Paper Craft Crew 123

A little over a week until Christmas and I don’t even have my cards made! I just can’t get into the groove lately! I did come home after work last night and make some cards, just not Holiday ones! My tree still has but five ornaments on it and I haven’t even thought about shopping yet! I really need to get it together! My mind is filled with all sorts of things, just not Holiday things. Maybe I’ll have a rally this weekend… then again maybe not! LOL! How are your Holiday preparations coming? I hope that you are further along than I am!

We are halfway through the week and that means that it’s Wednesday and time for this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge…

PCCCS123 Sketch 12-17-2014

I have really been into blues lately and purple for some reason too. Today’s card starts off with a base of Bermuda Bay Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. For my panel in the middle I embossed a piece of Pool Party with the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and backed it with a piece of Basic Black. My butterfly is a piece of Watercolor Paper that I cut out with the Butterfly Thinlits*. I used my Mini Ink Blending Tool and some Bermuda Bay and Blackberry Bliss Ink to give it some color and adhered it to the card with Glue Dots. My triangles are Blackberry Bliss and Bermuda Bay and are punched out with the Triangle Punch and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. For the greeting I choose one from the And Many More Stamp Set and heat embossed it in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Basic Black with the right side flagged. The embellishment is made with another piece of the Designer Series Paper and my Epiphany Crafts Shape Studio Round Epoxy Embellishment Maker that my friend Eva sent to me. In our current sea of Holiday cards I love the spring like feel of this one and the bold bright colors! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this weeks Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge. Take a minute to stop by the blog and see what the rest of the Design Team have to inspire you and enter your project in the gallery! I thank you very much for stopping by and I wish you all a Wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

  1. Wow, Justin, this card is so pretty! 😀 I love the butterfly, nothing scary about this one! The colours are beautiful too! You should make a few of these to put on your Christmas tree – that will help your groove, or confuse it, lol! My plans are doing ok, still need a couple of gifts, just heard my Hot Topic order for my son will be delayed, they asked me to pop in tomorrow to find out the delivery date. Popping in from Australia may be difficult… I won’t hold my breath for it to arrive by Christmas -_- First world problems, huh!?!
Thanks for sharing my friend, cheers, Kelly xx

    1. Thanks so much Kelly! Yay, no scary butterflies! I should make a few something to put on the Christmas Tree, I’m not finding my ornaments! Would you like me to pop into Hot Topic for you? There is one not far from me?! Definitely first world problems! LOL! Hope you had a good day! 🙂

  2. Good morning Justin. Lovely card, I love butterflies so it all works for me. I have to find out more about the embellishment maker-that looks fun!
You must work well under pressure! I got most of my cards done and in the mail on Monday. I still have to make two for my grandchildren and some gift cards but I am mostly done.
    Good luck!

    1. Hello Marty!
Thank you! The embellishment maker is fun and I think I have seen it in Michaels! I don’t work well under pressure, I just can’t get into the groove of making them! My family cards I always make a few days before. I’m jealous that you are almost one! 🙂

  3. Love the card. I went to amazon.com and ordered some of the mini blending tools!! HMMM?? Stocking stuffer for me!! LOL!

  4. Hi Justin! Love your card today! Anything with that butterfly framelit is gorgeous, in my book. I love the way you did the watercoloring on it…very cool! Great colors too. I like Kelly’s idea of putting some of those on your tree. You could glue a little clip to the back of the body and just clip it on a branch. Hmmm??? Another project perhaps??

So I’m not the only one having trouble getting into the holiday spirit, huh? We still have a week. :-)Have a great day!

    1. Hello Karen!
Thanks very much! The butterfly is really nice! I needed bright and bold and that’s what I got! LOL! Some butterflies would be nice on the tree. People put birds on trees! No, you are not the only one having trouble, glad I’m not alone too! 🙂

  5. Absolutely gorgeous card Justin. Beautiful contrasting colors that when put together really give this card the “WOW” factor.

I really push myself to get all my Christmas preparation done early. My gifts were in the mail the end of November and the cards in the mail the first week of December. The second week of December I finished decorating the house, putting up the tree and making my Christmas cookies. The hubs put the outside decorations up the end of November when we had a really nice warm day. I do this so that I can sit back and enjoy the Christmas season without any pressure. I don’t wait until Christmas to buy the gifts. I shop all year long when I am out and if I see something a particular person would like I buy it then and put it away. This year I did quite a lot of shopping on line which was wonderful. So, it’s all bought, wrapped, sent and baked. Now I can just concentrate on packing and enjoying.

Hope you get the spirit soon Justin and that you don’t end up stressed out over what is or isn’t done. Merry Christmas.

    1. Thank you very much Grace! I do love my blues and for some reason purples lately!
I will definitely have to try better next year. I am usually done by now. You are very organized! A lot of the people I buy for are difficult so that’s why I usually wait to get gifts. I won’t stress, I have no one to blame but myself! LOL! Merry Christmas to you too! 🙂

  6. WOW! This is another beautiful creation. I love the color combo, and those butterflies are to die for. I can’t wait until my order arrives.

Ready for Christmas, OMG, LOL. This is the first year I am not done, and by this time I love sitting back and enjoying everything. Now I hear a Christmas song and I’m changing radio stations. Need to start nagging family for help I guess

    1. Thank you Linda! The butterflies really are great! I’m so happy to hear that I’m not the only one not finished! LOL! I am definitely not a fan of Christmas music, they play it everywhere and way too early! Here’s to us both getting finished! 🙂

  7. Justin, Love the color combination. The way you colored the butterfly is so elegant! Thanks for sharing another amazing project. You are not the only one who doesn’t have their Christmas cards done. 🙁
