SUO Challenges 105

I made the best of my Monday, like I said no point in dwelling on the negative! Work just keeps getting crazier but it is what is. I just keep telling myself that it all gets better once it going home time! I made my escape and went to my parents for dinner. My little man Daniel was there cute as ever. His mom was feeding him and makes the cutest faces when he gets something that he doesn’t really like! But he still eats it and makes the face ever time! LOL! After dinner I went over to Sandy’s house for card class. It’s always a laugh and I’m usually the jokester! When I got home Taylor had stopped by and gave me some more props for my pictures, Christmas stuff which I needed. I made some coffee and sat down at the computer to catch up on comments and emails. Then I get caught up looking at stuff on-line and before I know it it’s midnight!

The post that I have for you today is for the SUO Challenges blog. The rest of the Design Team and I have created projects for this challenge which is Embellishments! What do you think that I used?! My card begins with a base of Blackberry Bliss Card Stock and my background is a piece of Pistachio Pudding, although in the pictures it looks a bit Coastal, that I adhered to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals! I used the Striped Scalloped Thinlit to cut out some Gold Foil Sheet and adhered it to the lower half of the card with Multi-Purpose Glue. A piece of Gold Baker’s Twine helps break up the transition to the plain card stock. My tree is from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Mossy Meadow on Pistachio Pudding. I heat embossed the ornaments in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and punched the tree out with the Tree Punch. To back it I cut out a piece of Blackberry Bliss with the Chalk Talk Framelits and stamped a stamp from the “Vintage” Jolly Old Saint Nick Stamp Set in Encore Gold Metallic Ink. The tree and the tag are adhered to each other and the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the Good Greetings Host Stamp Set and is stamped in Mossy Meadow up in top left corner. Three 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins are randomly adhered with Multi-Purpose Glue on the top right. Yes, I did use some sequins, shocking huh?! LOL! There is my Design Team card for the SUO Challenges Embellishments challenge. Take a minute and go over to the blog to see what the reset of the Designers have done and enter you card in the gallery! I hope that you enjoyed my card and that you shave a Terrific Tuesday! Thank you for your visit! 🙂

  2. Justin,
Wow! Stunning! Beautiful! Unique! I love it! Where do I start? First, the color combo is perfect! Next is the Framelits! ! Oh my gosh, this is stunning! I love the dimension it adds and the regalness it brings to the card. Just perfect! You always amaze me Justin!
Sounds like you had a nice evening. Do you eat at your parents every week? I use to do that with my parents but now I live 8.5 hours away! Your description of Daniel eating is hilarious!
I am not doing too much again today, just resting and taking it easy. My doctor said it is a long road but it will be worth it ….I hope!
    Have a great Tuesday!
    Donna

    1. Oh my goodness! After all those words, I forgot to mention that the sequins ate perfectly placed! I am in the fence about the Festival of Trees set, but it does look beautiful here!
      OK chatty Donna is done!

    2. Hi Donna!

I did have a nice evening! Yes, I try to eat with my parents every night, they won’t be here forever unfortunately. I have to video Daniel the next time he eats! I couldn’t stop laughing!

  3. Good Morning Justin:

I really love the Festival of Trees set. In addition to Christmas cards they are great for masculine cards also. You managed to combine a lot of things that I would never have expected would look good together into a card that looks fabulous. Although I am pretty much a traditionalist when it come to color on Christmas cards, somehow I still like this one. Obviously there is lots of artistry in this particular card and I admire that.

How nice of Taylor to be bringing you all these great things to coordinate with your cards for your photos of them. She must have her father’s flair and talent for presentation. What a great kid.

You have yourself a Tremendous Tuesday. We have friends arriving in their brand new RV today and they will be visiting until Saturday when they head to NH for the race. I’m thinking I may follow them in the car as the race isn’t sold out yet. Depends on the weather.

    1. Hello Grace!
Yes, they would be good for masculine cards! Very clever! I love to combine lots of different things and get them to work together, especially when you say they work! I am very non-tradiotional when it comes to Holiday cards, I prefer blues as you know!
Yes, Taylor is a pretty good kid indeed! She is pretty creative, she likes to paint!
I had a pretty good day. I hope that you enjoy your company! How nice that they are brining their own place to stay too! I think a trip to the race would be fun! You should do it! Hope the weather holds out! 🙂

  4. Very interesting color combo…..you make it work. The scalloped thinlits die is very elegant in the gold foil sheet. Kudos to Taylor for being your prop girl. Very nice job.

    1. Thanks Lisa! I like when I can take colors that you wouldn’t think would work and make them! Love the Gold Foil Sheet, it’s great for so much! Taylor is a great prop scout! 🙂

  5. Hi Justin- I can see how you stay up past midnight to I get everything done that you do!
This is a great “non traditional ” holiday card that really works. The gold touches just bring everything together.
Love hearing about your family – so fun!

    1. Hello Marty!
I sometimes do have to stay up late, it’s when it happens just because I get lost in what I’m doing that I don’t really need to do it for! If I am going to be sleep deprived I prefer it’s for a good reason! LOL! I LOVE non-traditional Holiday cards! I did include the green though! I am happy to share with you and glad that you enjoy it! 🙂

  6. Your combination rocks, I never would pair those colors together but they work well on this card. I personally am not a fan of that scallop die, but after I have seen your creations I am having second thoughts. I love it with the gold paper.

    1. Thanks very much Linda! Love the Pistachio and Blackberry! The dies looks awesome but it’s very delicate so I use wax paper to make the separation easier! Just a little tip! 🙂
