Starry Tag Christmas

And the four day weekend is almost at an end. I didn’t get most of the stuff I wanted to get done yesterday accomplished. I did get my new door lock installed in the morning and after that I went and met Heather at her new apartment and we went and had lunch. After that we went back to the old apartment so I could put her old lock back on the door and then we ran a few errands. I came home and had some dinner and the spoke to my friend Carolyn from Australia on Skype. I love the fact that I get to see my friends from around the world instead of just hearing them! I made my card for today while we were talking and if you go over to Carolyn’s blog you can see the card that she posted! It’s fun to craft with someone, even if they are miles and miles away!

Speaking of today’s card, I had the urge for a tag but I needed to do something a little different with it, this is what I came up with. The base of today’s card is Pool Party Card stock. For my background I used one of my favorite stamps, the Dictionary Background, stamped in Mossy Meadow on Kraft Card Stock. The tag is a piece of Mossy Meadow and I used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch and the Project Life Corner Rounder to make it. I then used the Confetti Stars Border Punch, once on each side of the tag and backed it with Pool Party to create a nice starry background. The tree is from the Festival of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and punched out with the Tree Punch. I adhered it to the tag with teen tiny pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Holiday Home Photopolymer Stamp Set and is also heat embossed in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. A piece of Pool Party 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon is tied through to the top and the tag is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. It needed something more and Carolyn suggested a few Candy Dots in upper right corner to finish it off. I love the negative punched stars with the Pool Party behind them, a pretty cool effect don’t you think? I hope that you enjoy my card for today, I had a lot of fun making it! Thank you for your visit, I always appreciate it. Enjoy your Sunday! 🙂

  1. Hello Justin. I have been making Christmas tags like crazy lately as I promised a bunch to be made for a friend’s craft fair for next Saturday. Boy I am about tagged out!
All of your card elements work really well together and I love the presentation.
Enjoy the rest of your long weekend.

    1. LOL! I just did this one and realized that one of my design team challenges is tags! Oops! Thank you! It’s a little different! I had a good day and hope that you did too! 🙂

  2. Very pretty card Justin! I really like the way you coordinated the ribbon with the edging and the stars peeking through. Terrific card. I think it’s great that you could Skype and make the card at the same time. One of these days I’m going to get Skype but not until I get a computer that has a microphone! LOL Won’t do me much good to see but not hear eh? 🙂 You have yourself a Special Sunday and enjoy the day. Hey, are you planning on going to Rockefeller Center to see the tree? Hugs, Grace

    1. Thanks so much Grace! I love that Confetti Stars Punch! I had fun with my long distance crafting last night! You could always just get an iPad Grace! I would agree that you need a camera and mic, no, it wouldn’t be any good to not hear! I am going to go into the city and see the tree and go to the shops at Bryant Park, they are a lot of fun! Are you coming in anytime soon? Hugs! 🙂

      1. It will be at least May before I head to Manhattan, if then. Depends on what my girls have planned for me for Mother’s Day. Not to worry Justin, when I come to Manhattan I will certainly let you know. Hugs.

  3. I am a tag girl! I love tags. This is really awesome. I am especially impressed with how nice your ribbon folds over the top of the tag, its so smooith, I pull too hard, mine gets bunched or I rip the top of the tag. I need to learn patience.

    1. LOL! I think that I am going to have turn back on the name thing, I have been getting way too much spam! I’m glad that you enjoyed the card Linda! You have to flip the one side of the ribbon when you go to tie it, I just discovered that last night! LOL! I’m not a fan of bows at all, you should see how long it takes me to tie one! LOL! 🙂

  4. I am such a tag girl, I love tags on anything or just plain. I really am impressed with how nice your ribbon lies on this tag. I usually pull to hard and mine gets bunched or I rip the tag. Patience I know. Awesome creation

    1. Thanks so much! I love a tag too! I realized that if you flip one side of the ribbon it works much better! 🙂

  5. Hello Justin! Beautiful card today…you are an enabler! I’ve got to get that dictionary stamp…love it! I think your color combo is great as well! I think that star punch is fast becoming another of my favorites. Love how you put the pool party behind it! Sounds like you had a fun day yesterday…good for you. Enjoy the rest of your nice long weekend. 😉

    1. Hi Karen!
Thanks very much! Ha! I have heard that before I think! I love that Dictionary Stamp! I really like the Pool Party with the Mossy Meadow too! I did have a fun day, and I hope that you enjoyed your weekend! 🙂

  6. Hello Justin, I’m very happy with your finished product. Don’t the Candy dots finish it off nicely, it wouldn’t be the same without them. I’m claiming designing credit with you….lol.

    1. Hi Carolyn!
Thank you! I had so much crafting and chatting last night! You were right about the Candy Dots! You can definitely take the credit! 🙂

  7. Hey Justin, another great card AND perfectly matched accessories again! You must shop for home decor according to stampin up colours, lol! Those little stars are pretty cute too. Do you hold stampin up demos in people’s homes Justin? My friend signed up as a demonstrator and I went to her party determined not to get “sucked in” but I was hooked from the first 5 minutes! That was about 5 years ago, and I’m still addicted 😉 Cheers, Kelly

    1. Hey Kelly!
Thank you! Ha ha! I did paint my living room and bedroom according to Stampin’ Up! colors! LOL! I haven’t had a workshop in a while but I going to have one in January. I have no time! The products are great! I do love them and have fun making stuff with them! I have been doing it for just over three! Have a nice evening! 🙂

  8. I really like the way you used the Mossy Meadow to ink the dictionary stamp and put it on the kraft paper. That was the first thing that caught my eye, it made it look old, so cool! Also, backing it with the pool party was like a breath of fresh air, sounds silly, but it was unexpected and oh so awesome results 😉 Your tag rocks too, the stars punch idea, it came out perfect! Don’t get me started on candy dots, I LOVE them….

I’ll have to try the skype crafting conference one day. I have a tendency to get really focused and lose track of what I’m saying though. Lol, that could make for a very silly conversation 🙂

    1. Thank you Jill! Yes! I like the Mossy Meadow on the Kraft! It does give it a bit of a vintage feel! I think that Pool Party and Mossy Meadow compliment each other nicely and I’m glad that you agree! I don’t use the Candy Dots, that was Carolyn’s idea! LOL!
I think that a silly conversation while crafting is part of the fun! 🙂

  9. Hi Justin! Bet you are tired from an early morning! Love the colors, Pool Party and Mossy Meadow together on the tag!! The stars look great poking through the green. After seeing so many of your wonderful cards with the dictionary background I ordered the stamp! I guess every teacher should have this even though I teach math!! Glad to hear you were able to get some of your organizing done over the long weekend. There are always more things planned than time to get them done!! Such is life!

  10. Hi Justin! Bet you are tired after your early morning! Love the colors on the tag! The Pool Party pops out from the dark Mossy Meadow! Love blues and greens together! After seeing so many of your wonderful cards with the Dictionary background stamp I ordered one. I guess every teacher should have the “dictionary” even though I teach math! Glad to hear that you were able to get some cleaning and organizing done over the long weekend. One always plans more to do than the time allows! Such is life!

    1. Hello Beth!
I am very tired, 4:30 am is too early, even for me! Thank you! I do love that Dictionary Stamp! Every teacher definitely should have a dictionary stamp! I didn’t get anywhere near as much done as I wanted to but i had a fun weekend and sometime I needed that! 🙂
