Paper Craft Crew 109

Happy Wednesday! Love the halfway point almost as much as I love Friday! LOL! So I don’t know if you are aware of how much of an Apple fan I am but yesterday was like Christmas! Apple announced their new iPhone 6’s, yes two of them! One with a 4.7″ screen and one with a 5.5″ screen. They also announced their new Apple Pay system where you can pay for things with your iPhone, I will be loving that as I hate to carry a wallet! They always have one more thing and this time it was the Apple Watch!! I can’t wait to get that! I have a smart watch now but it’s no where near as smart as the Apple Watch! I also got to “live” text the whole keynote to Andrew while he was in school! I felt like a little tech blogger! LOL! You can pre-order the new phone on Friday, it was a special day already but now, well, it’s even more special! UPS and FedEx are going to busy next week! 🙂

Oh, I forgot to tell you yesterday about the Stampin’ Up! weekly deals so here they are…

It’s Wednesday so that means it’s time for another Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. This is what we have for you this week…

PCCCS109 Sketch 9-10-2014

A really fun and different one don’t you think?! The funny thing is that I knew I wanted to use the Confetti Stars Punch, I just wasn’t sure how. My card starts off with a base of Crushed Curry Card Stock. On the lower half of the card I adhered a piece of paper from the Flashback Designer Series Paper Pack. In the center is a piece of Real Red that I punched with the Confetti Stars Border Punch and the used the Scallop Trim Border Punch along the bottom. I adhered a piece of Pool Party 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon around the back before using some Multi-Purpose glue to adhere the red to the base. My flag coming in from the top right is a piece of Basic Gray and on top of that is a piece of Very Vanilla. I stamped the notebook paper from the Tap, Tap, Tap Stamp Set in Pool Party, used the Spiral Border Punch along the left side and then rounded the corners with the Project Life Corner Rounder. The typewriter and greeting are from the same set and are heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Smoky Slate. My two stars are from the Be the Star Stamp Set and are heat embossed in Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder and cut out with the Stars Framelits. Stampin’ Dimensionals hold all of those pieces to the card. A Silver Basic Metal Button is adhered with a Glue Dot to the ribbon to finish off the card. I love the mix of colors and yes, I’m still a little addicted to heat embossing! I hope that you like my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Please take a minute to head on over to the blog and check out the other designer projects. Why not make one and upload it to the gallery for us to see?! I appreciate you stopping by to see what I have been up to. I hope that you all have a very happy hump day! 🙂

  1. Justin,
I really like this card. I like the color combo a lot. They way you have everything laid out is perfect. That real red piece punched out with the star confetti punch is perfect! I love the embossed typewriter and stars! Another great card!
It is always a good day when Apple announces their new products! I am excited about the apple pay system. I love anything that streamlines my life!
I am doing the same thing I did yesterday, just resting. There is a little less pain this morning, I will take it!
With all this resting I am watching a lot of Netflix! I just watched a good show, The Assets. It is based off of real events. It is basically about the cia and the kgb during the cold war. Really interesting. A little slow but the content is really good.
I hopeyour Wednesday is a good one!
    Donna

    1. Hey Donna,
Thank you! I love the colors! Bright but not too bright. I really love the Confetti Stars Border Punch, so neat the way it lets color behind it peek through! It’s a great day when Apple has their September event! It’s going to be hard to wait until next year for that watch! I too am excited about the Apple Pay, anytime I don’t need my wallet it’s a good day!
I’m glad that you are resting and it’s excellent to hear that you are in less pain! I will have to look up the Assets. I don’t watch a lot of TV but if I can see a show at my leisure I may just watch it! I really am happy to hear that today was a little better! 🙂

  2. Happy Hump Day . . . love every little detail of this card. The textures and colors are great. I’m loving your new props and pops of colors. Great lighting on your photos too, no shadows.
    🙂

    1. A very Happy Hump Day to you too Nancy! I am refining my picture taking, I’m hoping that it gets even better when I get my new iPhone! Glad that you are enjoying the new style! 🙂

  3. Good morning Justin, What a busy design! So much to see. Love how you used the star punch and the two embossed stars, one as a background and the two others as focal points! I think my favorite element is the little piece of lined notebook paper!! Guess it’s the school teacher in me! Have a wonderful, wacky Wednesday!

    1. Hello Beth!
Yes, it was a pretty busy sketch, but I do love a little collage! I’m loving the stars and feathers, but you already know that! LOL! The notebook paper look and that Spiral Border punch are just so neat! I hope that you had a great Wednesday! 🙂

  4. Apple is amazing, right?! I got my first iphone a year ago (and an old version at that!) and do love it!
Your card is amazing as always. I didn’t realize how obsessed I would be about stars when I ordered the framelits and stamp set but I can’t get enough of them. Mr. UPS will deliver the feather bundle tomorrow and I can’t wait to use it!
We have the same style of card making. I love lots of layers and elements in a card. I can tinker with a card for longer than I should admit but love the process and watching it all come together.
    Happy Wednesday!

    1. Apple is just incredible! Can you imagine what we would be doing if they never came out with the iPhone?! Their products just work and work well together! I’m happy to hear that you will be getting your feathers tomorrow! You are going to have so much fun! I too love the way a card sort of materializes. I usually know what I’m going to do and then it just takes shape! So cool to see it when you are done! Happy Wednesday to you too! 🙂

    1. Thanks Wendie! I too love that Flashback DSP! Both of the stamp sets are great and work pretty well together! Yeah! Apple is just the best aren’t they?! 🙂

  5. There is so much going on with this card- what a collage. It is really an amazing card.
As far as Apple goes- the electronic wallet might work for guys but I have got to have my purse- electronic wallet or not. Can’t wait to hear about the smart watch – looks very fun.
    Happy hump day Justin!

    1. Thanks very much Marty! I do love a little collage! Yes, you have your purse, but wouldn’t it be nice to just use your finger print to pay for things?! The smart watch looks amazing, did you get a chance to watch the video on their web site?! Happy hump day to you too! 🙂

  6. Wow! That sketch would strike fear in my heart — so much going on! But you’ve made a perfect card using it! I love the mix of elements you’ve used. Impressive job, Justin!

    1. LOL! I was a little puzzled when I first saw it but then I thought I can do a college style and I was ok after that! So happy that you enjoyed the card! Have a nice rest of your week! 🙂

  7. Totally rocks! Love ‘old school’ communication. When I was a little girl, my father would sit at our kitchen table and type out his reports. With me by his side I was amazed by the typewriter. Tap, tap, tap, tap……………..ding. Then he would start all over again. Now I have his typewriter. Just can’t let it go. The Confetti Stars and Framelits and throw in the Pool Party embossing….very nice. Can’t forget the Spiral Border Punch, who doesn’t have memories of that paper in school. Yes, it was exciting seeing the iPhone’s and Apple watch. What’s next?
Hoping you have a good day.

    1. Yeah! Thanks so much Lisa! Yes, remember when people actually used typewriters?! I have a vintage typewriter too. It’s so odd to use it now though, but it does bring back memories! We used to play with all the time as kids! I really like the Pool Party embossing on the Basic Black. I have always loved the spiral border punch, and yes it brings back memories too! Apple is so smart, they may not be the first to come out with something but when they do release it it’s always the best! I hope that you had a nice Wednesday! 🙂

  8. Wow! Great job with the PCCSC this week Justin. I’ll admit that when I first saw the sketch I was like, “Holy overboard on everything.” That’s a lot going on! But, you did a fantastic job and it actually looks kind of clean and simple despite every detail from the challenge! Fun fun.

  9. Justin, I LOVE your collage cards!! This one is great! Tap, tap tap is a great set and I love the embossing and the stars….. Super job!! Thanks for sharing.

  10. Another awesome card, I love that stamp set and I really like your star border punch on this card.

I have a Mac which I love, love, love. But for my phones I’m a Samsung Girl, although I will say the watch caught my attention

    1. Thanks so much Linda! The Confetti Stars Border Punch is fast becoming a favorite! If you love your Mac you would love the iPhones! You need to give them a try! 🙂
