Pals Paper Arts 230

Yesterday was a rainy day, and yes, I stayed in bed way too late! I did go over to Heather’s for a late breakfast that was quite yummy! Scrambled eggs, bacon and an english muffin. We ran to Target to pick up some necessities and I found two new props for my pictures! After I came home and hid in the Stampin’ Galley for most of the rest of the day. It was a good day to craft. I squeezed in some TV, I watched the Grammy Christmas special from the other day. Sam sang Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, you can buy the song on iTunes, I of course think it’s the best version of the song I have ever heard! LOL! I may be a bit partial though! Go and give a listen and let me know what you think! This morning another late morning, I guess that we do need them every once in a while, but I should be good now! πŸ™‚

One of the cards that I made yesterday is for this week’ Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 230

I wanted a simple Christmas card but not overly Christmas. The base of the card is Cherry Cobbler Card Stock and the background is a piece of Very Vanilla that I embossed with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. To create my tag I punched a piece of Vellum Card Stock with the Scallop Tag Topper punch and used the Project Life Corner Rounder on the bottom corners. My feathers are from the Four Feathers Stamp Set and are heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Baked Brown Sugar and cut out with the Feathers Framelits. I adhered them to the tagΒ with SNAIL. The greeting is form the Endless Wished Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I threaded some Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine through a Gold Basic Metal Button and adhered it on top of the bottom of the feathers with Glue Dots. Some more baker’s twine is threaded through the top of the tag and the tag is then adhered to the card with SNAIL. I used some Crystal Effects to adhere the baker’s twine to the background. It has the Christmas feel without any traditional elements. I hope that you like my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge. Thank you for taking a little time to stop by and visit with me! You make my days brighter! Have a super Sunday everyone! πŸ™‚

I’m jealous that you are done with your Christmas cards!! I have to start mine! Thank you so much! I do have a lot of fun making the cards! I hope that you too have a good week! Hugs to you too! πŸ™‚

  3. Late mornings are good at least once in a while. This is a beautiful card. When I saw the colors for this challenge, I thought they would be a big challenge for me. I like bright colors, but I love the way your have combined them with the feathers in the baked brown sugar and the button with twine. Very nice card. Have a wonderful day.

    1. I don’t know about that HJ! I always feel like I have wasted the day when I get up after 6:00! Thank you so much! I am a much more neutral person when it comes to colors. So glad that you enjoyed the card! I hope that you had a nice Sunday! πŸ™‚

  4. wow, another great creation. you are on a tag roll/ Love the addition of feathers to a Christmas card, Gorgeous card.
I love late start days when I can just craft all day. Foesn’t happen often but they are great.

Well off to see my daughter compete on the ice then a long drive back home to illinois, OK Michigan is not that far, but 4 hours in a car after this week is long. On a good note I am catching up on Candy Crush and Words with Friends. LOL Have a great day

    1. LOL! Thank you Linda! I do love a tag! So glad that the feathers “worked”! I am much happier when I can get up early and get a lot done but I did enjoy the rainy day in the craft room I won’t lie! Hope that your daughter did well and that you had a nice safe uneventful drive! πŸ™‚

  5. Beautiful feathers for Christmas, Justin. Very innovative. I love how the colors look together in the ways you used them. Thanks for playing at PPA! Come back soon!

  6. What a lovely, non-traditional, Justin feather card! (Did I get enough adjectives in?) The colors and the button together are so harmonious. When I saw the colors I thought of the Santa from last year’s Santa list, but you pulled off another original. I really like how the mirrored reflection in your candle (?) jar shows the spool of thread and the table. Very artistic with a holiday feel. I have to start pulling out my boxes of holiday decorations this week in addition to organizing clothing. Busy week! I have to make a couple of Hanukkah cards. Good thing there are 8 days to get them done and in the mail! Have a great day — the sun is finally out! Nancy B

    1. Thank you Nancy! Yes, you did! It’s funny, I immediately thought of the feathers! LOL! I love the little props, they do make the pictures a little more interesting! I have to find my decorations, the tree is up at least! Christmas cards are next on my list! Hope your day was good! πŸ™‚

  7. First of all Justin let me clarify something for you – there is no such thing as “overly Christmas”. LOL Now that we have that out of the way I would never thing to use feathers in a Christmas card but this is just beautiful. The Northern Flurry EF is just the absolute perfect EF to back the tag with the gorgeous feathers. Fab card – no bout a doubt it!

So glad to hear you are getting a bit of rest and relaxation. That really is important for your health. Another ice covered day here in Maine. I’m wondering if I will ever be able to get out of my driveway again without falling on my butt. Hmmmm, maybe we should just get some new ice skates. Another storm scheduled for Wednesday into Thursday. I think I’ll go make some cookies – a good way to get my mind off this yukky weather. You have yourself a Super Sunday my friend.

    1. LOL! Yes Grace, I know! I do like when you can say Christmas without a tree or ornament though! Happy that you liked the not too Christmas card though!
Yeah, I feel like I got a bit too much rest! I don’t like to be non-productive! Sorry that you are having so much bad weather up there. Be careful! Mmm… cookies! That sounds like a great idea! I had a good Sunday and hope that you did too! πŸ™‚

  8. Very lovely. Love the embossed feathers on vellum. And you are right even without a XMas tree or wreath, it has a definite Holiday feel to it. Love your new prop too. Trying a few of my own! Have a great Sunday Justin and thanks for the tip… Will try it!

    1. Thank you Louise! So glad that Holiday feeling was still conveyed! The props are fun! I hope that your Sunday was good, mine was! πŸ™‚

  9. Justin, this card is really awesome! I love the feathers stamp set and framelits and you have showcased them so well in this card. I also think that the Northern Flurry EF is perfect for that layer! Love it, all the way around! Glad you got some rest too! Just being in the colder weather in Chicago used to wear me out! Traipsing through all the snow, ice and trying to drive without hitting black ice! Geez! And let’s not forget the times you get back to the train station, after a day at work downtown, only to not be able to find your car because it’s been snowing all day. Then locking yourself out of the car, because you had to scrape the snow off. Boy, those were the days. I was definitely more exhausted in the winter! LOL Get some rest my friend! Winter’s coming! πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks very much Bobbi! The feathers are one of my faves as you know! I love the Northern Flurry EF but I hope that we get a new one with smaller snowflakes! I don’t look forward to the snow and freezing temps again. It’s not been too bad here. I think that I am all rested up!! πŸ™‚

  10. Hi Justin! Great card today! Love those feathers. You did a great job on this being not over-the-top Christmas. But gorgeous just the same! Is that one of your new props? Love it. I keep forgetting when I’m at Michael’s to pick up some of those wooden spools and put my baker’s twine on them. Your breakfast sounds good…we just finished up with bacon and eggs also. Now the whole house smells like bacon. πŸ˜‰ Have a great Sunday!

    1. Hello Karen!
Thank you! Yes, the votive is one of the new props. I got a gold one and a silver one! I was in Michaels briefly yesterday, the line was way too long so I left! Mmm… bacon!! I had a good day and hope the same is true for you! πŸ™‚

  11. Just me again Justin…forgot to tell you that I did listen to Sam’s rendition of that song…I love his voice!

  12. Hey Justin, this card is gorgeous! Love the colours, very classy! Those feathers are definitely next on my list… Well, I blinked and it’s Monday morning already πŸ™ why does the weekend always fly by so quickly? *sigh* Looking forward to a bit of time off over Christmas, do you get any holidays from work for Christmas? Have a great evening, Justin! Cheers, Kelly xx

    1. Hey Kelly!
Thank you! Love the feathers! Can’t believe that you don’t have them yet! LOL! Yeah, Monday, blah! Weekend always go fast, because we are enjoying them! I think that I will take off the day after Christmas! Have a good day! πŸ™‚
