Double Post – Pals Paper Arts & Paper Players

Another weekend over and done with. No complaints  from me, I had a nice weekend. Yesterday I kind of just hung around the house in the morning and made a card or two, or three. I should have cleaned a bit but I just wasn’t feeling it. I did end up going out with Heather for a while. We stopped by to see our Friends Neal and Steph’s and then headed out to Sonic for lunch. I have had a craving for a while! I got a bacon and cheese hot dog on a pretzel bun, everything should come on a pretzel bun! It was delicious. We stopped at Target on the way home and picked up some lunch for the week. I decided that I wanted to watch a movie last night so I sat down and put on Unknown with Liam Neeson. It was pretty good and I almost made it thorough the entire thing without being interrupted! LOL! Now we are back to the start of another week, one that will hopefully be a good one!

It’s Monday and that means that it’s time for the Paper Players challenge. I also have my card for the Pals Paper Arts challenge too since I used last week’s colors when I made my card on Saturday! Duh! First we’ll do the Pals Paper Arts card which is based on this week’s colors…

PPA 223

I did a tall skinny card just for fun! The card base is Tangelo Twist and my background is a piece of Basic Black. I used the Confetti Stars Border Punch on the right side and adhered it to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My tag is a piece of Very Vanilla, the top is punched with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the bottom corners are rounded with the Project Life Corner Rounder. I stamped the pumpkins and leaves from the Fall Fest Photopolymer Stamp Set in Tangelo Twist and Old Olive. The Fun Fall Framelits cut them out and Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the leaves to the pumpkins and the pumpkins to the tag. The greeting is form the “Vinatge” Delighful Dozen Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I threaded a piece of black hemp twine through the top and adhered the tag to the card with some more Stampin’ Dimensionals. A nice clean bright Halloween card and my little ceramic berry basket matches perfectly!

PPA 223-WM

My card for this week’s Paper Players is based on these colors from the challenge…

Paper Players #217

I didin’t want to do another Halloween card so I went the complete opposite direction. This card starts with a base of Hello Honey Card Stock. I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut out a window from a piece of Very Vanilla. My greeting is from the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set and is stamped in Mossy Meadow. I adhered the cut out panel to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The flowers are from the Stippled Blossoms Stamp Set and are stamped in Tangelo Twist for the base and Tangerine Tango for the shadows. A little time with my Paper Snips and they are ready to be adhered on top of the Mossy Meadow leaves that I cut out with the Flower Frenzy Bigz L Die. To finish off the card I stamped a butterfly from the Papillon Potpourri Stamp Set in Tangelo Twist, punched him out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch and adhered him to the card with a Glue Dot. I love that even darker fall colors can make a pretty flowery card!

There is your double dose of cards from me for the Pals Paper Arts and Paper Players challenges. I hope that you enjoyed them both, thanks s much for stopping by and enjoy your Monday! 🙂

Wonderful Calypso Espresso

I had a lovely day in Manhattan yesterday despite the rain in the morning. I went in early and met my friend Kim for some diner breakfast and then headed over to see my friend Ella. After Ella’s I went down to Penn Station and met Andrew then I had to stop by and see Jon and Mary for a bit. When we finished there we headed downtown to get some lunch. Andrew is a big fan of hummus so I thought that Hummus and Pita Company would be a good place to go. It was quite tasty as always! Andrew needed to stop by the Apple Store to get his lightning cable replace and who doesn’t like a visit to the Apple Store?! I got a text from Brian saying that he was in the city not too far from us so we went and met up with him for some Starbucks. On the subway ride back up we saw a group perform some acrobatic dance moves in the 34th Street/Herald Square Station. Only in Manhattan people! We stopped at Kim’s for a bit and then headed over to Isabella’s to drop off her Stampin’ Up! order and then it was time to come home. Here are some pictures from yesterday’s travels.

Andrew 14th Street

That’s Andrew just down the block from the Apple Store on 14th Street. Notice the lovely banana peel on the floor! LOL!

Brian, Me and Andrew NYC

Does it look like we were having a good day?! That’s Brian on the left in his Fire Department uniform. That was also after the Starbucks!

A fun day in the city indeed! After I got home I sat down to make my card for today and was inspired to use the You’re Wonderful Photopolymer Stamp Set and last week’s Pals Paper Arts colors! Ooops! My card base for today is Early Espresso Card Stock. The main stamp from the You’re Wonderful Photopolymer Stamp Set is heat embossed in Early Espresso Stampin’ Emboss Powder on So Saffron. I heat embossed the banners in Calypso Coral on Early Espresso along with the greetings and adhered them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The flowers are heat embossed in Calypso Coral on Vellum Card Stock and colored in with Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. I cut them out with my Paper Snips and used a tiny bit of Multi-Purpose Glue to adhere them to the card. I guess I liked the colors so much that they stuck in my head and what would one of my cards be without some heat embossing and vellum lately?! I hope you enjoyed today’s card and the city pics! Thanks for coming by to see what I have been up to and enjoy your Sunday! 🙂

Freshly Made Sketches 157

A very good Saturday to you all! My Friday was pretty good, The weather here was overcast with little peeks of sun, it was a little on the chilly side in the morning but got better as the day progressed. I guess the people in my department missed me yesterday because we all ate lunch together today! After dinner I sadly took my air conditioner out of my window, that for me signifies the end of summer and it was a bummer! LOL! I ran up to IKEA to see if I could get my new blinds, the ones that were here when I moved in were a mixed bunch to say the least. They had them and when I went to put them up wouldn’t you know that one of them was missing the hardware! I will have to wait until Monday to go back, only very brave people go to IKEA on the weekends! I’m off to Manhattan this morning, I have a Stampin’ Up! order to drop off and a few people to see and then I’m going to meet Andrew at Penn Station and we are going to wander around for a bit. I hope that the rain stops, we would like to go across the Brooklyn Bridge and that won’t be any fun in the rain. Fingers crossed peeps!

After I finished my around the house projects last night I sat down and made my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. This week the sketch is provided by Amy…

Freshly Made Sketches #157

Funnily enough I knew that I wanted to use some Burlap ribbon and gold, and that’s just what I did! My card base is a piece of Whisper White card stock. I covered the entire front with a piece of Kraft Card Stock. My center panel is some Gold Foil Sheet that I embossed with the Alphabet Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed with some Basic Black before adhering it to the card with some SNAIL. Next up is the 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon that is held in place with Sticky Strip. My hello is from the #hello Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Black and punched out with the 2″ Circle Punch. My “friend” is form the Let Your Hair Down Host Stamp Set and is also heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Black. I adhered both greetings to the Burlap Ribbon with some more Sticky Strip. I really love the Gold and Black with the Burlap and Kraft. I has an elegant yet casual feel to it! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I appreciate you coming by and remember that your visits make all of this possible! Have a amazing Saturday! 🙂

Fab Friday 52

Do you now what day it is?! I’ll bet you do! Yes… it’s FRIDAY! I had the best day ever at work yesterday! My entire department was out at an event and I was the only one in the office! I got lots of stuff done and even got to have some lunch with my friend Shane. It really was the best day ever!! LOL! I’m getting a haircut after work today and will be off to Manhattan tomorrow to drop off a Stampin’ Up! order to my friend Isabella. Andrew will be joining me and we are going to wander around a bit. Hopefully the rain that we are supposed to get doesn’t last all day or even better, finishes really early!

Every other Friday is a even better because it’s a Fab Friday! It’s time for our nest challenge and this time we have a some colors for you…

Fab Fri 52 10-10-2014

I debated about what I was going to do for a bit and I kept coming back to the same idea so I ran with it! The base of today’s card is Tangelo Twist Card Stock and the background is a piece of Blackberry Bliss with a piece of Basic Black behind it. I stamped the greeting from the September Paper Pumpkin Kit in Versa-Mark and heat embossed it in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My wreath is from the Wondrous Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Tangelo Twist and cut out with the Wonderful Wreath Framelits.I heat embossed the berries with more Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder, I didn’t let the black ink dry completely so I would get that speckled look on the leaves. The spider in the middle is from the Bite Me Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed too and then fussy cut with my Paper Snips. The string is also from the September Paper Pumpkin Kit and the spider and wreath are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Three sequins from the Frosted Sequins Pack are adhered by the greeting to complete the card. I think that I was channeling our Frightful Wreath when I made this card! I like the way the wreath pops off of the Blackberry Bliss background and the Silver Embossing gives it a little added dimension. I hope that you enjoyed my card for the Fab Friday color challenge. Stop by the BLOG and check out the other projects from the rest of the Design Team and enter one of yours in the gallery! Thank you for your visit and most of all for your comments! They always brighten my day! Enjoy your Friday people! 🙂

Mojo 366

Yesterday was another very busy day at work. Danielle and I did get to go on a field trip in the morning to BJ’s, Target and Home Depot to pick up some things for an event that is happening today. Anytime out of the office is a good time! And guess what? We ran into my parents in BJ’s! How funny is that?! When I got home I made a card and watched Forever from Tuesday night, I really like that show a lot. I was also listening to Sam while I was making my card. I just can’t stop listening to that album!

Today I have my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Mojo366

They always have such neat sketches over at Mojo! Today’s card begins with a base of Whisper White Card Stock. A funny little bit of information, I always start my posit with the base but to be honest it’s usually the last thing that I choose! LOL! The background is a piece of Pear Pizzaz that I heat embossed the dots from the Dotty Angles Photopolymer Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Across the middle is a piece of Soft Sky that I embossed with the Delicate Designs Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The two panels are pieces of paper from the All is Calm Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack. One is backed with Whisper White and the other with Smoky Slate. They are both adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My main panel is a piece of Lost Lagoon, I embossed the greeting from the Letterpress Winter Photopolymer Stamp Set in Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder and then used my Versa-Marker to draw the border around the edge. That is heat embossed in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. In the lower right corner, three Basic Jewels Rhinestones finish off the card with a little sparkle! I absolutely love the colors in the All is Calm DSP and I just can’t get enough of the heat embossing can I?! LOL! That’s my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge, I hope that you enjoyed it as much as I enjoy having you stop by! One more day to go my friends and we will be gliding into the weekend! Enjoy your Thursday! 🙂

Paper Craft Crew 113

Is it Wednesday already?! Yeah! I know, I’m wishing the week away but come on, admit it, you are too! LOL! Yesterday was a pretty good day. Daniel was at my parents when I got there, is it possible that he gets cuter every time I see him?! I’ll remember to take some pictures next time, I promise! I came home and made my card for today and Andrew came by and hung out for a while. He worked on his paper for school and I did the blog thing. All in all a pretty good day and an excellent evening! I have some more pictures from Manhattan to share with you today. I however didn’t take these but it’s something that most of us will never get to see. My friend Brian is a fireman, I think I have mentioned that before, and the people in his group went up to the top of the new Freedom Tower and took some pictures. They were up higher than any of us will ever get to go and even though it was an overcast day the pictures are quite cool. The first one is just looking out over manhattan…

WTC Roof 1

The second one is looking down at the reflecting pools…

WTC Roof 2

To think that’s where the two towers used to stand gives me a little chill, I think that the fogginess adds to the picture too.

Now off we go to today’s post. I’m over on the Paper Craft Crew blog for this week’s sketch…

PCCCS113 Sketch 10-08-2014

I used a fun set that I had forgotten that I had! My card begins with a base of Pumpkin Pie Card Stock. For the background I stamped the Dictionary Background Stamp in Memento Tuxedo Black on Crumb Cake. All of the stamped images are from the Bite Me Photopolymer Stamp Set. The panel is a another piece of Pumpkin Pie and I heat embossed the spider web in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and backed it with a piece of Basic Black. The two spiders are heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and cut out with my Paper Snips. I used the 1 1/4″ Circle Punch to punch out the Bite Me and backed it with a piece of Whisper White. Finally, the greeting is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Black and I flagged the right side. I’m really loving the color combination and the stamp set is just so cool! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Stop by the BLOG and show us some love by entering your project in the gallery. Thank you for stopping by to share some more pictures with me and see my card, have a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

SUO Challenges 107

Howdy peeps! My Monday was a typical Monday, I wasn’t in the best of moods and work didn’t help. I was glad to come home and then I realized that I had forgotten my iPad on my desk. I called my friend Danielle and she offered to drop it off on her way home. That was really nice of her since I don’t live on the way home for her. Funny how a little random act of kindness can turn your day around! I had card class last night and that is always a laugh. Love seeing everyone and just having a good time! I have a few more Manhattan pics for you today. The first one is the Lennox Hill Healthplex on 14th Street and 7th Avenue. I just think that its a really neat building!

Lennox Hill Healthplex

The next building is on 16th Street and 6th Avenue, all of the other buildings on the street are much older and this one is just a lot taller and much more modern than the rest of them. It sticks out a lot!

West 16th & 6th

It has a very odd angled front, I wonder how you get blinds for those windows?!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Out in the Woods theme. I immediately thought of the Life in the Forest Stamp Set, a little obvious right?! LOL! The card base for today’s card is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Soft Sky. The greeting is from the Hi There Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I used a piece of Old Olive for the hills and just took my Paper Snips and cut a wavy line though them and used Stampin’ Dimensionals to mount them to the card and each other. All of the images are from the Life in the Forest Stamp Set and are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, cut out with my Paper Snips and colored in with Pumpkin Pie, Smoky Slate and Old Olive Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. I used one or two Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere them to the card and complete my little scene. I really do love coloring in the stamps with the Blendabilities, it gives it such a great look! I hope that you enjoyed my cute little forest scene card for the SUO Challenges Out in the Woods challenge. Head on over to the BLOG and check out what the rest of the design team has come up with and let’s see your take on the theme! Thank you for stopping by and I hope that enjoy your Tuesday! 🙂

Paper Players 216

So, I had a lovely day in Manhattan yesterday! I met my friend Kim for Breakfast, we went to the diner and then I headed over to see my friends Joe and Penny. I had a nice visit with them. After, I called Kim so we could meet downtown, she was finishing up her laundry so I walked down Broadway to 72nd Street to wait to hear from her so I could jump on the Subway. There is a nice park there outside the Subway Station. I sat there with my headphones on listening to Sam Smith and just soaking up the sun and taking in all of the people walking by. I have to say that I haven’t just sat and “been” for a while and it felt wonderful. I need to remember to do that more often, especially once the weather gets warmer again. After Kim text me I jumped on the Subway and headed downtown. I had to pick up something that they were holding for me at The Ink Pad and then we headed over to The Hummus and Pita Company for a late lunch. I got home around 6:30 and remembered that I had some cards to make so I sat down and crafted for a bit before calling it a night. I do have a few pictures for you today. The first one is on Broadway. They have benches in the between the north and south sides of the street so I sat on one of those for a bit.

Broadway & 89th

Next is a picture of the Broadway and 72nd Street Subway entrance. This is where I sat and listened to my music.

Broadway & 72nd Station

You can see from the pictures what a gorgeous day it was, I have to admit that it was very hard to get up from that bench!

Today is Monday so that means that it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge. This time Jaydee has a Halloween theme for us…

Paper Players #216

I have made quite a few Halloween cards this year using stuff from the new catalog so I decided to dust off an oldie but goodie for this one. My card begins with a base of Basic Gray Card Stock. The first layer of my background is a piece of Basic Black. I used the Homemade Holiday Framelits to cut out three houses from the Black. I then stamped the images from the Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set in Versa-Mark Ink on Smoky Slate and heat embossed them with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. They too are cut out with the Homemade Holiday Framelits and put back into the negatives on the Black. Over the top is a piece of Vellum Card Stock. All of my images are from the “Vintage” Fang-tastic Stamp Set and are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored in with my Skin Tones Assortment, Wisteria Wonder, Smoky Slate, Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. I used my Paper Snips to cut them all out and adhered them to the Velum with SNAIL. The greeting is from the And Many More Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Tangerine Tango Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I adhered the Vellum to the card with SNAIL carefully placed behind the images. I love the depth that the Vellum gives the card, almost like fog and makes the houses seem further back and the stamp set is just too cute! I hope you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players Halloween theme from Jaydee. I love having you stop by to see what I have been up to and I hope that you have a marvelous Monday! 🙂

Creation Station Tour – Fall Fest

creation station header

Hello peeps! How is your weekend going so far? Mine is going well! I was in Manhattan most of the day yesterday and despite it being dreary and rainy I had a nice time seeing my friend Isabella! After I took the subway down to the Ink Pad and made a new friend. Michael is another crafty person and I had a nice chat with him. Hopefully I will see him again soon! After I came home I made a card, I had to it was World Card Making Day after all! Did you get to make a card or two yesterday?!

Sometimes Sunday’s mean it’s time for another Creation Station Blog Tour! Today is one of those Sundays! This time around we are doing a Harvest theme focusing on the Fall Fest Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Tiny Treat Boxes. If you are following the tour then you have arrived here from the very talented Jennifer Downey’s Blog. I have three projects for you today, two cards and a little box. Lets get to them shall we?!

My first card uses the night sky technique that I did a little while ago. I really loved the way it looked and had to do it again! The base of the card is Night of Navy Card Stock. I used a piece of Watercolor Paper and the Tim Holtz Mini Ink Blending Tool with some Daffodil Delight first to create the moon. I then took some Post-it Tape and used the 1 1/4″ Punch to punch out a piece to mask over the moon.

Night of Navy and Blackberry Bliss are used to create the rest of the sky. The stars are Perfect Pearls mixed with a little water and dotted on with a paintbrush.

To make my ghost I took my Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Marker and colored around just the edge of the ghost stamp and stamped it on some more Watercolor Paper.

I then used a paintbrush and water to pull the ink into the middle of the ghost.

A quick trip through the Big Shot with the Fun Fall Framelits and some black eyes that are punched out with the 1/8″ Circle Punch and he’s ready to go on the card.

But first I heat embossed one of the greetings from the September Paper Pumpkin Kit in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. A simple mailable card that uses two fun techniques!

Next up is another neat card. The base of this one is Basic Black Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper Pack. The panel is Sahara Sand and I used the Project Life Corner Rounder to round the corners. My partial circle is cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. The greeting is from the For All Things Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. For a little extra detail I used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack to pierce all around the edges before adhering the panel to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The pumpkin and leaves are all from the Fall Fest Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Tangerine Tango, Crushed Curry and Pear Pizzaz. I cut them out with the Fun Fall Framelits and adhered the to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. Another simple card but I love the piercing detail and the circle cut out!

My last project is a box that I made using the Tiny Treat Boxes. They are 25 in a pack for $6.95! How can you go wrong?! To make my box I first separated it at the seam by prying the two pieces apart. I did this so I could cut out the pumpkins using the Fun Fall Framelits from the opposite sides of the box.

I then took some Vellum Card Stock and glued it to the inside of the box before using some Sticky Strip to adhere it back together. The embellishment on the top of the box is a piece of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon that I trimmed the sides off of and pulled some threads out. I adhered it to the box top with some more Sticky Strip. Next up is some of the Tangelo Twist Sequin Trim from the September Paper Pumpkin Kit adhered with some Glue Dots. My pumpkin is from the Fall Fest Set and is cut out with the Fun Fall Framelits. I cut out one of the leaves stamped in Pear Pizzaz and used one of the Autumn Wooden Elements along with some of the black twine from the Paper Pumpkin Kit. A Stampin’ Dimensionals holds it in place.  Again, I have forgotten to pick up some of the tea lights! When I do get some I will take pictures of the place card holder and this box! LOL! I love all of the elements and simplicity of the box!

Little White Merry Christmas

Happy World Card Making Day!! Do you have anything fun planned for today?! I hope that you will be making at least one card to celebrate!! My Friday was a very good one indeed! I got to do my monthly delivery field trip and the rest of the day was manageable as an added bonus! I came home and worked on my card for today and some projects for Sunday. I’m off to Manhattan for a bit this morning to see my friend Isabella. I haven’t see her since the beginning of the summer, lots of catching up to do!

The card that I made for you today is one that popped into my head while my friend Sandy was here for a little visit last night. It’s a simple pretty traditional Christmas card to make up for my very non-traditional one yesterday! 😛

The card base is a piece of Mossy Meadow Card Stock. I think that Mossy Meadow has definitely become my favorite Christmas green! Next up is a piece of Cherry Cobbler. I embossed the “Christmas” from the “Vintage” Joy to the World Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The frame is a piece of Crumb Cake and I used my Stampin’ Trimmer to create it. The merry is cut out with the Little Letters Thinlits across the bottom. My scene is created using the White Christmas Photopolymer Stamp Set. All of the elements are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, I colored in the stars with Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers and did a little shading under the polar bear with Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. I used the Color Lifter to lighten up the shading and adhered the panel to the back of the frame with some Stampin’ Dimensionals. A strip of Crumb Cake under the Christmas completes the card. I love those Little Letters Thinlits, especially the negative of the letters and the White Christmas Set makes it easy and fun to create a little scene! I hope that you like today’s simple Christmas card. I thank you very much for spending a little time with me today! Now go and a make a card and celebrate World Card Making Day!! 🙂
