Paper Craft Crew 120

And today is Friday for me! Yippee! I actually think that my entire department is off on Friday! I’m hoping to have a productive 4 day weekend. I really need to get my house organized and cleaned up! Today was another quiet day at the office and when I got to my parent’s house little Daniel was there with his little boo boo. He is so funny, I don’t think that he even knows its there. He is still running all over the place with abandon! He goes to get his stitches out on Friday and they will see if there is anything else that needs to be done. He is always such a happy boy as you can see from this picture…

Daniel Stitches

He is growing up so fast! He’ll be talking before too long, he tries to now and gets a little annoyed when you don’t know what he’s saying! After dinner I made my card and then Heather and I went to the shoe store, MJM. I needed some new shoes desperately! I got a pair of boots and two pairs of Ben Sherman dress shoes. One pair is blue suede with red laces! Fun!

Michael has another post using that really cool bird stencil! I think this is the most he has posted in a while! Keep on going over to see what he is up to! You can see the card HERE! 🙂

It’s Wednesday and that means that it’s time for another Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

PCCCS120 Sketch 11-26-2014

I saw that vast space in the middle and thought shaker card! LOL! The base for today’s card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock. To make the front shaker portion I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangles to cut out a piece of Cherry Cobbler and Smoky Slate. I also cut out the Window Sheet and the window with them too. The city skyline is from the Calling All Heroes Photopolymer Stamp Set and the sleigh is from the Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set, both are stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. I adhered some of the Frosted Sequins that I used to fill the shaker part to the background so all of the sequins don’t fall to the bottom. My greeting is from the Project Life December Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The flags are punched from some Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper with the Banner Punch and the strip is Basic Black. Some assembly and a few more Frosted Sequins and the card is done. I am still loving that stitched detail from the Lawn Fawn dies, it adds just a little extra! And there you have my Design Team card for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Head on over to the blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has done with the sketch and enter yours in the gallery! I hope that you like my card and that you all have a wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

  1. Good morning Justin. Great card. As usual. I never made a shaker card. I should try my hand at it. On that list of mine…LOL

Thanks for the shout out again!!

    1. Good morning Michael! Thank you very much! I love shaker cards and once you get the hang of them they are easy! I look forward to seeing your one! 😛

Everyone is enjoying your blog!! 🙂

      Have a great day!! XO

  2. Oh my gosh, how good is this card!?!? I love every bit of it! How did you get the outline around the shaker part – did yo use a framelit to cut it out? I used photopolymer stamps for the first time on the weekend, I wasn’t sure how they would be – the result was amazing, so clear and kind of ‘sticky’, I’ll be ordering more of those I’m sure. Have an awesome loooooong weekend Justin 🙂 Cheers, Kelly xx

    1. Thank you very much Kelly! The outline of the shaker just happens from the die. Yes, the photopolymer stamps are really cool! You have an awesome long weekend too! 🙂

  3. OMG! This is over the roof tops! LOL Reminds me of one of the Christmas windows at Macys. Feels like I’m looking through the window in total awe. Like Debbie said, it looks like a rich red leather frame. I know I will be coming back and admiring this many many times. Stunning Justin! Wishing you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving. Don’t eat too much.

    1. LOL! Thanks very much Lisa! It definitely reminds me of Christmas in Manhattan! I’m so happy that you like the card! Happy Thanksgiving to you too! 🙂

  4. Hi Justin, another christmas cityscapes! I really love these cards. This one is no exception and the fact that it is a shaker only adds to its awesomeness. My daughter lives in Manhattan and I will try to CASE this for her….thanks so much for ALL your inspiration. Hope you don’t get too much yucky weather today…who needs it!

    1. Hello Roseanne!
I love that city scene! I’m sure that your daughter will love it! We just had rain, all day, but it’s better than snow! 🙂

  5. Hi Justin, Absolutely gorgeous. It looks like an expensive picture frame, red leather. The stitching die is very exquisite. The city is so you and the snow shaker is great.

Thank you for sharing all you thoughts and techniques.
Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy your family. Daniel’s smile is great.
    🙂

    1. Hello!
Thank you! I do love those Lawn Fawn dies, the stitching is really neat! I guess I love that city scape because of my love of Manhattan! Happy Thanksgiving to you too! Daniel has a wonderful infectious smile! 🙂

  6. Your shaker cards are so imaginative! Santa above the skyline with all the snow and sequins is like looking in to a snow globe. Another great inspiration for a Christmas card.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family Justin.

    1. Thank you very much Marty! I do love to make shaker cards! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family too! Enjoy! 🙂

  7. Great card! I, too, love the effect of the Lawn Fawn dies. They add a little touch of elegance. This may be my favorite shaker card you’ve made!

And as for Daniel, he really is your little clone!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

    1. Yay! Thank you Melanie! The Stitched Rectangles are just great! Yes, he is a little clone, love him so much! Enjoy your day! 🙂

  8. Wow Justin!!! This is an awesome card! It does look like red leather! Just gorgeous. I love everything about it!I know I’m repeating myself but your attention to detail and the scale of this is perfect! So pretty! I think you need to be a designer for SU!! Little Daniel is just a doll! I can see a little bit of you in him. And glad his boo-boo is healing. We are having Thanksgiving here so I’m busy in the kitchen today, but I love cooking on Thanksgiving. Have a wonderful day!

    1. Thanks very much Karen! I would love to be a designer for Stampin’ Up! How much fun would that be?! I love little Daniel, he is just so much fun! Have fun in your kitchen and enjoy your family!! Happy Thanksgiving! 🙂

  9. Oh my, oh my, oh my! I have GOT to learn how to make shaker cards. Justin, I’m not kidding when I tell you that of all the Christmas cards I’ve looked at on all the sites I’ve gone to just to check out Christmas cards, this card is THE MOST GORGEOUS of all I’ve seen. Now I’m feeling I have absolutely got to get the Calling All Heroes set even though the city silhouette is the only stamp I actually want. This is an amazing card. I think I’ll try Splitcoast and see if they have a shaker card video. Also – how hard is it to mail these cards?

I wish you and your entire family including all your friends a wonderful Blessed day tomorrow. I can see that little Daniel will be fine for sure and will be the star of the holiday. You take care and enjoy the day. Hugs from Maine! 🙂

    1. Thanks you Grace! They really are easy once you get the hang of them! I’m really happy that you like the card! I have only used the city scape, but I think it'[s totally worth it! If I was going to mail the card I would use a padded envelope. You don’t want the USPS to ruin all of that hard work!
I wish you and you family and friends a very Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy them!! Hugs from Long Island my friend! XO 🙂

  10. Justin, this is YOUR fault! I am now addicted to shaker cards. 🙂 I actually saw one you made a couple of months ago and had to try it. Everyone at my stamp camp that month just loved it, and even bought those sticky rounds to re-create the card. I didn’t copy your card, but made a floral one instead. However, now I have to try my hand at making one like this. Love how this entire scene is played up with those snowflakes. Reminds me of the Big City (New York, Chicago, where I’m from). I can just see Santa on his sleigh over the Sears Tower! (I know, they changed the name, but I will never change it in my brain). I agree with Grace… they need to make that stamp set with JUST the city scene…that’s also why I didn’t buy it. I won’t ever use the other stamps. (sign) Love your card! As always, you inspire me. Little Daniel is adorable….even with his boo boo. Hope everything is ok. Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy your 4 days off. I have to work Friday. How did that happen??? LOL Hugs!

    1. LOLOL! He he! Thank you Bobbi! That’s not a bad thing and I’m happy to take full responsibility! It is definitely a fun big city scene! I always refer to the Sears Tower as such, I couldn’t even tell you what it’s called now! There are other sets with cool site scenes I have a die from Mama Elephant that I like and its a city scene. I’m consider myself very lucky that I get to inspire you! Daniel is just so much fun! His boo boo adds some character! He will be fine. Happy Thanksgiving to you too! I am very happy to have 4 days off in a row! Yeah, I almost forgot to take off Friday! Hugs to you too! 🙂

  11. WOW! WOW! WOW!
Justin! I don’t like shaker cards….. but I LOVE this. Now I’m thinking I may have to try to make a shaker card. Ugh! Everything about this card is awesome! And how perfect for you that Santa is flying over a city. Fabulous!!! Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thanks very much Gerri! I love shaker cards! What’s not to like?! A little something extra! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! 🙂

  12. OMG! I absoultely love this. I love Shaker Cards anyway but this is fantastic with the snow faling over the city. Love your colrs. Feel free to mail it to me any day now.

Daniel is adorable, My youngest twin split his head open on his first birthday, in the same place as Daniel did. This picture reminds me of that day and his stitiches. LOL 20 years later he has no recollectin and no scar.

Have a restful Thanksgiving, off for cleaning and final cooking prep.

    1. Thank you Linda! LOL! I’ll pop it right into the post!
Oh no! Really?! Poor little guy! I’m glad to hear that he has no scar, I’ll tell Daniel’s mum that!
I slept in this morning and have a lot planned, we’ll see how much I get done! Happy Thanksgiving to you too! 🙂

  13. I think you should’ve gotten some shoes like Daniel’s! (I always notice shoes.) He’s a doll. You know, I realized I had actually stumbled on Michael’s blog before I ever saw him featured on your site. Fun stuff! As for your card today- I LOVE cityscapes. Don’t ask me why. This makes a great shaker card. Are you telling us you are ready for some snow, or just making peace with the inevitable? Happy Thanksgiving. We are all thankful for you in our lives.

    1. LOL! I like Daniel’s shoes! He is a cutie, you should see him walking all over the place! I’m glad that you like Michael’s blog, he’s very talented and I love all of the color that he uses! So happy you like the city shaker! There was a chance of snow yesterday but it missed us! Yay! I figured if I had snow in my card that might be enough and it was! LOL! Happy Thanksgiving to you! And I am very thankful to have all of you in my life! 🙂

  14. Hey Justin,
OMG! WAY TOO CUTE! WOW! That was my first thought! This card is absolutely beautiful! I’m with Bobbi and Grace, I too would only use the city scape. Guess you’ll have to put a buzz in Stampin Ups ear! Ha – Ha.
Daniel is so adorable even with the little boo boo. Love his outfit too! There sure is a throw back in your family, l can see Daniel in your eyes and forehead. Cute little guy.
I started following Michael now. His work is just as awesome!
Enjoy your 4 day weekend, l know l’ll enjoy mine.
We got about 6 inches of snow so far! Did you get any? Please stay safe when your out and about. Have a great evening. 🙂 Hugs, Donna

    1. Hey Donna!
Thanks very much! I will mention something to the at Leadership in Orlando! A lot of people say that Daniel looks like me! I don’t thank that my brother and I look that much alike but I can see a little of me in him. I’m glad that we both get to enjoy a 4 day weekend! We were supposed to get snow yesterday but thankfully it missed us! Happy Thanksgiving! You have a wonderful day! 🙂
