Blackberry Birch Butterfly Hello

Well, I ended up going to the mall with Heather yesterday morning. However, it was not the quick trip that I was promised. We ended up being out for about six hours, and after that I went over to her place and reformatted the hard drive in her computer. I came home, made my card, Andrew came by with pizza for dinner and we watched my all time favorite holiday movie, Love Actually. Andrew hadn’t seen the movie before and enjoyed it. So, yes, you guessed it, my Christmas cards are still not done. There’s always tonight! LOL!

Today, I have a card for you that uses a bunch of new stuff from the upcoming 2015 Occasions Catalog that you can order from starting on January 6th…

Today’s card begins with a base of Whisper White Card Stock, I covered the entire front with a piece of Blackberry Bliss. On top of that is a piece of Brushed Silver Card Stock that is cut out with a stitched rectangle from Simon Says Stamp. The main panel of the card is a piece of Smoky Slate, I used the stitched rectangles and stitched circles from Simon. Behind the circle is a piece of paper from the new Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack. The Smoky Slate panel is adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The new Butterfly Thinlits cut out a piece of Blackberry Bliss. The butterfly’s wings are bent and it’s adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Some Dazzling Details goes down the length of the body for a little definition. My “hello” is also cut out from Blackberry Bliss using the Hello You Thinlits Dies and is adhered to the card using 2-Way Glue. I finished it off with some Moonshine Sequins, also from Simon Says Stamp, adhered with Crystal Effects. I’m really loving the Adventure Bound DSP Stack, but I think I’ve said that before. I would actually like a whole stack of just the birch! I hope you enjoyed my card for today as much as I enjoyed making it. I love a simple card with a lot of impact. I’m a happy boy this week because it’s a short one, only three days! I hope that your week is short and good, too. Thanks for stopping by, and a have a magnificent Monday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Hey Justin, this card is awesome! I really gotta have that designer paper, each different one you have used is great – and love those stitched frames! Sounds like you had a very full day – we got our friends moved in today, big job! I might have to dig out my favourite Christmas movie – Die Hard 1 – the original and the best!! 3 sleeps to go! Cheers, Kelly ๐Ÿ˜‰ xx

    1. Hello Kelly!
Thank you! I love that DSP! I think that it might be my favorite ever!! The stitched frames… well we know how much I like those! That was very nice of you to help your friends move, especially so close to the holidays! I like Die Hard too! But My fave is Love Actually for sure! Enjoy your evening! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Justin,
WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! Wow!, this card is beautiful! The first thing out of my mouth when I saw it was,WOW! Oh my gosh! I love every detail you put in to this card, the color combo, the layout, dsp choice, the BUTTERFLY!!! You amaze me! Really, truly, I always am blown away by your talent. You never fail!
You are a brave man going to the mall for 6 hours! I live within walking distance to fantastic mall, however, I have not and will not step foot into until after Christmas, usually after New Years. I just don’t have the patience for all the people and then not finding what I want…I just can’t do it!
Most of my Christmas gifts are homemade, I have crocheted three blankets and made several mixed media canvas’s. I really am enjoying making these specific gifts, it allows me to tell a story within the canvas that is specific to each person.
I hope you have a wonderful Monday
    Donna

  3. Love this card, Justin, for all the reasons other posters have mentioned. Your creativity is amazing. Have a great day!

  4. Hello Justin!! I LOVE your card for today!! Where do I even start?? The butterfly is sooo pretty—love that birch paper too! The colors are fantastic and I know I’ve said this before but I have to get that stitched rectangles die! I can’t get over how well your berry basket matches the blackberry bliss. How about if I remind you in July to start working on your Christmas cards? LOL! Just kiddin ya. Have a great Monday and so glad it’s a short week for you.

    1. Hi Karen!
Thank you!! The DSP is some of my favorite that Stampin’ Up! has ever come out with! The Stitched Rectangles are really the coolest! I was quite please when I found the Blackberry Bliss berry basket! I think that would be a great idea if you reminded me to start my cards in July! Hope your Monday was good! Only 2 more days to go!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Hi Justin:

As long as you had fun yesterday it doesn’t matter if it’s at a mall, at a friends or at home. Everyone deserves a fun day! I really love this new DSP and can’t wait to get my hands on it. Every piece I’ve seen is spectacular and I have big plans for male cards with it! Your card today is elegant, beautiful and one anyone would love to receive. I broke down and got the rectangle Simon Says dies and now that I’ve seen the circles I want to get my hands on those also. I just think the way you do partial cuts with them is spectacular. I take it you rectangle cut first and then circle cut? Whatever it is you do, I just drool over it.

I do hope you get your Christmas cards done and the tree finally decorated. If you take any longer you will be better off putting the Christmas cards in a box and consider them a good start for next year. I try to discipline myself to make a stack of 15-20 Christmas cards every month. Believe me, it’s tough to get myself to do it in July and August. Some years I’m really good about it. The other years well – not so much. LOL

Have yourself a wonderful week no matter how you decide to spend it.
Hugs from the “north” country. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hello Grace!
Yes, I did have fun, but I always do with my friends! I need to have more fun days, I think that we all do! The DSP is fantastic and yes, it’s great for masculine cards! The Simon Stitched dies are awesome because they have the stitching on both sides of the cut line! I have the rectangles, squares and circles! I do cut the rectangle first and then the negative!
The tree is decorated but the card, I think I am going to send some out late, better late than never right?! I have the cards that I blogged but I like to make new ones, crazy right?! I am definitely going to make my earlier next year. I vow to be on top of things and not leave everything to the last minute!
I am having a good week, I hope that you are too! Big hugs from NY!! XO ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Gorgeous card and I love the berry basket! Lots of layers, love the DSP stack, and the sequins. Next year (coming right up!) I think I will have to start my holiday cards in May! Hello to Taylor, Andrew, Michael, Heather, and Daniel. Merry Christmas! Love, Nancy B (I have 5 cards to make yet…I had to take time to make my list of wanted items from the new Occasions catalog after cooking all day!)

    1. Thank you Nancy! The berry basket was a good find! The DSP is so cool and I can;t get enough of the sequins! LOL! I will tell everyone that you said hello and Merry Christmas! Do you have a big list?! Mine was huge! Enjoy your day my friend! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. WOW! Awesome creation. when I first saw it I thought you paper pierced the entire card, LOL then I reread your post.

I was so good this weekend. I forced myself to do NOTHING but Christmas stuff. tree up. gifts wraped and my two quilting projects done. I did not get my card done for my DT project but vacation starts Tomorrow!!!! Can you tell I’m excited. Working as a nurse administrator in College Health does have an occasional benefit. No work until Jan 6th

    1. Thanks so much Linda! I do love the stitched dies, they give it that pierced look in a lot less time!
I always get pulled in 80 different directions but that’s the way it goes and I wouldn’t have it any other way! You were very productive! I’m jealous that you are off until the 6th!! I have my 2 four day weekends so I’m happy with that! ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Your creativity has been running strong these past few weeks and today’s card is no exception. Just beautiful! Now, if your creativity and Christmas spirit can meet up tonight… ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you Melanie! LOL! I was hoping the two would get together, but alas, I don;t think it’s meant to be! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Justin, Once again, a beautiful card! Love it! That butterfly is on my list for my next order. BTW, my favorite Christmas movie is an old one – Bell, Book & Candle with Kim Novak and Jimmy Stewart. I have the dvd and try to watch it every Christmas Season. Enjoy!

    1. Thank you so much Gerri! The butterfly is neat! I haven’t hear of that movie, I’ll have to look it up. It’s good to have a Christmas movie! ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Hey there Justin,
Wow! This card is amazing! I love it! Everything, absolutely everything! I’ve been reading the blog daily and have to say all your work is truly gorgeous lately, really there’s not a card l don’t like. You’re just too talented. Did you by chance receive your Christmas card? I sure hope so.
How the heck are you? I’m doing well. Still have some problems with the knee, but can’t let it bring me down.
I must say Little Daniel’s Christmas photo is so darn cute. I like how he seems to be looking up, as though maybe he hears the bells on the sleigh and reindeer. Lol. I can’t believe we’re almost at the end of another year. Time really does fly by fast.
Well, gotta go falling asleep as l type this. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hugs, Donna

    1. Hello Donna!
