Freshly Made Sketches 166

TGIF peeps! How do I love Friday… let me count the ways! Yesterday was an average day at work. Still lots going on and not really enough time to get it all done but that’s the way that goes! It snowed here yesterday morning for a bit but then the sun came out and it wasn’t too bad of a day. Michael’s friend Sue stopped by last night to pick up the things that Michael ordered from the clearance rack and we had a nice talk and got caught up. She’s a very sweet person and I think that I can safely call her a friend. Sandy also stopped by so we could discuss recent stamping projects. I always love to get to spend time with her. She is an incredibly nice person and quite talented too! Later onย Andrew stopped by, he was having computer issues and we determined that the hard drive had failed. That’s never a good thing. He is in the middle of finals at school too. I gave him my extra MacBook so that he would at least have something to use. He will call today and see about getting it replaced and if there is a way to get the info off of the old one. Fingers crossed for him please!

Oh, I forgot to post my little picture from Manhattan when I was there on Tuesday night with all of the snow swirling around in the air!

Thankfully none of it settled! ๐Ÿ™‚

The card that I have for you today is forย this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 166

I wanted to play with some more new goodies so I choose my favorite set from the upcoming Sale-A-Bration Catalog! My card base for today is Pear Pizzaz Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper Pack**, also from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog. The funky little bird is from the A Happy Thing Stamp Set** and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black along with the greeting. I used Bermuda Bay*, Pear Pizzaz*, Crumb Cake, Smoky Slate and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers to color him in. A piece of Soft Suede backs it and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. To finish the card, a piece of Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim* is adhered across the bottom of the panel with Crystal Effects. I really love that funky little bird, especially colored in with the bright colors! I hope that you enjoyed my sneak peek packed card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Thanks very much for visiting and have a fantastic Friday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Good Morning Justin. I love this little bird too and he is just begging to be brightly colored! Great card.
Siting here listening to Christmas music – really enjoyed your Manhattan picture with the swirling snow, it does feel Christmasy- as close as it gets out here in the desert southwest!
    Happy Friday!

  2. Good Morning, what a cute birdie! Love the DSP you chose too. Love the bordering colors too. It just looks great. That Manhattan pic sends chills up my spine . . . snow chills.

    1. Hello Nancy!
Thanks! I love that little bird! The snow was not a welcome addition to the picture, trust me! LOL! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Ha! It didn’t stick Michael! It looks pretty when it’s falling, as long as it disappears when it hits the floor I’m ok with it!
Thank you! I really love the bird and the DSP has some cool patterns! And yes! I love sequins! LOL! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Hi Justin! I’m laughing at Michael’s comment because you know how much I love sequins!! This is a great card…when I first saw that bird, I wasn’t too sure about him. He even looked a little scary to me. But you’ve made him look good! I think he’s wondering when Spring will get here. ๐Ÿ˜‰ So guess what was the first thing I pulled out of my box of new things? Yep…that butterfly framelit. Gosh, it’s sooo pretty. Love your Manhattan picture, even with the snow flying around! Have an awesome Friday!

    1. Hey Karen! Yes, he knows of my love of sequins too! LOL! Thank you! I love that bird, I loved him right away! I think that you are correct, I am wondering the same thing! Love that butterfly too! Manhattan is fun no matter the weather! I hope that you had a nice Friday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Good luck ,Andrew ! Hope for the best (fingers crossed )
Now on to that picture …brrr. Apparently everyone else thought so too because it is deserted there !!
Your little bird card is too cute ! I was wondering how I would use that new sequin strip and the color is so pretty . Thank you for the idea !!
    Happy Friday , Justin !!

    1. Thanks Sonny! I am feeling very bad for Andrew. We’ll get it straightened out! ThankS, love the bird. It was cold but I don’t mind the snow in the city. Love the sequins too! Happy Friday to you too! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Love that background paper Justin. How neat that the soft yellow blends with the bright Bermuda Bay sequins. I am anxious to see all the new sets that will be available for Sale-A-Bration. I’m jealous that you demo’s get to see it all first although that IS the way it should be. LOL

You sure do have a busy apartment with everyone stopping by. How wonderful! Hopefully you appreciate it as here people always call before coming to be sure we are home. It’s too far to drive to get to an empty house. When I lived in CT people stopped by all the time. I miss that.

We had snow overnight but probably less than 2″. Just enough to screw up the driveway yet again. When I hit the lottery I’m going to have heat pipes put under the driveway so the hubs doesn’t have to spend half of every day trying to keep it clear.

I have had hard drives fail and I know how devastating that can be. Luckily my daughter works with computer engineers who were kind enough to recover almost everything on their own time after work. Thank goodness. But for poor Andrew, right in the middle of finals, this can affect his ability to prepare. I’m feeling so sorry for him.

Have a Fabulous Friday my friend and a terrific weekend as well. Hugs. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you Grace! It’s a nice subtle pattern on the paper, busy but not overwhelming! I love everything in both the new catalogs. You are going to love them too!
LOL! Yes, Thursday night was quite a busy night. But it was filled with friends and that’s just how I like it! Andrew is the only one allowed to just pop in, everyone else calls!
A friend of mine has a heated driveway and loves it! If I win lotto first I’ll get them put in for you!
I can usually get the stuff off of the hard drive but this time it’s just dead. I’ll give it another go today, fingers crossed! We have to put a better backup plan in place for Andrew!
I had a good Friday and am looking forward to a productive weekend! Fingers crossed! You have a great weekend too my friend! ๐Ÿ™‚
      Hugs!

  6. Lots of frost here & 29 degrees now. I can’t wait to see more sequins, birds, and butterflies! Good luck on exams, Andrew! Have a great weekend, everyone! Nancy B

  10. Hey Justin, LOVE the Manhattan pic, just beautiful! I can’t imagine it being cold, New York was sooo hot when we were there! Another awesome card! It really must be a sneak peak-fest, I hardly recognise anything on it at all, can’t wait for that new catalogue ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy Saturday xxx

    1. Hi Kelly!
Thanks, I thought that the street looked nice with the snow falling in front of the street lamp. I wish it wasn’t cold but it can get really cold here! Yes, it is a sneak peek fest, love this time of year! Have a wonderful day my friend! ๐Ÿ™‚
