Traveler Miss You

Yesterday I had planned to be productive but that didn’t happen. I was sad yesterday for some reason, I spent most of the morning laying on the couch, that’s something I never do. My friend Kim called me and asked me what I was doing and told me that she could come and get me or I could shower and then go over to her. I opted to shower first! I spent the afternoon with Kim and Brian and then came home to make my card for today. Andrew called and said he was outside and had a few errands to run and would I like to go with him so I did. We ended up going back to Kim & Brian’s for dinner. Izzy took a liking to Andrew and used him as a jungle gym for a little while!

Andrew and Izzy

I say it all the time, I’m so lucky to have my friends. They are the most incredible people that you could ever hope to know. I needed to be around my peeps and like always they were there! Today is little Daniel’s 1st birthday party. Andrew has been informed by my sister-in-law Erika that he is singing! I’ll be sure and take pictures so you can join the party too!

The card that I have for you today is a relatively simple one, but the embossing paste gives it a little oomph! The card base is Cajun Craze Card Stock. For my background I took a piece of Night of Navy and a Tim Holtz Stencil called Gothic. I used some Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste and my palette knife to spend the embossing paste over the stencil and carefully peeled it off. I keep a shallow pan of water nearby to dunk the stencil into, the embossing paste dries pretty quickly and sticks to the stencil if you don’t keep it wet. After the embossing paste dried I Adhered a piece of 7/8″ Cotton Ribbon around the back of the panel and adhered it to the base with SNAIL. The suitcase image is from the Traveler Stamp Set and is stamped in Cajun Craze and cut out with my Paper Snips. For the greeting I used the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set, stamped the image in Cajun Craze and cut it out with the Labels Collection Framelits. Before I took it off of the Magnetic Platform I ran my Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Markers around the inside to give it a border. Finally a little Champagne Glimmer Paper heart punched out with the Owl Builder Punch goes over the o in “you”. All of the elements are adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The stencil reminds me of our Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder but I love the texture from the Embossing Paste even more, it has a great look and feel to it. I’m off to catch up on comments and try to get out of my funk. I hope that you enjoyed today’s card. I really appreciate you coming by to see me and I hope that you all have a really good Saturday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Sometimes you need to allow yourself to be sad or in a “funk” for a wee bit, as long as it doesn’t last too long.
Lovely card, Justin, and I love the tip of how to make the border on your sentiment.
You DO inspire me everyday! Thank you!

    1. Yes Karen, I agree. I hope that it doesn’t last very long. I’m glad you enjoyed the card! I’m so glad that I get to inspire you! And know that your comments inspire me too! Have a great Saturday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Hello Justin
The fact that you could write about being sad is a good thing. I think it is wonderful that you have friends and family around who care about you.
Your card is gorgeous and although I can’t touch it I can “feel” the wonderful texture. Perhaps you are missing a friend who may have left recently?
Thanks for your inspiration and feel better.

    1. Hi Marty!
I think sometimes I share a little to much. But I like to keep it as real as I can. I am lucky to have my friends.
Thank you! I love the texture that embossing paste gives. I am definitely missing a friend that left recently. More than I thought I would. I appreciate your thoughts, I hope this passes but I don’t think it will. I hope that you had a good day. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. You need to step back from “life” every once in a while to regroup, reflect on what is important and thankful for others in our lives. And you are truly lucky to have a caring circle of friends (and blog followers!)! I am amazed with all you do: work, making at least one new card a day, continuing to post daily and “running errands” with friends!

As for the card, the embossing paste is striking on the blue! I have used your tip on tracing the inside of the framelit for a border many times!

Hope you all have a great time at Daniel’s birthday!

    1. Yes Beth, you are right. I am so grateful for the friends I have, especially here on the blog. You really are a very important part of my life and I hope that you know that. I need to keep busy to keep my mind distracted. I need to keep in touch with all of you too.
I love the embossing paste and the colors are just different and neat. I’m so glad that you use my tip! Daniel’s birthday was fun! I hope that you had a good day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Hi Justin, “Momma told me there’d be days like this” is what came to my mind when I started reading your post. And, sometimes we just need to give into them a bit. After seeing your card I’m wondering if you were missing your grandmother. You do have a lovely group of friends and family, and even more friends out here in online land! Enjoy your weekend and take good care. Stampin’ hugs, Wendie

    1. Hey Wendy!
Yes, she certainly did! I can’t hide the way I feel, I need to feel it. I’m missing a friend. I do miss my grandmother too. My friends, all of you on the blog included, are awesome! Hugs to you too! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. AHA Justin! After hours of contemplating your sadness I have arrived at an undeniable conclusion – you are sad because you do not have time to come to Maine right now! Whoa la! Now, when you recover from your hysterical laughing at my conclusion, you will feel much better. My cure for “the blues” is to find something to laugh about. Sometimes it’s not so easy to do, especially in the middle of a wicked nasty wintah when I haven’t been able to get out of the house for days. However, I find that if I grab an especially funny CD like Despicable Me or It’s Complicated, I do feel better. So get on ovah to Amtrak to Boston and then the Downeaster to Freeport and I’ll pick you up and we can laugh together.

Oops, love the card and can’t wait to see photos from Daniel’s birthday!

    1. LOL! Yes Grace! You always do make me smile! I have been laughing but as soon as the moment passes I’m sad again. It’s cold here and the early darkness doesn’t help. I did watch a movie last night and I 93 minutes of distraction. That did help. So glad that you like the card and Daniel’s birthday was great! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Just gorgeous, that paste really does make cards stand out. Sometimes we just need that down time, I call it just vegging. As long as you can snap out of it on your own or with friends help I think its healthy, at least healthy to have down or veggie time.

Have fun today, photos for scrapboking a necessity.

    1. Thanks so much Linda! Love the embossing paste. I don’t know when I will feel better, but I need to accept the way I feel and take it day by day. The party was great and I did take some pictures. ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. You are awesome! And, this card is awesome. The color combo is most striking. I want to try using the embossing paste with a stencil and your tips are really helpful. You have great friends and thanks for sharing your adventures and pictures. Have a good day.

    1. Thank you so much Brenda! You are very sweet! I love the embossing paste, once you get the hang of it you’ll use it a lot! I have the best friends and I’m happy to share my days with you! Hope you had a nice Saturday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Dear Justin, You are so “up” all the time and on the go that some down time is what you might have needed. (I hope you are not coming down with anything!) I am so glad you have the kind of friends and relatives that can help you out of a funk. You inspire us your followers! Just read all our comments again and again! Thank you for sharing!
As for your card today, it’s another beauty. Thank you for the tip on how to put a border on a die cut out before removing it from the magnetic pad. I can’t wait to try it.
I hope your weekend is terrific, filled with love and maybe some normal things like the rest of us mortals!
    Love,
    Nancy B

    1. Nancy,
Yes, I try to be “up” but sometimes things happen and I can’t ignore them. My friends are great but so are all of you! I’m a very lucky guy!
I’m glad that you like the card. The border is fun and easy, like tracing. I had a nice day yesterday and hope that you did too!
      Thanks again!
      Love to you! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Hi Justin, I really like everything about this card, from the color combo, the DSP, the sentiment, the stamp sets…just EVERYTHING! Perhaps your mood had something to do with Michael leaving. I know the feeling. I always feel that way when good friends and family are visiting and then leave. I also felt that way each time one of my daughters would head back to college after a break. I think it just means that it was a wonderful visit and hope for another soon. I am sure Daniel’s birthday will be a blast…you only turn 1 once! Take care.

    1. Hello Roseanne,
Thank you! I had a good time putting it together, it made me happy. Yes, you are right, it does have to do with Michael. You are very clever. I know that life goes on, but sometime when you miss someone, it seems to stop. Daniel’s party was fun. You take care too! ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Oh so many comments already. I do hope you feel better.
Your card is fabulous. I love the navy and white contrast. I have so many friends that I miss and would love this card. I just received my Cajun Craze ink pad yesterday. I just “found” it this month and love it. I think it is very rich and goes so good with the Night of Navy. I hope to remember to use the markers to line the inside of the dies. Happy 1st Birthday to Daniel! Hope you enjoy your day with your family.
    ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Yes Nancy! I’m very lucky in the people that I have in my life.
Thanks! The card was pretty easy and the embossing paste gives it a little oomph! The tracing inside the Framelit gives a nice extra! I did have a nice day and hope that you did too. ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. I’m sorry you are feeling blue, Justin. But it is wonderful to be surrounded by people who love you and know exactly what to do to lift you up! Perhaps you are missing someone or something, or maybe it’s just the change of season… either way, just know that YOU bring so much joy to so many people — me included. Praying for you for comfort, peace and for joy to replace the sadness. Love and hugs to you Justin!

    1. Thank you Jeanie. Sometimes you just feel blue and hope that it will pass. I am very lucky to have the people that I have in my life. I am missing someone, nothing that can be done about it. I am so glad that you come along with me on my journey through life, never forget how important you all are to me. Hugs to you! ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Sometimes pain is sweet. Do u think its bcuz yr friend had to go back? U will see him again. Meanwhile it’s very important to all yr fans in blog land that u r happy. Every day is wonderful. That’s why it’s called The Present. It’s all gonna b fine. Your card featuring the Cajun Craze suitcase is outstanding. Great colors.

    1. Yes Georgie, I am missing my friend. I hope to see him soon, but only time will tell. I hope that I can get out of this mood, but for now I’m just dealing with it. I really appreciate your thoughts. I’m glad that you enjoyed the card and hope that you had a good day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Hi Justin – Happy Week-end!!! Sorry you have been in a funk. Hopefully by the time you read all the wonderful comments you’ll be de-funked. LOL. I’m so glad that all your wonderful friends were there for you to keep busy. Happy First Birthday Birthday Daniel. I hope someone got some good pictures! ๐Ÿ™‚

I love the texture on your card. Nice job! It’s nice that you kept the rest of the card simple so that the texture could be appreciated. It complimented the stamped images.

Wishing you well and more creative moments!

    Hugs,

    Lisa

    1. Hello Lisa!
I’m feeling a bit better, but it’s not going to go away any time soon. My friends are great and there will be pictures up in a few minutes.
Thanks! The embossing paste is great! I hoe that you had a nice day and thank you so much for you words! Hugs to you too! ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Hugs from cold Colorado! Love the framelit tip, can’t wait to try it. Stayed in today and played with my Christmas cards, thinking of all the friends and family far away I will be sending them to. Keep smiling. ยฆ)
