Mojo 380

Another chilly day here, it did get sunny towards the afternoon though and that did warm it up a bit. Another busy day at the office as always. After dinner I helped my friend Isabella with her iPhone. Sometimes technology can be a little temperamental! Then it was off to the Stampin’ Galley for some crafty time. I had to make two cards since I have the concert tonight and didn’t think that making one when I got home at midnight would be a good idea. I used my trip into Manhattan for my inspiration for both of them. I’m so excited for the concert tonight!! I listen to Sam’s album all the time and I never get tired of it. If you have never heard him here is his cover of Whitney Houston’s How Will I Know. The way he sings the songs completely changes the feel of it. I LOVE IT!!

The video has over nine million views!! WOW!

Ok, enough about Sam now on to today’s card which is for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

Mojo380

I wanted to play around with some new goodies and use a die that I picked up a while ago. The base of today’s card is Whisper White Card Stock. I used a piece of Basic Black to cover the entire front, I like to do that because it saves a little on paper and then you don’t have to line the card. My background is a piece of the really cool Irresistibly Yours Designer Series Paper from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog. I used a Mini Ink Blending Tool and some Night of Navy to color the paper. The stars are embossed so when you wipe it off they stay white. A strip of Silver Foil Sheet is embossed with the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and goes down the leftย side. On top of that is a piece of Vellum that I heat embossed the stars from the Project Life Point and Click Photopolymer Stamp Set in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The cityscape is a piece of Basic Black and I used a Mama Elephant die to cut it out. It’s adhered to a piece of Smoky Slate with 2-Way Glue and then to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Up in the top right is my greeting that is from the Honeycomb Hello Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and punched out with the 3/4″ Circle Punch. I love that Designer Series Paper and the cityscape is just really cool! It works for a night out in Manhattan don’t you think?! I really hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge. It’s always nice to have you stop by and I hope to have lots of pictures from tonight’s concert for you tomorrow! Have a fantastic Thursday! ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t that they ever released the song on radio, just on YouTube! I had an awesome time at the concert! ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Love this card! It is just so striking/stunning! I think I will make a version of it to share with others! Your blog is one I visit often for inspiration!

  5. Good Morning Justin! Fabulous card today! The night lit up with stars is so pretty! And yes, that skyline does look like a Manhattan skyline! Very cool indeed! I love the video of Sam doing Whitney’s song. I just love his voice! Have a great time at the concert tonight—you’ve waited long enough! Hope your day goes by quickly for you! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Hello Karen!
Thanks very much! I thought that the card was fitting for the evening last night! I think that Sam has the most amazing voice! The concert was fantastic! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. love the cityscape under a starry night, are the stars bright and clear in the city? I haven’t really listened to Sam before(I know, gasp!) but I understand why you’re a fan, he has a beautiful voice, thankyou for introducing me to it. I have been listening to Pentatonix lately. Enjoy the concert, after hearing his voice I am sure you will ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you Lynne! You can see the stars in the city, not as bright because of all of the lights, but they are there! I’m glad that you enjoyed the video! He really is amazing and his album is wonderful! Andrew went to see Pentatonix when they were here in the city and loved them! The concert was amazing! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. WOW is right! Your card is so beautiful! I just got the “Calling All Heroes” set because of the city scape stamp. I have such a big spot in my heart for cityscapes. I think people with a camera eye and photography have the eye for envisioning cards as well. Unfortunately, I do not, but people like you are the greatest inspiration for me!
I am almost as excited as you about the concert tonight! Thank you for Sam Smith, your cards, your family stories, and your photos. I can’t wait to see what you have for us tomorrow! Need I say “Have fun” tonight? Love ya, Nancy B

    1. Thank you very much Nancy! I love the Calling All Heroes set, that has a great skyline in it! I think that you may be right about the connection between photography and cards! I’m honored that I get to be an inspiration to you!
LOL! I’m happy that you like Sam! The concert was fantastic! I’m so glad that I get to share with you! I had a great time! Love ya too! XOXO ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Hey Justin, this card is fantastic!!! LOVE that cityscape die, and the scene you have created is amazing! I can’t wait to hear all about the concert, and see the photos, it’s almost time! ๐Ÿ˜€ It’s already Friday morning here, one more work day til the weekend – bring it on! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Cheers Justin xxx

    1. Hey Kelly!
Thank you! The cityscape die is great! Love all of the detail! The concert was soooo good! I have a video for you this morning! Yay for Friday! XOXO ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. With a star studded background like that Justin, you need Mount McKinley for the silhouette! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Wouldn’t it be fun to ink the Northern Lights across part of that sky?? Great concept.

    1. Yes Colleen, that would have worked really well! Thank you! I love that idea of the northern lights! I’ll have to give that a try! ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Hi Justin:

I bought the entire Hero set for the cityscape stamp and now I have to find that cityscape die. I just love it and your card is absolutely fabulous. I was never impressed with the smokey slate card stock until you started using it so much. Now I’m rethinking how I feel about it. The smokey slate certainly makes the cityscape in black really stand out.

Have fun at your concert tonight and hopefully you will be able to get SOME sleep before heading to work tomorrow. LOL Big hugs,,,,XXXOOO ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Hello Grace!
I too used the Calling All Heroes set for mainly the cityscape! The Die from Mama Elephant is so cool! I think that Memory Box makes one too! I love Smoky Slate, it makes a great neutral!
The concert was so amazing! He was just incredible! Sleep, who needs that! LOL! Bug hugs back to you! XOXOXOXO ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Thank you so much Linda!
The concert was super! Hope that you had a good sleep! Yay for Friday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Hello Justin!!!!!! Wow, you are probably watching and listening to Sam right now!!!!!!!! I am SO, SOOOOOOOO super-excited for you!!!!!!! AMAZINGLY AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! And, of course, I can hardly wait to hear all about it!!!!! I came across this video when I searched for anything live by him right before the holidays and found it just exquisite, so rich with emotion. SIGH ๐Ÿ™‚ Enjoy every minute!!!!!! And what a fabulous card, I love EVERYTHING about it!!!!!! Perfect for your WOW evening!!!!!

    1. Hi Laurie!
Yes, I was at the concert when you commented! He was so great! I hope that you enjoy the video! His version of the song is just incredible! Yes, lots of emotion, changes the song completely! So happy you enjoyed the card too! ๐Ÿ™‚
