Paper Players 223 & Subway Chickens!

Hello there! How was the weekend? Mine was pretty good, I had a nice time in Manhattan yesterday. The weather was perfect, I did a lot of walking, 9 miles to be exact! I love walking in the city. My friend Kim and I met for breakfast at the diner and then we walked across Central Park. I stopped by to see Joe and Penny for a bit and then met up with Kim at 116th Street and Park Avenue. There is a market there called La Marqueta, they have all kinds of food truck vendors and a garden center. We had some really good bacon wrapped pork bites and rice balls with chicken, for dessert some yummy ice cream. I stopped by Kim & Brian’s for some tacos on the way home and then I came home and crafted for a bit. I had the American Music Awards on and got to see Sam sing I’m Not the Only One. Can’t wait to see him in January! My friend Michael made a really cool card yesterday using a little Stampin’ Up! and some stencils. Love the birds! Go and take a look HERE! Oh, yes, I almost forgot, I have some pictures for you too! I thought that the blog post title would intrigue you! There were a few chickens under the subway tracks! There really isn’t anything that you can’t find in Manhattan! LOL!

The Reservoir, I love the reflection of the buildings and the ducks just hanging out!

Sun

I just thought the shadow of the tree and the sun were really cool!

La Marqueta! 🙂

Subway Chickens

And there are the chickens! They were happy little chickens too!

A fun day in the city! Since it’s Monday that means that it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

Paper Players #223

A sketch from the lovely LeAnne! I had the urge to use some silver, well, a lot of silver! My card base is Basic Black Card Stock. I heat embossed the greeting from the Four You Stamp Set with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder in the lower right corner. I then embossed a pice of Silver Foil Sheet with the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch for the little strip across the top punched from Basic Gray. Another piece of Basic Gray that I flagged on the bottom is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the embossed panel. A Silver Basic Metal Button with some Basic Black Baker’s Twine tied in a bow is adhered to the flag with Glue Dots. I used the Four Feathers Stamp Set heat embossed on Vellum in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder for my element on the panel. They are adhered to each other with SNAIL and to the card with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Three Frosted Sequins adhered with Crystal Effects complete the card. It has been a while since I used the feathers, did you miss them as much as I did?! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players sketch challenge! I love having you stop by and share in my adventures! Thanks so much and have a magnificent Monday! 🙂

I love seeing my peeps and I love walking around the city, especially on such a nice day! Better you than me with the snow!! Stay warm and crafty! 🙂

  3. Good Morning Justin- great pictures and descriptions- chickens under the subway-classic NYC!

    1. Thanks so much Melanie! The city is so much fun and there is always something new to see! Yes, I will enjoy the short week! You enjoy your week too! 🙂

  5. Hi Justin!
Yes, I have missed the feathers. Love them! This card is stunning. Love all the silver embossing – dry and heat. Thanks for sharing.

  6. What a fun day you had – bopping around meeting different friends and eating!!! Such a fun, full life. Great masculine card too! Happy Thanksgiving week!

  7. Today it’s pouring buckets and windy here in Mid Coast Maine. I was going to grocery shop but to heck with it. I did have some errands to run and got those over with.

Love the card. The more I see those feathers the more I think I need to put them on my wish list! I don’t know how you managed to hide the snail and dimensional under the vellum but you did. I have an awful time with that. It looks fabulous!

You just know all your e-peeps (hey I like that) just love seeing the photos of your exploits in the City. I am so jealous that you are close enough to go any weekend you want like I used to. Wish I was closer now that I’m retired because I would have a lot more opportunity to just hop on the train, spend the day and still get back at a reasonable hour. In addition, the round trip for seniors from New Haven to Grand Central is only $26. Yeah.

Have yourself a Marvelous Monday. Hugs!

    1. Ugh! That’s no good Grace! Well, better than snow! I would have skipped the grocery store too!
Thank you! I love my feathers and have missed them! Careful placement is the key to successful hiding of adhesive!
E-Peeps! That’s great! I love taking the pictures to share! I do love living close enough to just pop in! The next time that you are in you definitely need to let me know!!
I hope that you managed to stay dry and that you had a good day! 🙂

  8. Awesome pics. And iy looks like you had beautiful weather, We did reach 50 but damp windy rain all weekend and today, the SNOW. And windy. Its going to be a long winter.
