Freshly Made Sketches 164

Happy Thanksgiving!! I hope that you will be spending the day with family and friends and enjoying good food and lots of laughter! I’m going to go over to my parents for dinner and I have to take my friend Chantal to the airport. She is off to Paris to meet up with friends and see her family, I’ll admit that I’m a bit jealous! I told her that the next time I give her a ride to the airport I would appreciate a ride on the plane with her! LOL! Yesterday I got out of work a whopping 30 minutes early! I stopped by to see Heather on my way home and then when I got home Andrew was here! I always love a little surprise visit! He left around 6:30 and I went and ate some dinner and then ran to Target with Taylor. We came back and watched a movie and then I made my card for today. I slept in this morning, later than I wanted to but again the bed was so cozy! LOL!

I have a nice simple card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge from Jen B….

Freshly Made Sketches 164

I began today’s card with a base of Whisper White Card Stock and adhered a piece of Kraft Card Stock with some Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine wrapped around it and tied in a bow to cover the entire front of the base. My panel in the middle is another piece of Kraft that I heat embossed with the dots from the Dotty Angles Photopolymer Stamp Set in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and backed it with a piece of Cherry Cobbler. I die cut the noel three times and adhered them to each other with Multi-Purpose glue and pressed them into my Versa-Mark Pad, then I coated them with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it. I repeated the process one more time to give it a little extra shine and adhered it to the card with more Multi-Purpose Glue. I really do love that Kraft Card Stock and the built up noel with the clear embossing gives it a very nice look! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Again, I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for taking some time out of your busy day to visit with me! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Good Morning Justin. I love the brown craft paper for holiday cards and the Noel embossing is really creative.
I am excited to have my son home for Thanksgiving, the first time in 6 years. He has been overseas with the Air Force and is finally stateside ! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends.

    1. Hello Marty!
I too love the Kraft Card Stock and the Noel is just fun!
WOW! That’s so great to have your son home! I’ll bet that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!! Thank you!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Happy Thanksgiving Justin to you and your family and friends. The Hubs and I will spend Thanksgiving alone this year for the first time. He is outside now digging out from about 16″ of heavy wet snow. Because of the horrid weather that started during the morning yesterday and ended while we slept I asked my children not to attempt to travel, especially since they have to work tomorrow. Thankfully they will spend Thanksgiving together with their Dad and some of his extended family. I would have been a basket case had they attempted to make the trip last night. How did you guys make out with this storm?

I love the simplicity of your card. Once in a while we need to step back and remember that sometimes less is more. You have a fabulous day.

    1. Happy Thanksgiving Grace! Sorry that the weather kept your people from you. But it was definitely safer that way. We actually only got rain and a few snow flurries yesterday morning. We got very lucky!
I’m glad that you like the card! Yes, we definitely need simple every once in a while! I had a great day and hope that you did too! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Seems like you are getting used to your comfy, cozy, warm bed! I don’t blame you. I love today’s card. Looks so easy! I bet you have a fantastic family Thanksgiving today. Looks like the whole gang has been around lately — friends and family — nothing better. We are gathering at brother-in-laws today, my house tomorrow. Lots of turkey and stuffing. I made a Splenda pumpkin cheesecake for tomorrow, yum. Enjoy your time off and time with all your people! Nancy B

    1. Yes Nancy! That usually means that I am not the happiest person in the world when I can’t get up. Thank you! The card was pretty easy and we need ones like that! I had sinner with Taylor and my parents and then took my friend to the airport. It was actually a pretty quite day. I hope that you enjoyed your family! How was the splenda pumpkin cheesecake? Sounds yummy and not too bad for you! I had a great day and hope that the same is true for you! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Hello Justin and a very Happy Thanksgiving to you, your family and friends! I know I have a lot to be thankful for this year. I love your card today! Especially your Noel all built up! I am going to have to try that technique. I have recently “discovered” the Kraft paper…I love working with that! Our dinner is a little later than usual this year, around 5:00 or so. So it seems like I’m not so frazzled this morning. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Can’t wait to eat it all!! Enjoy your day…eat lots!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Hi Karen! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your peeps too! I have a lot to be thankful for too! Thank you! The Noel is cool and I love the look of the clear embossing. Love Kraft, like it a lot more than Crumb Cake! I hope that you enjoyed your dinner!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Loved the card today, especially your use of Noel. I haven’t used mine yet because I wasn’t sure what background was good to use–not too busy, not too plain. Happy Thanksgiving. See you at Sandy’s tags and bags gathering next week.

    1. Thank you very much Judy! Hope that the background I used helped! Happy Thanksgiving to you too! YES! See you next week! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Happy Thanksgiving Justin! My kiddos and I drove all day yesterday, fortunately in beautiful weather, so we can have Thanksgiving with my mom, brother and uncle. So glad we were able to! Have a lovely day.

    1. Happy Thanksgiving to you too Jeffie! Sometimes the long drive is really worth it, especially when you get to see family! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Justin – Happy Thanksgiving! That baker’s twine against the kraft card stock is really nice! Cute card. Enjoy your holiday. Blessings – Lisa

  9. Happy Thanksgiving to you, your family and friends Justin. I hope you have a great day. One day I will be in America for Thanksgiving as it’s on my wish list of things to do.
I’m giving thanks for your crafty inspiration!

  10. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day. Love your card and of course the “French” word! Lol. Was happy to see little Daniel is better. Kids heal up quickly and hopefully that will continue to be the case for him. Enjoy the rest of your long weekend.

    1. I had a very nice Thanksgiving Louise! Yes, the Noel is French! Speaking of which I just too my friend Chantal to the airport so she could go to Paris! Daniel is doing better, he gets his stitches out today. I am hoping to get some stuff done around the house today and tomorrow! Wish me luck! ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Wow! This is a really awesome card Justin ๐Ÿ™‚ I like the way you embossed the dotty dots, I wouldn’t have thought to do that and it adds such pizazz to your card. Your creation of the Noel is so, so clever and I can’t wait to try it out. It really looks gorgeous! Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful and restful ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Thank you very much Jill! I love those dots, they work with so much! The Noel is fun, I think we are getting more words in the Spring Catalog! I had a good Thanksgiving, quite, no complaints! I hoe you had a nice one too! ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. I do love me some kraft card stock! I especially love it when it is paired with Christmas colors like Kraft and Cherry Cobbler. The confetti style stamp is a wonderful, whimsical accent to your Christmas sentiment! Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches!

  13. Absolutely stunning Justin! Especially that glossy sentiment! Can you make me up a few and send them down to me? I don’t have the persistence to make them look this good! Thanks for joining us at FMS this week!

    1. Thank you very much Narelle! Of, course, I’d be happy to send a few down to you! LOL! Have a wonderful week! ๐Ÿ™‚
