Paper Players 228

Yes, it rained all day yesterday just like they said it would. I didn’t go anywhere except to see Daniel at my parents. My brother and his wife went to a wedding so my parents watched Daniel. He is so damn cute I can’t stand it! We gave him some stew and he loved it and then I fed him his fruit. We ran around and payed with the magnets on the fridge. He is trying to talk and he gets a little annoyed that you don’t understand what he is trying to tell you. It won’t be long now! I did manage to get a lot of crafting done yesterday. I didn’t get as much done as I had planned because I decided that I would try my hand at a mixed media project and I got lost in it. Time sure does fly when you are having fun! What were you all up to yesterday?

Today, being Monday, means that I have my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

Paper Players #228

A fun challenge from LeAnne! I decided that I would break out the Bravo Stamp Set and go from there. My card base for today is a piece of 12″ x 12″ Crumb Cake Card Stock that I cut to 5 1/2″ x 12″ and scored at 4″ and 8″ to make a trifold card. I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut out the window, the frame from a piece of Night of Navy and a piece of Vellum. The greeting, from the Bravo Photopolymer Stamp Set, is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on the Vellum and adhered to the card behind the frame. On the panel inside I adhered a piece of Maritime Designer Series Paper. When you fold the card you can slightly see the DSP through the window. Definitely a very clean card that puts the sentiment front and center! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players challenge. It’s always good to have you stop by and I hope that you have a magnificent Monday! 🙂

  1. Love this card!! Great masculine card. Love the fold. Love the vellum and the paper under it. Now..did you say you tried a mixed media project? Or do I need glasses? LOL

    1. Thank you very much Michael!! I did say that I tried a mixed media project and I like the way it came out! Don’t you were glasses?!?! LOL! 🙂

  2. Oh my gosh Justin, you are beyond clever! I have never seen a card with this kind of fold in all my years of googling stamping and cards – you definitely got a double portion of the creative gene! I love how this card is so simple, and yet so special at the same time! “Wow” is all I have to say about that 😀 we are off on a road trip to Adelaide tomorrow to see my parents and do some shopping – something different for a Tuesday! Our news online reported that Adelaide made the list of places New Yorkers should visit – I have to admit I wondered why, lol! I lived there till I was 25, it’s not that interesting 😉 But, I’m sure there’s worse places to grow up! Cheers Justin xxx

    1. Thank you so much Kelly! I thought it was a fun way to make the focal point the greeting and still have something extra! I hope that you have a safe journey and lots of fun! I want to come to Australia so bad! I’m sure that there is so much to see and do there! When I hit Lotto I’ll be over! Have a great time! XOXO 🙂

  3. Gorgeous card! I love the stamped greeting, and I love the unique fold! I think you need more rainy weekends!!! 🙂

    1. Thank you very much Melanie! Ha ha! I really did just get lost in the craft room yesterday! 🙂

  4. Hi Justin! Love your card! Simple but never boring! Gonna have to try that fold, I really like it! Sorry I didn’t get a chance to comment on your card yesterday….love that one too! I really do love valentine’s cards so I enjoyed your card, especially the layering of the tags. We had a Packer party to go to yesterday. Such a huge disappointment. I’m not a football fanatic but when they are in these play off games, they are fun to watch. Hope your Monday is off to a great start!

    1. Hello Karen!
Thank you! The fold was fun and it’s a good way to mix things up and use some 12×12! I’m glad that you enjoyed the Valentine too! I am not a football fan at all but I understand the excitement that the playoffs bring! My Monday was pretty good! 🙂

  5. What a great card. I love how you put the Maritime DSP on the inside but behind the vellum. Now I can’t wait to see your media project you worked on.

    1. Thank you Sandy! I am working on another mixed media project, I had so much fun with the first one! This could be a new addiction! LOL! 🙂

  6. Hi Justin:

Love that you can see the DSP behind the vellum. I’ll have to give that a try. This card certainly meets the criteria of the challenge. So the final size of this card folded is what? 4″ X 5-1/2″? That would make it perfect to fit into an A2 size envelope. I have a lot of the 12 X 12 SU paper but never seem to use it. This card fold would allow me to finally use that all up! Yeah! Thanks for a great card Justin. Hoping you have a Marvelous Monday! Hugs – 🙂

    1. Hello Grace!
I like when you can layer things and they still keep a clean look! Thank you! Yes, that the final size of the card. It does fit right into an A2 envie! I will be doing more of them, I too have lots of 12×12! I had a nice day and hope the same is true for you! XOXO 🙂

  7. Now, this is a very clever way to use vellum and DSP! LOVE this, Justin! The sentiment pops and those stitched frames are THE BOMB! Love them too! Hip hip hooray for this card! Thanks for participating in my challenge this week at the Paper Players!

    1. Yay! Thanks so much, LeAnne! I really did enjoy coming up with a card for your challenge and I’m so glad that you liked it. Have an awesome weekend! 🙂

  8. How clever Justin – I’m always wondering how to use this DSP pattern – now I know! I too am loving those stitched dies. Thanks for joining us for our CAS sentiment challenge over at The Paper Players this week!

    1. Thank you very much Joanne! I love that DSP! The stitched dies are so great too! Have a lovely weekend! 🙂
