SUO Challenges 112

My day yesterday was pretty quiet until the evening. I got a lot accomplished at work which is always good. Had some dinner, came home and sat down to make a few cards. Around 8:00 I got a call from Brian asking if could some over and stay at the house with Izzy because Savannah fell down the stairs. Off I went! Thankfully she was ok other than a nice lump on her head. That has to be a little frightening to be that little and go down an entire flight of stairs. Those little ones are tough though aren’t they? I think that maybe I should get her together with Daniel! They both see to be a bit accident prone! Today is also two of favorite people’s birthdays! Happy birthday to Kim, one of the sweetest people that I know and to my friend Brian King, another amazing person! I hope that you both have a wonderful day!

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our Merry & Happy challenge. I decided on some very non-traditional but very happy colors for my card! The base of today’s card is Soft Sky Card Stock and the background is a piece of Blackberry Bliss that I embossed with the On Point Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The two banners are Soft Sky and Lost Lagoon, I used the Banners Framelits to cut them out. I stamped the happy from the Endless Birthday Wishes Photopolymer Stamp Set in Blackberry Bliss. Then the Lost Lagoon banner is tucked behind the Soft Sky one and adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My two tress are cut out with one of the elements from the Snowflake Card Thinlit from Mossy Meadow. I used a Versa-Marker to dot them and heat embossed them with some Pool Party Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The HOLIDAYS is from the Watercolor Winter Too Photopolymer Stamp Set and is stamped in Blackberry Bliss and cut out with my Paper Snips. I adhered the trees and the greeting to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. A simple fun and bright Holiday card! I hope that you enjoyed my card for the Merry & Happy challenge from SUO Challenges. Don’t forget to swing by the blog and see what the rest of the team has done and enter your card in the gallery! I thank you for your visit and hope that you all have a terrific Tuesday! 🙂

  1. Hey Justin, cool card – I like all the layers, and the embossed trees are very cute! I hope the little one is doing ok, it’s a good thing they bounce at that age – and that you were there to help! You are a good friend 🙂 Off to bed, three more work days and I’m on Christmas break, Yay! Cheers Justin xx

    1. Hello Kelly!
Thank you! Savannah is doing just fine. It really is good that they are able to take all of the bumps and bruises when the are little. I have great friends and I’m happy to help out whenever I can! You are luck to have off for Christmas break!! 🙂

  2. Hi Justin! Great card today…I love the color combo you used! The trees look so cute with the dots on them. I forgot about that tree framelit that comes with the snowflake thinlit. Very cute. So glad it wasn’t more serious with Izzy. It’s amazing the bumps and bruises they can take isn’t it? Have a great Tuesday, we are enjoying temps in the 40’s and no snow on the ground to speak of. 🙂

    1. Hello Karen!
Thanks! I love the blues and the purple as you will see from Wednesday’s card! Kids are quite resilient aren’t they?! Enjoy your nice weather!! 🙂

  3. Good Morning, great colors on this card. I love the what dots on the trees the best!!
    🙂

  4. Nice touch with the embossing on the trees combined with the On Point EF background. Very Christmassy (is that even a word LOL?) despite the non traditional color combo. Just a beautiful card which anyone would be delighted to receive.

How old is Savannah? It seems the younger they are the better they bounce! I know it’s not funny but once you know they are all right laughter can be a release from the awful feeling you get in the pit of your stomach as you rush to the ER. I think just about every parent has been through that, some of us too many times! So glad to hear that she is all right and yes, you are a great friend for dropping everything to take care of Izzy while they were gone. We all need friends like you Justin.

Wishing you a fantastic week ahead. Hugs, 🙂

    1. Thank you Grace! Yes, Chritsmassy is a word! LOL! I love anything that is not red and green as you know!
Savannah is 2 and yes they do bounce better when they are little! Thankfully she is fine, just a little bump. I am always happy to help out my friends, they are always there for me! I hoe that you are enjoying your week! 🙂

  5. Oh how I love trees! Great card! Isn’t is great to have the Embossing Folder that looks like trees, a tree punch, and the tree from the framelit? I can see me doing this in Real Red or Cherry Cobbler with Garden Green and white. Thanks again for the inspiration.
I’m glad the little ones are all right! Isn’t there a way to wrap them in bubble wrap until they are 21 years old? Yes, I’m an over-protective mother of an only child who is 25 years old, but that’s the way it goes. Hey, I even worry about you!
I hope you get your cards done. I haven’t started yet. I am spending next summer making all my holiday cards…that’s my 2015 goal. That and finish working on my stamping room. It will be interesting to see if I can stay well and live up to all that.
    Take care! Nancy B

    1. Thank you Nancy! I do love all of the coordinating goodies that we have! Yes, it would look great in traditional Christmas colors too!
Ha! I would like to wrap Daniel in a bubble! Worrying about them isn’t a bad thing! I really appreciate you working about me too!! I am still not finished with my cards! I am going to get started early next year too! I always have big plans, I hope that we both get them accomplished! Hugs to you!! 🙂

  6. Hi Justin,
I’ve just caught up with your last few cards and really like the peaks from the new catalogue in January. It’s so much fun when you get a big parcel of goodies in the post! Your cards have been great.
I hope your friends little girl is okay and now she can compare bumps with Daniel, poor things.
    Take care,
    Michelle

    1. Hello Michelle!
Thanks! I’m glad that you are enjoying the peeks! I love a nice big box of stuff from Stampin’ Up!
Savannah is doing just fine! I am definitely going to get her together with Daniel! LOL!
You have a nice day! 🙂

  7. OK I really need to read every word, at first I thought Brian King fell down the stairs, and you rushed over there. Great friend, but a few hundred miles apart.

its amazing how little ones bounce back and fortunately often are not seriously hurt.

LOVE!!! this card. Anything made with Blackberry Bliss is a hit!

    1. LOL! Oh no Linda! That’s pretty funny that you read it that way! They really are resilient when the are young!
Thanks you! So glad you enjoy the card! 🙂

  8. Hi Justin,
what a great friend you are! I am glad Savanah is ok. Little ones sure can give us big frieght! But they always bounce back, just hopefully not too high! (Couldn’t resist! )
Love the card! Great design and great color choices. You can’t go wrong with the in colors.
I think I have decided to forgo the Christmas cards and do New Years cards. They way I am not stressing and gives me a few more minutes!
Hope your Tuesday was a good one.
    Donna

    1. Hello Donna!
Thanks! I’m a good friend because I have such good friends! The little do scare us but they really are resilient! LOL!
Thank you! I love the blues and purple together! I may join you in skipping the Christmas cards this year. I had a good Tuesday and hope that you did too! 🙂
