Pals Paper Arts 216

That was a nice Friday. Work was manageable and after I came home and crafted for a bit and then watched a little TV. I needed to unwind a bit. The week was a busy one but always worth it. This morning I’m off to see my friend Kim in Manhattan, hopefully the weather with hold out. It was supposed to rain here yesterday but it was just really cloudy. They say that it should clear up around mid-day if it does rain so that’s not too bad. Kim is puppy sitting at a friends on the west side so I’m hoping that I will be able to walk across Central Park. The last time I did that was with Andrew and it was dark and a little on the creepy side! What kinds of things do you all have going on this weekend?!

I decided that today would be Pals Paper Arts day. This week they have cooked up a fun sketch…

PPA 216

Pretty simple but I had some fun with it! The card base for today’s card is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Kraft Card Stock that I covered the entire card front with. The two panels are Whisper White on top and a piece of paper from the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack on the bottom. I ran a piece of Hello Honey through the Big Shot with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit and used my Paper Snips to trim away some of it to make the strip. The flower is from the Beautiful Bunch Stamp Set and is stamped in Blushing Bride on Blushing Bride, I stamped it one last time in Hello Honey on Hello Honey for the center that I cut out with my Paper Snips. I punched both of the flowers out with the Fun Flower Punch and stacked them on top of one another with Stampin’ Dimensionals.Behind the flower is a piece of Mossy Meadow that I cut out with the Flower Frenzy Bigz L Die. Finally, my greeting is from the Honeycomb Hello Stamp Set and is stamped in Mossy Meadow on a piece of Whisper White that was left over from a previous Hexagon Hive. I love that just making the center of the flower a different color makes it look much more realistic and the way that Kraft somewhat grounds everything. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge! I love having you stop by andย I hope that you have a Sumptuous Saturday! (Thanks Grace, LOL!) ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Hi Justin,
Simple? You call this simple? Looks like a lot of work and play went into this lovely card. Cute, I love it! But then again, there’s not a day that goes by, that I don’t dislike your work. You have a very creative mind, one that never stops thinking. Which is awesome for all of us. Great job! ๐Ÿ™‚
It’s raining here in PA. So, l guess we’ll just call it a lazy day. After l vacuum and go to the store, that is. Never a dull moment always something to do.
Stay dry and have a wonderful day! XOXO ๐Ÿ™‚ Donna

    1. Hello Donna,
LOL! I found it simple and I didn’t think I used a lot of stuff until I typed the post! Thank you! I’m so happy to hear that you enjoy my projects! I enjoy your visits! I do think about making something all most every minute of the day, scary huh?!
My parents are on their way to my Grandmother’s house to take card of some stuff and my mum text me to tell me that it was pouring in the Poconos. Now that you mention it, I need to vacuum, thanks for the reminder! Enjoy your lazy day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Good morning Justin! Beautiful card. I especially love how you used the hex die. That’s another one on my list! LOL Enjoy the city today!

  3. That card is an eye-popper; Beautiful Bunch is on my wish list. Thank you, Justin! The newlyweds are visiting this weekend and we are going to stay in out of the heat and watch some Outlander. I’m psyched! Have fun being a Big City boy today

  4. I really like the blushing bride ink on the blushing bride card stock. I do use that method of stamping on card stock with the same color ink quite often. It always makes it look like I did a lot of work when really I did barely anything. Love SU double stamping for sure. Your card today is fabulous. I have to agree with Donna this morning – what you call simple I would call pretty complicated. LOL You managed to turn a fairly simple sketch into a work of art. Love it! Have a Superb Saturday in Manhattan. Wish I was there also. Pretty drab and dreary day here today. I think I’ll make a backing for the wall hanging of Grand Central Station I just put together for my daughter, throw something together for supper and watch the race.:) Hugs

  5. Justin, this card is Beautiful!!! Love the colors and the hive die cut and the center of the flower is perfect!
I’ve been dog-sitting a beagle but she’s going home today. Add her to my 2 mutts and a friend is coming over today with her schnauzer for a “play-date”. So that’s 4 dogs in my yard playing today. Man are my neighbors going to hate meโ€ฆ.haha.
Enjoy your day in the city!

  6. Hi there Justin and another great card from the oh-so creative you!! Love the the pink and kraft together. I never get enough of that. You are so clever with that hexagon die. I’m afraid to cut mine but I should do that. You always make it look great! I’ll be doing some prep work for an upcoming workshop but I consider that fun work. It’s so muggy here again today, hard to do anything outside. Have a great time in the city, looking forward to your pics.

    1. Hello there Karen!
Thank you so much! I love the Kraft (don’t tell Crumb Cake! LOL!) Don’t be afraid to cut the Hexagon Die, if you make a boo boo just cut another one! Yes, prep for a workshop is fun! It was beautiful but overcast in the city today. I hope you had a great Saturday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Hi Justin, This is a great card! I never think to cover the whole card base with another piece, but it works perfectly here. I also love the stamping Blushing Bride on the BB card stock; that’s always a great look in my opinion. And your paper snipping detail is great…you can’t even tell it was done by hand. ๐Ÿ™‚ Enjoy your day I Manhattan…and just checking…how’s that knee?

    1. Hello Bobbi!
Thanks! I love covering the whole card front but using white or vanilla, then you don’t have to line the card! I too like tone on tone, love that we have all of the matching stuff to do it! And snipping, well you know how I feel about that! I had a wonderful time in the city! My knee is almost back to normal, thank you for asking! I hope you had a great day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. WOW! I love this. awesome take on the sketch. I NEVER would have guessed that was Blushing Bride. I love how it looks stamped on the card stock. Just gorgeous. I really like the touch of Hello Honey with the honeycomb die, just enough of an accent. and yes, you can never go wrong with Kraft.

I spent my day off yesterday at The Scrapbook Expo, It was so cool seeing all those new temptations but I was good, only bought a few Copic markers and my Les France Stencils. Ok and some bling and wash tape, but I was good.

I even managed to get a card made and its mailed!Thats my difficult step, mailing them
Hane an awesome day, hope your weather holds, We have had horrible humidity since Tuesday, you can’t even go outside, then the heavy rains come on and off. Terrible

    1. Thank you so very much Linda! Love the tone on tone! I like when I get to use a bunch of colors and they just go! Kraft is definitely a fave of mine!
I’m still jealous that you got to go there! I would have been in big trouble! LOL! Glad that you behaved! I need to get some Copics, I love our markers but I need more colors! Who doesn’t love some bling and Washi?!?!
Yes, I have trouble with the mailing part but my new label printer has helped!
I had a lovely day in the city the weather was nice but overcast, it didn’t rain. Sorry your weather is so crummy, it will pass soon enough! ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Hi Justin, Just beautiful card today! I love the Hexagon Hive behind the flower! And I have a story for you….before my workshop today, as the gals were gathering, they were discussing awesome cards they’ve seen lately – and their 2 favorites were yours! ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope you’re having a good time in the city! It’s almost 100 degrees here today, so nobody is outside for long!
