Wonderful Wisteria Lagoon Wreath and Manhattan!

Well the rain held out all day yesterday and I had a lovely day in Manhattan! I got in around 8:10am and parked on 90th. For my walk over to the West Side through Central Park I popped in my headphones, it makes me walk faster which if you know anyone that has walked with me in the city is way too fast! LOL! I stopped along the Reservoir and snapped a few pictures. You can see how overcast it was but the sun did peek out a few times. You also don’t realize how big the Reservoir is until you walk around it! It looks more like a lake!

Pretty huge huh?! Much to Kim’s dismay I got to her around 8:45 instead of my estimated 10:00! LOL! I’m early for everything and she knows this but still doesn’t appreciate it! We had some coffee and then I realized that I forgot my wallet in my car. I have an aversion to wallets for some unknown reason and I tend to leave it in my backpack or car. I used to leave it at home but Andrew fixed that for me! Kim suggested that we walk back over and have breakfast at the diner that way I could get my wallet, sounded great to me so we did just that! After breakfast we wandered around and passed by this new cupcake shop called Sprinkles. From across the street we noticed that they had a Cupcake ATM!! WHAT!! Needless to say we ran over to it and I had to give it a try! You can see from the pictures my silly excitement at the prospect of a little door opening and revealing a delicious treat!!

It was Red Velvet and it was DELICIOUS! I split it with Kim and she agreed that it was quite tasty! We will be visiting the Cupcake ATM again don’t worry about that! LOL!

Now on to the crafty part of the post. I was running through card ideas in my head on the way home and I thought that Wisteria Wonder and Lost Lagoon might look nice together so I gave it a try! My card base for today is Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Lost Lagoon and I heat embossed the sentiment from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set* with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My smoky Slate piece is cut on the bottom with the Ovals Collection Framelits for an interesting curve. The wreath is also from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set* and is stamped in Wisteria Wonder and Lost Lagoon. I heat embossed the bow with more Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and used the Wonderful Wreath Framelits* to cut them out. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them to the card and a few of the Frosted Sequins* are adhered around the wreath with Multi-Purpose Glue. I actually really love the colors together and as many of you know I’m not a red and green holiday type of guy! I also like using the Oval to cut away part of the panel, odd but sort of cool! I hope that you enjoyed my card for today along with my silly pictures from Manhattan! Thank you for checking in to see what I’ve been up to and have yourselves a super Sunday! 🙂

  1. Justin, Great colors! The oval cut out at the bottom gives the card a really cool look. The sequins are perfect! Great card!

    A cupcake ATM? That’s hysterical!

    1. Thank you Gerri! I’m always looking for new ways to mix it up a little! Love the sequins! The cupcake ATM was the best!! 🙂

  2. Hi Justin! Your post today made me laugh! I love the Manhattan pics and your story about the wallet! And then the cupcake ATM? Only in NY, right? Glad you had a good time! Ok and on to your fabulous card! I LOVE those colors together and I’m especially lovin’ the way you used the oval framelit! So cool…I’m gonna have to try that! It frames the sentiment perfectly! I was playing around with my wreath stamp and framelits the other day…that’s my new fave! I’m making all different seasons of wreaths. Very cool! Have an awesome day!

    1. Hello Karen!
I’m happy to hear that you got a giggle out of my post! I do have huge wallet issues and I don’t know what started them, I never want to take it anywhere! Cupcakes on demand, it’s the wave of the future! LOL! I had a wonderful day yesterday! Thank you! I have to keep coming up with little tweaks and the Oval Framelit worked! The Wondrous Wreath and matching Framelits are the best thing in the holiday catalog! I wish you an awesome day too! 🙂

  3. Justin, this is the best presentation I’ve seen of the new wreath set since it has come out. It wouldn’t have occurred to me to use wisteria, Lost Lagoon, and gray together, but they make a lovely combo. Also, that oval cutout at the bottom is ingenious. Now what about that cupcake ATM? Sounds like a step toward world peace to me!!

    1. Thank you very much Georgie! I love the colors together, so cool and soft. The oval at the bottom was fun! Yes, the cupcake ATM will definitely help make people happy! LOL! 🙂

  4. Where do I begin. Your Manhattan pics are gorgeous. I was thinking of making one of them my wallpaper. A Cupcake ATM! Wish I could put my hand into my monitor now and grab one.
I love the nontraditional colors of the card. These are my favorite colors too. That corner cut out is so unique. I love it all.
Are you going to the Unite & Excite on Sept 7?
    Have a great Sunday!
    🙂

    1. Thanks Nancy! I do love taking the pictures and sharing them with you! I’ll have some more tomorrow! The cupcake was soo good! Red Velvet is one of my faves! Lost Lagoon and Wisteria look pretty good, especially with the Smoky Slate! I love Lost Lagoon, it works with so much! I am going to Unite and Excite on September 7th, might I see you there?! You enjoy your Sunday too! 🙂

  5. How did you ever come up with the oval cutout idea? That takes this card a step beyond and really makes a huge difference in the presentation. I just love it. Perhaps it was the red velvet cupcake that brought on this ingeniousness? LOL So glad to hear the weather held out and that you had a good day in Manhattan. I was shocked at the size of the reservoir! We have lakes smaller than that here! Anyway my friend, have yourself a sensational Sunday and thanks for such a fantastic card.

    1. I have seen other cards with odd pieces cut out of the background and I thought that the Oval might be big enough to work. It may very well have been the cupcake, it was soo good! The weather was good, would have liked a little more sun but no complaints! Yes, the Reservoir is quite huge! I wish a super Sunday too! 🙂

  6. On my gosh- laughed and laughed with your cupcake ATM pictures. BTW you are not alone with the wallet thing- my husband frequently leaves his at home! Beautiful wreath card and color combinations Justin.

    1. Yeah!! That’s good that I made you laugh! I was just way too excited about the cupcake ATM! I knew that I was seconds away from deliciousness! LOL! I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one that leaves my wallet, I just don’t like it! LOL! Thank you! I’m glad you like the card too! Have a good Sunday! 🙂

  7. A cupcake ATM? I’m so jealous!!!! And your card is so pretty, too. What a great color combination.

  8. What a fun day! I love the colors and your layout, just beautiful. I am always leaving my purse in the car, hate to carry it, now if I would just remember to lock it! Have a great Sunday

    1. Thank you Jeffie! It was a great day! The colors are fun! I wonder why we don’t like to take the wallet/purse with us?! I’m sure there must be a good reason! Enjoy your Sunday too! 🙂

  9. Great color combo! I think the oval cutout gives the card a modern edginess that I love. Now, I’m off to get some red velvet cupcakes (thank you very much!) because this Texas girl can’t watch someone eat red velvet cupcakes and not join in!

  10. Love the card, Justin! The colors, sequins and oval cut-out are terrific!! And, as usual, the blog post is entertaining…. 🙂 Hope your Sunday is terrific!

  11. Justin, I love your card! I would never have thought to use Wonder Wisteria for a wreath! the cutouts and layout amazing! So pretty. I also want to come to Manhattan so I can go to the Cupcake ATM, who ever thought of that was a genius! lol!

    1. Thank you Jodi! I thought that the Wisteria would be good, it’s really fun with the Lost Lagoon! You definitely should come into Manhattan! Not just for the cupcake ATM! We could have some lunch! 🙂

  12. I always love your cards and tales of your Manhattan advertures but the Cupcake ATM had me rolling. Going to NYC in October and absolutely need to made a withdrawal–where is this magic machine?

    1. Thank you very much Marsha! I’m so happy to have you along! Yes, the cupcake ATM was fun, I definitely got a little overly excited about it! LOL! I want to say that the machine is on Lexington between 57th and 58th. You definitely need to pay it a visit! 🙂

  13. I love anything Red Velvet, yum. Those ATM cupcake machines fascinate me, are they fresh?

Interesting take on that Christmas card, different colors but WOW. Love it

    1. Yes Linda, Me too! The cupcake was very fresh and so good! Thank you! You know that I do love a Christmas card that lack red and green! 🙂

  14. What a cool, trendy looking Christmas card. I love the big scallop cut from the bottom. I have to try it! This stamp/bundle has just made it to the top of my list now for my next order.
I want a cupcake ATM in my town (then I could sneak over in the middle of the night and nobody would know I am eating cupcakes)!!

    1. Thank you Mary Alice! I needed to mix it up and I’m happy that it worked! The bundle is so much fun, I think it’s definitely a must have! I think we all want a cupcake ATM in our town! I would be sneaking out all the time! 🙂

      1. I thought about this all night, and I decided that I would like a cupcake ATM in my kitchen! I told my husband that we need to plan a trip to Brooklyn this fall to see our kids, but it’s really all about finding the cupcake ATM.
I have a son that lives in Brooklyn, and he is going to open a brewery soon, Kings County Collective Brewery, and I think I will suggest a beer ATM. I already sent him info about the new Kuerig for beer dispenser they are coming out with.

        1. LOL! Yes, that would be great wouldn’t it Mary Alice! You are too funny! Seeing the kids will be a bonus to the Cupcake ATM, or will it be the other way around?! I will have to go and pay a visit the said brewery! Keurig beer dispenser, I did not know about this! I will have become informed! 🙂
