Freshly Made Sketches 159 & Pals Paper Arts 225

I had a lovely day in Manhattan yesterday. The weather was perfect, nice a sunny and in the low 70’s! I went to see my friends Jim & Diane in the morning and then headed down to see Michael at the Ink Pad. I hung out there chatting with him and Barbara. We had some Chinese food for lunch and Andrew Garfield who plays Spider-Man stopped in to pick up some paint! Only in Manhattan! I left to come home around 5:30, made a few cards and then relaxed for bit. I have to tell you that I was a new kind of tired yesterday! One that I don’t think I have felt before! LOL! I did manage to get a little selfie of Michael and I, look at all of those stamps on the wall!

Michael and I Ink Pad

All in all a fun day and I feel much better today after getting some much needed sleep! Before I get to today’s cards I wanted to let you know that if you follow me on Blog Lovin’ I have good news! I was able to contact them and they kindly moved all of my subscribers to the new address! So there is nothing that you have to on your end! Yay!

Even though I was deliriously tired, believe it or not I managed to make two cards when I came home last night! My first one is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches #159

As soon as I saw the sketch I knew exactly what I was going to do! I really needed that yesterday too! My card starts off with a base of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. The background is a piece of paper from the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack. All of the stamped images are from the Cheerful Christmas Stamp Set. My greeting is heat embossed with Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Pistachio Pudding that I backed with some Cherry Cobbler before adhering it to the card. The three ornaments are heat embossed with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Cherry Cobbler and cut out with my Paper Snips. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere them to the card. For some sparkle I adhered Basic Jewels Rhinestones on top of the dot in the greeting. A simple fun traditional Christmas card! I love the Cherry Cobbler on the Pistachio Pudding, gives the card a nice brightness don’t you think?!

The second card for today is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

PPA 225

Again, another nice simple sketch! This card begins with a base of Garden Green Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Gold Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack. I used another piece for the first angled layer. The top angled layer is Calypso Coral and I heat embossed the greeting from the Hello Darling Stamp Set with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. After I adhered all of the layers together with SNAIL I adhered a few of the 2013-2015 In-Color Sequins and a few gold ones that I had randomly across the Calypso layer. I really do like the colors in the Gold Soiree DSP, definitely not ones that I would have thought to combine myself!

And there are my two card for today, one for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches and the other for Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. I hope that you enjoyed them both and as always, thank you so much for coming by to see what I have been up to! I wish you all a very happy Sunday! 🙂

  1. I love your cards as always but more importantly I have to say to are now the coolest person ever to my kids with your Spider-Man sighting lol we are watching the cartoon right now (well, they are, I read blogs lol). Thanks for the daily inspiration!

  2. I love NYC, on our last trip to the Big Apple I stopped in at the Ink Pad and was blown away by the selection they have in this tiny store – very typical of New York! Great job with the sketch, Justin. The Gold Soirée DSP really makes it pop! Thanks for playing with Pals Paper Arts!

    1. Yes! NYC is the best! The Ink Pad has a ton of stuff in a very tiny space for sure, but that’s NY! So glad that you enjoyed the card! Have a great week! 🙂

  3. Hi Justin:

Good to be home and trying to catch up with all that I’ve missed. All the stamp stores in our area have closed so it’s nice to know there is one in NYC that I can visit next time I go. Our team raised just short of $6,000. at the breast cancer walk. It was a cold day but sunshine and no rain! Yeah

Love the cards today and many of the others I’ve seen while playing catch up. It’s so nice to see traditional colors as so many demo’s are doing anything but. I really love that stamp and have to put it on my wish list.

I need to get a laptop or Ipad or something so that I don’t miss out while I’m on vacation. Sounds like you had a fantastic day in Manhattan. Makes me a wee big jealous! Hugs! 🙂

    1. Hello Grace!
I have missed you!! A lot has gone on since you have been gone! That blog finally got moved! Yay! Yes, you must go to the Ink Pad, it’s great! I’m glad that you walk was such a success! That makes me very happy!
Thanks for catching up! I do like non-traditional but traditional is ok every once in a while!
Yes! Get yourself an iPad! much more portable than a laptop! Manhattan was great as always! Hope you let me know when you come down! Hugs to you my friend! 🙂

  4. Not only are your stories and pictures of NYC great, your cards beautiful, but I love the little arrangements that you photograph your cards with.

    1. Thanks very much Wanda! I’m happy that you come along for my little adventures! I have fun with the pictures! I think the props make them a bit more fun!! 🙂

  5. Well even on the brink of exhaustion you still kick out awesome creations. I love the colors of the first card and the embossed ornaments. The Gold Soirée DSP really makes the second card pop.

Glad that you enjoyed the pic! It was nice today but not as warm. 🙂

  6. Hi there Justin, Your cards are lovely as always! I especially like the way you used the Christmas cheer ornaments. I passed this set by when I ordered my holiday sets. Now I’m re-thinking I may need Christmas Cheer. Your such an enabler. LOL!

    1. Hello Deba!
Thanks so much! LOL! Yes, I have been called the enabler more than a few times! LOL! 🙂

  7. Oh boy…. I sure would LOVE to be visiting that store with you! Look at all those beautiful stamp supplies! Yowza! I love both of your cards Justin. Until I read that you used Pistachio Pudding, I thought it was white and the photo didn’t show it well. What a great idea to use PP.! Love the other card as well. I love that paper and haven’t used it yet but both of your projects today gave me great inspiration! Hugs!

    1. It was great fun Bobbi! They have almost everything that you can think of! I’m so happy that you enjoyed the cards too! The pictures always mess up the colors, I need to work on that! Glad that you got some inspiration! Hugs to you too! 🙂

  8. Hi Justin. Congrats on your successful move! I know that when you start by saying, “As soon as I saw this sketch, I knew what I would do” that it’s gonna be a great card. Love the embossing on the pretty 1st card, and the Calypso and gold on the second card were yummy. I saw some stamps behind you in the store I’d like to get my hands on, too! (BTW, get some rest, for Pete’s sake!)
