Wonderful Calypso Espresso

I had a lovely day in Manhattan yesterday despite the rain in the morning. I went in early and met my friend Kim for some diner breakfast and then headed over to see my friend Ella. After Ella’s I went down to Penn Station and met Andrew then I had to stop by and see Jon and Mary for a bit. When we finished there we headed downtown to get some lunch. Andrew is a big fan of hummus so I thought that Hummus and Pita Company would be a good place to go. It was quite tasty as always! Andrew needed to stop by the Apple Store to get his lightning cable replace and who doesn’t like a visit to the Apple Store?! I got a text from Brian saying that he was in the city not too far from us so we went and met up with him for some Starbucks. On the subway ride back up we saw a group perform some acrobatic dance moves in the 34th Street/Herald Square Station. Only in Manhattan people! We stopped at Kim’s for a bit and then headed over to Isabella’s to drop off her Stampin’ Up! order and then it was time to come home. Here are some pictures from yesterday’s travels.

That’s Andrew just down the block from the Apple Store on 14th Street. Notice the lovely banana peel on the floor! LOL!

Brian, Me and Andrew NYC

Does it look like we were having a good day?! That’s Brian on the left in his Fire Department uniform. That was also after the Starbucks!

A fun day in the city indeed! After I got home I sat down to make my card for today and was inspired to use the You’re Wonderful Photopolymer Stamp Set and last week’s Pals Paper Arts colors! Ooops! My card base for today is Early Espresso Card Stock. The main stamp from the You’re Wonderful Photopolymer Stamp Set is heat embossed in Early Espresso Stampin’ Emboss Powder on So Saffron. I heat embossed the banners in Calypso Coral on Early Espresso along with the greetings and adhered them to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The flowers are heat embossed in Calypso Coral on Vellum Card Stock and colored in with Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. I cut them out with my Paper Snips and used a tiny bit of Multi-Purpose Glue to adhere them to the card. I guess I liked the colors so much that they stuck in my head and what would one of my cards be without some heat embossing and vellum lately?! I hope you enjoyed today’s card and the city pics! Thanks for coming by to see what I have been up to and enjoy your Sunday! 🙂

Those flowers are so cute on your card ! I need to paint some Vellum ….I forgot you can do that !
    Happy Sunday !

    1. Thank you Sonny! I love having you come along for my little adventures! You do need to heat emboss and color on some vellum, it’s fun! Happy Sunday to you too! 🙂

    1. Hey Georgie!
Thank you!! I saw your comment and immediately turned on the TV and caught the end of the interview!! I appreciate the heads up!! Thanks!! 🙂

  3. Good Morning Justin!

Looks like you and Andrew really had a blast. I still can’t figure out how you manage to squeeze all you do into a single day. If I counted correctly, you saw 8 different friends in one day. I would be totally exhausted! LOL Sounds like a really fun day if you ask me.

Love the vellum flowers on this card. You really have the embossing on vellum down perfectly. I’m still practicing…………seems I either don’t leave the heat gun on the powder long enough or I make toasted vellum. Hmmmmmmm, maybe I should just stick to card stock when it comes to embossing.

Have yourself a Superb Sunday. Thanks for sharing your adventures, I just love reading about all you do. Do you have tomorrow off? Big Hugs! 🙂

    1. Hi Grace!
Yes, Andrew and I had fun as we always do! It is a mystery to me too, believe me! LOL! I did see 8 different people! I just love my friends! They mean the world to me!
Thanks so much! I love heat embossing and coloring the Vellum! It gives it a really nice look! Practice makes perfect! I used to melt mine a little, but you see how much I do it now and I’m a little better at it!
I had a nice Sunday! Hope that you did too! It makes me so happy that you come along on my adventures! Huge hugs to you!! I have to work, boo! 🙂

  4. Good morning!
I ditto everything Karen said. Your cards are always fabulous. Other than busy, how are you doing? I’m ok, still dealing with the knee injury. Some days are better than others. How’s your knee been, by the way?
I too love tagging along on your adventures. I have never been to New York. Maybe some day.
Well, you enjoy your day, we all know what tomorrow is. Or, do you have off for Columbus Day? Hugs, 🙂 Donna

    1. Hi Donna!
Thank you! I appreciate it! LOL! I’m just busy, all the time it seems! And I just keep adding! I need to stop! I’m sorry to hear that you are still having knee issues. Mine is ok, I can still feel it a bit if I kneel the wrong way, but I’ll live!
I hope that you do get to come to NY, I would love to be able to meet up!
I hope that your Sunday was good, mine was! No, I have to work, bummer! Hugs to you my friend! 🙂

  5. I keep saying I need to do more with vellum. I like the whole card. My favorite are those darling flowers. I must say you do cover a lot of ground in the city. Super photos. My family is super busy with harvest now. Had a chance to ‘pop’ in, glad I did.

    1. Thanks you Lisa! I love vellum, but you know that! I love to walk around the city! We would have done more but Andrew’s legs were bothering him. I’m glad that you popped in as I always am! 🙂

  6. I love NYC but I love Chicago more! two of my kids ran the Chicago Marathon so I spent all day downtown and on the lakefront. Beautiul.

This card is another winner, love veum when it is embossed.

I actually made all four of my Halloween cards yesterday. Geat weekend!

    1. I love the lakefront in Chicago too! I’m glad that you had a nice day!
      Thank you!! Vellum, my fave!
I’m glad to hear that you got your projects done too! 🙂
