Freshly Made Sketches 155 & Pals Paper Arts 211

WOW! Sunday already! Where did Saturday go?! At least I managed to get up at a decent hour today! LOL! I had a nice day yesterday, I crafted, ran some errands and had breakfast with Kim and the munchkins! I always seem to have more to get accomplished in a weekend than I have time for but isn’t that the case for most of us? We learn to prioritize that way right?! I’m playing a bit of catch up today so you get not one but two cards! Lets get to them, shall we?!

The first one up is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Karren…

Freshly Made Sketches #155

Do you see it?! A tag!! LOL! I did another traditional Christmas card, red and green. My base is a piece of Garden Green Card Stock and the strip of paper down the left side is a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack. The tag is a piece of Crumb Cake and I used the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the Project Life Corner Rounder to create it. My image and greeting are from the Making Spirits Bright Stamp Set. The cocktail is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and colored in with some colored pencils. The greeting is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Cherry Cobbler and cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals hold it in place. A few sequins from the Gold Sequin Trim are adhered to the tag and a piece of Gold 5/8″ Satin Ribbon is threaded though the hole and some Linen Thread is tied in a knot to secure it in place. The tag is then adhered to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love the way the colored pencils look with the Black heat embossing on the Crumb Cake and the plaid pattern in the Designer Series Paper is just perfect!

Up next is my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

PPA 221

I have wanted to play with a new stamp set that I recently acquired and this seemed like the perfect sketch! My card starts with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. The background is a piece of Lost Lagoon that is stamped in Lost Lagoon with one of the flowers from the Forever Florals Stamp Set randomly. I adhered a piece of Lost Lagoon 3/8″ Stitched Ribbon around the back of the card with Sticky Strip and then adhered the background to the base. The panel is a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper and my squares are the same flower stamped on Watercolor Paper and heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used my Aqua Painter and some Lost Lagoon Ink to color in the flowers and surrounding area. MyΒ Stampin’ Trimmer cuts it apart and some Multi-Purpose Glue adheres it to the panel (I put the largest clear block on top of the squares to hold them in place while they dried). I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the panel to the background. The greeting is from the same stamp set and is stamped in Lost Lagoon, the ends flagged and more Stampin’ Dimensionals to hold it to the ribbon. My friend Eva sent me a cool little punch tool that lets you punch out a piece of paper and adhere a clear epoxy dome to it in one step. I used a piece of the All Abloom Designer Series Paper Stack backed with a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper that I punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch to complete the card. I love the flowers from the Forever Florals heat embossed and colored in loosely with my Aqua Painter and the background is pretty neat too!

And there are my two cards for you for today. One for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge and the other for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. I hope that you enjoyed them both and I thank you, as always, for spending a little time with me today! Have a simply incredible Sunday! πŸ™‚

  1. Oh my, my, my – today’s a two4 day! I love when that happens especially when the cards are so beautiful! You outdid yourself today Justin, both cards are just gorgeous however, being the glitzy gal that I am, the second one with the silver card stock really blew me away. You are indeed the artiste! LOL Have yourself a Super Sunday and enjoy this amazing weather. You know what’s coming! πŸ™‚

    1. Yes Grace, you deserve a two-fer every once in a while. Thank you so much Grace! I knew that you would prefer the glitzy one, believe it or not I did think of that when I selected the background. I’m so happy that you enjoyed the sparkle and that you had a simply amazing Sunday! πŸ™‚

  2. Wow, Justin! Really love both these cards! The FMS card is so well balanced, and I love the traditional colors with a touch of gold. The PP card is gorgeous! Really love the technique you used and the monochromatic colors. Beautiful!

  3. Justin , vary beauitful , loved them both ‘ my fav the first one , I’m felling a case coming on, if you don’t mine ,
    Tfs,
    Hugs Frenchie Hum,

  4. Really, two for one. I feel so unaccomplished. these are gorgeous. i love the traditional flavor of the first card. and i love anything with a tag.
The glitter and monochromatic scheme of the second one speaks its elegance. Great color choice

    1. Yes, a two-for-one Sunday Linda! LOL! Thanks very much! I’m with you on the love of tags! I like the watercoloring on the second one. Thanks again! πŸ™‚

  5. Well hello stranger,
How are you? I’m doing good. Things have been really busy with me lately. But never to busy to check your posts each day. πŸ™‚ Loving all your creations. Today’s no exception. The first one reminds me of an old fashioned Christmas. The second one is gorgeous as well, anything with bling or sparkle catches my eye. Awesome Projects. Did you get the email I sent to you on your personal account? I was wondering how you liked the birthday card l made for you? Just curious. Weather this weekend is fabulous, however, it’s done havoc on my sinuses. Throat hurts, runny nose, sneezing etc. You know, good old change of seasons. Have a great rest of your Sunday, chat with you soon! πŸ™‚ Donna

    1. Hello Donna!
I’m well thank you, I’m happy to hear that you are doing well! I’m happy that no matter you level of busy you still find some time to come by and see what I’m up to! I thought that first card had a little vintage feel as well as the DSP giving it warm feeling too! The second one was just fun! I don’t think that I saw the email, odd. I actually didn’t get a card from you. I wonder what happened?! I’m sad now. I also wonder if there is a way for me to find out what happened to it?! The weather here was great today, my allergies are in full effect! Chat soon for sure! πŸ™‚

      1. What! No card! I’m sad too! πŸ™ More disappointed, I think. Not that it matters, but I even paid extra postage. It’s upsetting to me, because other than my sisters and their family, it takes a lot for me to send a card. I always feel like my work is never good enough. I usually only make one of a kind as well. Give me some time to come up with something else, and I will try again. I am so sorry. I’m bummed now, I was so excited to hear your thoughts. I resent you the message again, let me know if you got that email. As, for trying to find out what happened, I’m not sure, if you call the P.O. maybe they can track it. I didn’t get a return to sender. No worries, I’ll just have to put my thinking cap on and try again. Have a great day! Take care! Hugs, Donna πŸ™‚

        1. No need for you to be sorry Donna! I’m super bummed that it didn’t get here. You should never think that your work isn’t good enough, anyone that gets a handmade card from you will appreciate it! I know I would! I will talk to my neighbor who works for the PO and see what she says. I’m looking forward to a card from you! Thank you in advance! Again, I’m sorry that the first one didn’t get here. I hope that you had a great day! XO πŸ™‚

  6. Hey Justin! Wow! I love both of your projects today! Ok, you have talked me into getting that stamp set that you used in your first card! Your card is the best design using this stamp set that I’ve seen! But that does’t surprise me! πŸ˜‰ Love the gold sequins and ribbon and that linen thread you used to tie off the gold ribbon! Love it! And you 2nd card…wow…don’t even know where to begin on this one! Love the glimmer that this card has! Anything goes good with glimmer but I especially love the blues with it! So nice! Hope your day is going good…it’s another gorgeous day here. The colors of the trees are spectacular! So pretty! See you tomorrow!

    1. Hi Karen!
Thanks so much! I just recently acquired the Making Spirits Bright Set and I’m loving it! I had fun coloring it in with the colored pencils too! Lost Lagoon is definitely one of my favorite colors! I like all of the variations of the color when you use the Aqua Painter! I had a good day, not as productive as I would have been but it is what it is! The weather here was great too! No leaves changing colors yet! See you tomorrow! Have a nice sleep! πŸ™‚

  7. Hi Justin, both cards are simply beautiful. The FMS card is really so traditionally pleasing and would also make a perfect tag for wine, etc. at the holidays. I must keep that in mind. The PPA card is very elegant. The tool used used to create the embellishment sounds really neat and the embellishment really puts the card over the top. Perfect choice in color by using Lost Lagoon, too. Thanks for a double dip today!

    1. Hello Roseanne!
Thank you! Yes, the first cards tag would work well on it’s own. I love the Lost Lagoon watercolored! SO many different shades! The tool is so simple to use, insert the paper, insert an epoxy dome and punch! Glad you enjoyed the two-fer! πŸ™‚

  8. Great cards Justin! The traditional Christmas colours look great! Love that tag! The second card is fabulous! Love the glimmer! Thanks for joining us this week at Freshly Made Sketches!

  9. Justin, the the Lost Lagoon and Silver together are gorgeous! That embellishment you created with paper looks like an antique enamel button! Thanks for joining us at PPA this week.

    1. Thank you ver much Diane! I love Lost Lagoon, I think it might be my all time favorite color! The enamel tool is great! Have a wonderful week! πŸ™‚

  10. Hi Justin, I’m a little behind, but these are two great projects! I’m especially drawn to the first one! It’s so festive. Thanks for the inspiration!

  11. Justin – Great Cards! The Lost Lagoon Card is just stunning. The embossing; the watercoloring, the bling, the expoy dome with DSP. Wow! Brightened my day!

  12. Wow! Jason, your PPA card took my breath away! It is absolutely stunning!!! The “dome” is the perfect embellishment. Thanks for joining us this week!

  13. Justin, I love the Making Spirits Bright card, but the second card is G-OR-GEOUS! Love your use of the flowers here – and the added embellishment. Thanks for playing along with the PPA sketch this week.

    1. Thank you Brian! The Making Spirits Bright set is great and I loved putting the Lost Lagoon card together! Have a great night! πŸ™‚
