Mojo 378 & the New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! My wish for the New Year is that it’s great for all of us! I hope that you all had a fun and safe New Year’s Eve. I had a nice low key one. No, I did not move at work again yesterday, I’m over it! LOL! Maybe Monday? I came home and my brother, Erika and little Daniel were at my parent’s. One of their little Dachshunds passed away the night before in the car on the way to the vet. Poor little Nick. They came over to bury him in the backyard. After that the six of us went to Friday’s for dinner. I was surprised at all of the large groups of people that were there having dinner. I guess a lot of families decided to have a low key, fun New Year’s Eve. After dinner we went back to my parents and I chased Daniel around for a bit. Sometimes his little legs move faster than the rest of him! They left around 7:30 and I came home and decided that I would put the new wall unit together and switch them out. The main part didn’t take but 20 minutes, the door and drawer inserts took the longest. I did manage to get everything switched and I love the way it looks now. After that was done it was time for a glass of Cupcake Red Velvet wine and some Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. I text a bunch of my peeps to wish them Happy New Year and then finally went to bed around 2:00, hence my lateness this morning! A different way for me to ring in the New Year but not a bad way at all!

My first card for this year is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Mojo378

Now that the Holiday’s are officially over it’s time to start thinking about Valentine’s Day! There are a few really fun new sets in the 2015 Occasions Catalog along with some really great Designer Series Paper so that’s what I used for my card! It begins with a base of Calypso Coral Card Stock and the background is a piece of Real Red. The two flags are paper from the Stacked with Love DSP Stack*, I used a Simon Says Stamp die to create the stitching down the sides on the flagged pieces and also on the piece of Crisp Cantaloupe that goes across the top. My greeting is from the You Plus Me Stamp Set* and is heat embossed in Calypso Coral on Whisper White and cut out with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Circles Dies. Some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. A little Red Glimmer Paper heart, cut out with one of the dies from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits*, I adhered to the greeting with a piece of Stampin’ Dimensional and completes the card. I really like the colors in the Stacked with Love DSP and the You Plus Me Stamp Set has some cool graphic style images! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge! It’s the first post of the new year, one of 365! Thank you so much for stopping by to see me and I hope that today is the start of the best year ever for all of us!! πŸ™‚

  1. I love this card! Such cute use of the new DSP and stamp set. I just had to laugh tho because this stamp image always makes me think of that silly fake boy band “2gether” from like 2000 that had a song called “Calculus” (U + Me = Us). lol!

  2. Happy New Year, Justin! It’s so nice you have family nearby to celebrate with. Cupcake Vineyards is in my old stomping grounds, Livermore, CA. That part of the country produces some great wine. I love your card – I always forget about the Calypso Coral EP. Thanks for the reminder.

    1. Happy New Year Wendie! Yes, I am lucky that I live so close to a lot of my family! I would have to agree with you about the wine! I love that Cupcake! You know me and my embossing!! LOL! πŸ™‚

  3. Happy and Healthy New Year! I am so sorry to hear about your brother’s family’s dog! It is fortunate (?) that you have family nearby to be with at a time like that. How old was the dog?
As for your new wall unit, we are still waiting for a final results photo! I am sure it is a masterpiece.
I love your glimmer red heart on today’s card! What really blows me away is putting a number to your posts! Sometimes you even have two or three projects a day for us! Wow! Doesn’t that seem awesome to you too? 365!!!
Well, I have three more days to get ready to go to Columbus, OH, for my husband’s trade show convention. I have been helping him every year since I retired, and it’s a grueling two days to set up and then three days of show time. Little Pi gets to go to her boarding kennel and have lots of fun. My husband Byron had the Pi symbol made into earrings for me for Christmas. Now that was a total surprise since all I wanted and was expecting was for my wedding ring to be fixed. That turned out beautiful with a new, higher crown to hold the diamond in. We had a quiet New Year’s at home too.
Thanks for all your cards and posts! You are very inspiring!
Take care and post photos! Love you! Nancy B

    1. The same to you Nancy! Thank you, Nick was 10, not old but it was his time. I feel bad for the other dog, he’s going to miss him. I will take a picture of the wall unit today, I really like it!
Sometimes when I think of the fact that I have had a post every day for the past three years it does blow my mind a little! But, it has become just a part of my day!
I’m sure that the trade show is a lot of work but I’ll bet it’s fun too! That sounds like a very thoughtful and nice present to get from hubs! I’m glad that you had a nice Holiday!
I thank you for all of your comments! Without the comments it would be a lot harder to post everyday!
You take card as well! Thanks again! Love you too! XOXO πŸ™‚

  4. Happy New Year Justin:

I see you are starting the New Year with a bang. Super, duper great card and the little glitter heart really pops on this one. I haven’t even thought about Valentine’s cards but I guess I should. First I have to get all the thank you cards for Christmas done. This DSP is fabulous. I would describe this card as “delicious” because it reminds me of red velvet cake! LOL

We had the best trip ever. Traffic was light both going and coming home, no snow or rain the entire trip and we have finally smartened up and don’t try to see every single relative and friend in the course of five days. We spent time with our children and a few friends, ate fantastic Italian food (which you can’t get here in Maine) and brought home lots of pastries from my favorite Italian bakery. We did not see everyone we wanted to but it made all the difference between stressing and running every minute to enjoying relaxing time with those we did see.

Now I get to play “catch up”. The bad part is there are so many emails………..the good part is I get an entire week of Justin and of Brian. Yeah. Hugs to you my friend and may 015 treat you with lots of wonderful surprises.

    1. Happy New Year Grace! I missed you!
Thank you very much! I do love that DSP! Nice mix of patterns! I decided that since I blew Christmas I would get an early start on Valentines! LOL! Mmm… I love red velvet cake!
I’m happy to hear that you had a nice trip! I think that the way you did it was good, I too am realizing that you can’t do everything and when you do things that way it’s more fun! No good Italian food in Maine! Oh no!
Yes, you do have a lot of emails! Have fun going through the posts!! Glad that you are back!! XO πŸ™‚

  5. Justin, Great card ! Love the colors you chose to put together. I was cleaning off my desk the other day and came across my calypso coral embossing powder. I was thinking of using it on a flower outline. Just love the colored embossing powders. Love how you used it on such a solid image.
Have a Happy & Healthy New Year. Thanks for continuing to share your amazing creations.

    1. Hey Gerri!

We had a nice night last night…good food and good friends! I barely made it to midnight! I love your card today! I do love valentine’s day…or anything heart-shaped. I’ve always loved hearts since I was a little girl. I am going to have to find that Simon Says die…I love it! I hope to get in the stamp room today and gonna throw a big pot of scalloped potatoes and ham into the oven. Yummy! Have a great day!

    1. Happy New Year Karen!
I did enjoy my quiet New Year’s Eve! I do like to be productive! Now I just need to get the old on out of the house! I will take a pic today! It’s all finished! Glad that you enjoyed your Eve too! Thank you! I love Valentine’s cards too! Love the reds! Simon has some great dies, I have a cool heart coming in the next few days! I’ll have to make a card with it! I hope that you enjoyed your football! I had a nice day and I’m off today!! Woo hoo! Mmm, dinner sounds like it will be yummy! Enjoy your crafty time! πŸ™‚

  9. Love it! Hard to believe we are starting on Valentines already, the season went by so fast. I hope the New Year is good to you and yours!

    1. Thank you Jeffie! I know, time is just flying by! I hop that the New Year is great for all of us! πŸ™‚

  10. Hey Justin…just me again. Can you get me an item or product number for the stitched dies you used? Thanks!

  11. Love love love this! I cant wait for my order to come in, tomorrow. This was one of my favorite bundles.

New Years was low keyed here and I loved it. Hubby and I went out for early dinner and the place was packed. Alot of families beat us to the restaurant, but it is so good to see families celebrating together. Once my kids texted me that they got to their destinations I played for a bit then got lost on Pinterest. I bought a food dehydrator and wanted some ideas. Today is experimentation day,I thought I’d try fruits, cant go wrong there.

Winter Claasic game on, GO HAWKS!

    1. Thank you very much Linda! You are going to have fun with your goodies!
I too enjoyed my low key New Year’s! I was happy to get my wall unit put together and then sit and relax for a bit! You’ll have to let me know how your food dehydrator experiment went! πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you so much Micael! Make sure that you place your order through your favorite Demo! Wink wink!
      HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! πŸ™‚

  12. Happy New Year to you, your family and friends Justin. I’m sorry to hear about your brothers dog, it is hard when they leave us as they are part of the family. I would like to see you and Daniel running around together! LOL

    1. Happy New Year Michelle, to you and yours as well! It was not expected to loose Nick, he was quite upset. I’ll see if I can get a video of Daniel and I! He is just way too funny and loves to be chased! πŸ™‚

  13. Hey Justin, love this card! The stitched outlines really make the pieces stand out and the love heart paper is so cute! I only need to make one valentines card for my husband, but for some reason I always leave it til the last minute and end up making a less-than-impressive card… Glad you had a nice new year (besides the sad πŸ™ doggy part) I’m looking forward to hearing all about Daniel’s antics this year! Heading out for cappuccino and banana bread this morning mmmmmmm, gonna be 108f today, phew! Have a great day off Justin πŸ˜€
    Cheers, Kelly xxx

    1. Hello Kelly!
Thank you! I love the stitching detail and the DSP is great! Hmm, I am going to stop leaving things to the last minute, we can do it together! LOL! I look forward to many more posts about little Daniel, he’s just the best! Mmm, you Cappuccino and banana bread sounds perfect! That’s a little hot but I’d take it over 10degrees! I’m enjoying my time off from work! πŸ™‚

  14. Sounds like a nice evening! I’m so sorry about your brother’s dog though, how sad!

Your card is really cute! I like the Calypso Coral and Real Red together, will have to try that combo myself sometime.

    Happy New Year!

    1. It was a nice evening Kristie! Thank you, it was sad. πŸ™
Thanks! I too love those two colors together!
A very Happy New Year to you too! πŸ™‚

  15. Glad to hear that you spent some quality time with your family on New Year’s Eve, Justin! I’ve been down with a very bad cold for over a week and didn’t get to spend time with my family. It was just my husband and me, but I’m always content to be with him since he’s my BFF. Sorry to hear about Nick. I know how attached we can become to our fur-babies.

*Love* your card design, Justin! The colors and the DSP all coordinate very well, and the sentiment really makes me smile.

    Wishing you again much happiness and good things in 2015! Thanks again *so* much for sharing your thoughts, feelings, and wonderful creations with us!!! {{{Warm HUGS!}}}

    1. Thanks El, I love my family, they are great! Sorry to hear that you have been sick, good that you have your BFF Hubby with you! Yes, losing Nick was sad. I feel bad for the other dog Jake, he must be lost without his little buddy.
So glad that you like the card! I am so grateful to have all of you to share my days with! All good things for all of us in 2015! Hush to you too! πŸ™‚
