Snowflake Adventure Birthday

I trust that we have all recovered from Christmas! It was a beautiful day here yesterday, not too cold and nice and sunny! It’s a little chillier this morning so I think I will spend a some more time today finishing up my projects. I had a nice day yesterday, I spent some time making thank you cards and then Taylor came by and we ran to Target to pick up a few things. I stopped by Brian & Kim’s for bit and then headed over to see my friend Sam. We haven’t gotten to spend time together in a while and it was so great to see her! We talked and laughed and had some dinner, then we decided to watch a movie. We chose one of our favorites, The Holiday. There are some movies that I can watch over and over again and never get tired of them and this is definitely one of them! I came home around midnight and made my card for today. I even managed to not sleep the day away this morning! LOL! I almost forgot to share this picture of Daniel and I from Christmas day. My brother took it, he really is an excellent photographer!

Daniel & I Christmas 2014

The ornament that Daniel had in his hand didn’t last but about 30 seconds after that picture was taken. He threw it on the floor and it smashed it loads of little tiny pieces! He looks so cute but he can be quite mischievous! LOL!

Now on to my card for today. I want to make an effort to have a stash of thank you and birthday cards on hand so I have them ready to send out. I have a few people that have “winter” birthdays and we always need some masculine ones, right?! Today’s card starts with a base of Smoky Slate Card Stock. The background panel is actually a piece left over from a card that I made a little while ago. It’s cut out with the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangles. My greeting is from the Perfect Pennants Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The flags are pieces of paper from the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack*, they are adhered to each other with SNAIL at the top and then Stampin’ Dimensionals hold them to the card. I punched out 2 arrows with the What’s Up Punch from Basic Gray and Island Indigo and adhered them to the flags with Multi-Purpose Glue. I used the Simon Says Stamp Maryanne Snowflake Die and some Silver Glimmer Paper for the snowflake that’s adhered to the flags. Down in the lower left corner is some Island Indigo that I punched out with the Chevron Border Punch and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A few Frosted Sequins finish off the card and add a little more sparkle. I absolutely love that Adventure Bound DSP Stack*, it has all of the photo pages and then some really great patterns on the other side! I hope that you enjoyed my simple masculine winter birthday card! Thank you very much for stopping by and I wish you all a simple fun Saturday! 🙂

  6. Gorgeous card Justin and I am looking forward to seeing the Adventure Bound DSP and will be getting it. I am also thinking of trying the Blendabilities too along with some of the stamp sets to welcome a new baby as my cousin Victoria is due to have hers in January and I’m going to make a baby book. I’ve never done anything like this but will give it a go!
The photo of Daniel with you is lovely and I can see a family resemblance.
    Take care,
    Michelle xoxo

  7. Great card Justin….but an even greater picture of you and little Daniel!~ You are both so adorable! Your hair DOES match! Was that on purpose? Cute! Anyway, glad you had a wonderful Christmas. My best wishes for a safe, healthy and Happy New Year! 🙂

    1. Thank you Bobbi! I do love that picture! Thanks for saying that we are both adorable, clearly he is way cuter than me! LOL! His mom always does his hair like that! I love it! Here’s to a safe, healthy and happy new year for all of us! 🙂

  8. Hi Justin, what a gorgeous photo of you and Daniel! And a beautiful Christmas tree in the background – I’m glad you had a nice Christmas 🙂 I really like today’s card, very stylish, the colours are so great, and I like the ‘pointy things’ along the bottom, I have that punch, but I never thought to use the bits that fall on the floor, lol!! We are home again now, after a whirlwind 3 day trip to both families and the shops (which were PACKED!) I can’t believe it’s all over so quickly! Cheers Justin, Kelly xx 🙂

    1. Hello Kelly!
Thank you! I do love that picture! I had a lovely Christmas! I have used the bits more than the negative on that punch! Yes, it does go very quickly! I’m happy that you had a nice holiday! Cheers to you too! XOXO 🙂

  9. Daniel knows his Uncle has ‘style’. He wants to be just like you. Both of you are looking good with the hair. A picture to cherish forever. What a great card today. It screams masculine and your color combo…..WOW. I believe I will be casing this one in the future.

    1. Ha ha! Yes, that’s me, stylish Uncle Justin! Definitely one of my favorite pictures! I’m glad that you enjoyed the card! I absolutely love that DSP! 🙂

  10. What a *great* design, Justin! You really have a flair for color coordination and putting together design elements in a visually pleasing way. I’m not usually drawn to plaid; however, the subtle blue and grays really unite the bold blue chevrons and the blue arrow with the gray design elements. The silver glimmer paper snowflake really pops against the backdrop of the Smoky Slate border. *Love* this card!

    1. Thanks very much El! I love the gray and blue together! I don’t usually like plaid, but in small doses it’s great! 🙂

  11. I forgot to mention that both you and Daniel are cuties!

I just watched The Holiday last weekend, I think. I’m a sucker for sappy love stories with happy endings!

    1. Thanks El! I do love that picture! I love a sappy love story! I think that Kate and Jude are great! 🙂

Didn’t get to do to much relaxing, but that’s ok. lt’s be fun. Thank goodness for the extra days off this week. Your picture with Daniel is adorable. Your cards have been fabulous as always. Love today’s as well. Hope to chat with you soon, but in case l don’t, l’m going to wish you a very Happy New Year now. Take care and stay safe. Hugs, Donna 🙂

    1. Hello Donna!
Thank you so much and a happy Christmas to you! The Holidays are always a busy time but failing them with friends and family makes all of the work worth it! Love my little Daniel! So glad that you have enjoyed the cards! I wish you a Happy New year and all things good and fun! Hugs to you too! 🙂
