and that means there are some new Stampin’ Up! specials. Here are this week’s deals…

One of my projects from last night was my Mojo Monday sketch challenge card. Here is the sketch the lovely Julee Tilman has given us…

Mojo359

I used some unexpected DSP for my background. I love it when I look through a pack and get a nice surprise! My card starts off with a base of Smoky Slate Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper Pack*. It sort of reminds me of “Bewitched”! Next up is a piece of Basic Gray that is adhered somewhat in the middle of the card. My tag is a piece of Whisper White and I cut the top with the Angled Tag Topper Punch. I used a piece of Smoky Slate and the punch again along with the 1/2″ Circle punch to create the reinforcement. A piece of Bermuda Bay Baker’s Twine is tied through the top and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a piece of Bermuda Bay for the frame and a piece of Smoky Slate for the backing. Inside are three feathers from the Four Feathers Stamp Set* that I heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum Card stock and cut out with the Feathers Framelits*. I adhered them under the piece of Silver Foil Sheet that I flagged on both ends. A piece of Bermuda Bay 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon is slipped under the circle and adhered to the inside of the card with Sticky Strip. My greeting is from the A Happy Hooray Stamp Set and is stamped in Bermuda Bay and punched out with the 1 3/8″ Circle Punch. I love the colors together and the sheep of DSP from the Motley Monsters DSP is just so cool! So there is my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge, I hope that you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for hanging with me for a bit today, I always appreciate our time together! Have a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

  1. Feathers and Bermuda Bay!!! Two of my favorite things! Love how you made the tag reinforcement (Smokey Slate) to match the background in your circle, they compliment each other using the same color and shape. The Motley Monsters DSP print is wonderful here! Will have to take another look at that. Glad to hear your Monday was productive!

    1. Yes Beth! Mine too! I do love a tag and the reinforcement just makes it a bit more authentic! I love that print from the DSP, I did;t see it at first! 🙂

  2. Justin, Beautiful card! Love the vellum feathers. My order with that dsp arrives today – Yay! Who would have guessed such a pretty design would be in there. I love the sheet with the monsters too. Have a great day! Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thank you Gerri! I love to heat emboss on Vellum! You are going to love the DSP! It’s so much fun! Enjoy the rest of your day! 🙂

  3. Oh man Justin – those feathers are absolutely gorgeous. I have not had any success at embossing vellum. Don’t know what my problem is but normally when I try it the vellum sheet gets all funky. Yours turned out perfect and the stark white of the embossing powder combined with the bright turquoise color of Bermuda Bay is knock your socks off beautiful. What a great job you did and I’m so glad to hear you had a good Monday. Mine was a bit crazy so I’m hoping to get back to “normal” (whatever the heck that is) today. LOL Have yourself a Tantalizing Tuesday to reflect the gorgeous card above.

    1. Thank you so much Grace! I emboss on high heat about 1-2 inches away and I keep the heat moving! I had a busy night last night and another busy one tonight too! I hope that you can get back to your normal soon and that you have had a great Tuesday! 🙂

  4. This card is beautiful. I was never a big fan of feathers (I know, can you believe it), but you my friend have definitely gotten me hooked. 🙂 Have a great day!!!

    1. Thank you Kathy! I love feathers, as you know! They are really nice ones too! I hope that your day was wonderful! 🙂

  5. Hidee-Ho Justin! Oh baby is this a great card or what?? I fell like I tell you the same thing every day but honestly, you amaze me! This is gorgeous! Love the colors you used and the feathers with the vellum–LOVE those! Truly love everything about this card! I’m patiently waiting for Mr Brown to come to my house today…yay!! Can’t wait to dig into some more new things! Have a great day!

    1. Hidee-Ho Karen! Thank you very much! Listen, I’m happy to hear the same, the alternative isn’t good! LOL! Feathers and vellum, just the sequins missing! LOL! Oh, a visit from Mr. Brown, it’s a good day indeed! Enjoy! 🙂

  6. The feathers embossed on vellum are perfect! Yes, the DSP is right out of Bewitched. Who’d of thunk it but you? Love it all together. Great card! Have a light, feathery day! Nancy B

    1. Thank you Nancy! LOL! As soon as I saw the DSP I immediately thought of Bewitched! A light feathery does sound lovely! 🙂

  7. Are you kidding me????!?!?! I absolutely LOVE those feathers, so crisp and white against that vellum! And the colors of Bermuda Bay and Smoky Slate are beautiful. Great card Justin! I know you love your feathers, and so do I. I really need to get that stamp set and framelit bundle. WOW!

    1. LOL! Nope! Some of my favorite things are on this card! The colors and feathers, just missing the sequins! Yes, the stamp and framelit bundle is just fun! 🙂

  8. Wow Justin!
You amaze me everyday! I wish I could be inside your head when you go about designing your cards! This one is smashing, fabulous, striking, awesome, beautiful…I could go on and on! I love it! I love the embossed feathers! They make a great focal point. The colors are perfect for this card! I looked at that dsp and thought, I am going to pass on this one! But of course, you look at it and find this perfect piece for this card! Everything just works so perfectly together!

The weather here was perfect also! Today is another beautiful day, a little warmer than yesterday. But it was still cool this morning while I had my coffee outside. I really miss doing that during the winter. It is just so peaceful and quiet…the perfect way to start my day.

How long have you been crafting? Have you always had the bug? Was/is card making your main craft? I am just curious, I like getting to know more about you. Personally, it looks like you have been designing cards for a very long time. You are so very talented Justin. Thank you so much for allowing us to see your creations! They really are amazing!!

I hope your Tuesday is terrific!
    Donna

    1. Hi Donna!
Thank you very very much! I’m honored that I am able to amaze you! My head is a scary place! LOL! I really do appreciate your lovely words! You make me smile all the time! I was glad that I got the DSP just for that sheet alone!
I am really enjoying the weather! We have had a wonderful summer! I wish it could be like this all year! I am going to take my MacBook outside tomorrow morning and have my coffee, you have convinced me!
I have been crafting ever since I was little when I used to paint Christmas ornaments with my mum. I used to make car dashboards out of foam core. I have been seriously making greeting cards for about 4 years and it’s my favorite thing to do! I never get tired of it! I want to thank you for coming along and sharing in my days! You definitely enrich them!
I hope that you too had a nice Tuesday! Mine is about to get better, almost time to craft! 🙂

  9. Hey there!
I’m with all the other readers, this card is beautiful! Gorgeous, I tell you. I too feel l say the same thing over, but you’re very, very talented. Really creative. Awesome job as always. 🙂
I went for another MRI today. I am dealing with this for 7 months and honestly, I’ve just about had it. I still wear the hinged knee brace, go to therapy and deal daily with pain. But, then again, I know it could have been worse. How’s your knee injury? I really hope it’s going well.
Justin, you have a great night. Chat with you later. Hugs, Donna 🙂

    1. Hi Donna!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Listen, I don;t get tired of hearing it! Believe me! It means a lot to me that you think I’m good at this card thing! Don’t forget that!
I can imagine that you are way past done with all of the issues that you have had. I know that I would be! Yes, it could have been worse but that doesn’t make it any easier. My knee is much better thank you for asking. I have been able to avoid hitting it so it has had time to heal! With my long legs that’s no easy task! LOL! I hope that you had a good day and that these issues that you are having will soon be a thing of the past! Hugs to you too my friend! 🙂

  10. Another gorgeous creation, I love your feathers on vellum, t makes everything soft. Great colors, I especially like how the circle highlights your feathers. The tag is a nice touch. I’ll take it!

    1. Thank you very much Linda! I do love some heat embossing on vellum, it makes everything look so much different. Shall it send it on to you then! 🙂

  11. PS, guess what I got my Holiday Catalog today. I’m so excited! By the way, love both of the cards especially the red one. That’s my favorite color along with black. Amazing cards as usual. Take care! 🙂 Donna

    1. Ooh! That’s fun Donna! I placed another order this morning! LOL! I’m happy that you liked the cards! I like the red embossed with the woodgrain, a little different! Enjoy your evening! 🙂

  12. Don’t ever stop! I love all of the gorgeous things you create. I’m not sure if I can say I was productive today. I spent it at work, and then trying to clean out my email inbox. I was out of town for a week helping my dad sort out some of my mom’s things and clear it out. Not an easy or light task, but it had to be done.

    1. Thank you very much Theresa! I hope not to ever stop! I’ll be heading into the Stampin’ Galley shortly! I have those days, work is just an annoying thing that we have to do to buy stamps! Email get so overwhelming, I have at least 200 plus a day! My parents are heading to PA this weekend to start on my grandmothers house, not easy at all.

  13. Hi Justin, saw this one on pinterest & had to come & comment. Your card is awesome! The color palette is fabulous – strong & crisp. Every element sits beautifully on its own & in combination with all the others to create a striking card! I’m “bewitched” by it. 🙂

    1. Hello Helen!
Thank you very much for coming by! I appreciate it! I had fun making the card and I’m glad that you really enjoyed it! 🙂
