Freshly Made Sketches 174

It was actually warm here yesterday, well, warm is a relative term, it was 34 degrees! Which feels somewhat like a heat wave compared to -10. Tomorrow it’s supposed to go down to -15 that’s without the wind chill! Now that’s cold for NY! I may need to be chiseled off of the sidewalk at some point! Yesterday was a pretty good day at work, I had lunch with my friend Robin and it was my friend Christina’s birthday so there were some Red Velvet cupcakes to be had! I definitely ate too much! When I got to my parents Daniel was there! He was running around like always and wanting to be everywhere that he shouldn’t be! He is still the cutest! When I came home I went straight into the Stampin’ Galley, I had quite a few projects to get done, I forgot there is a Control Freaks Blog Tour this evening so I had to get those cards done! Be sure to check back here around 9:00pm to take the tour! And let’s not forget that tomorrow is Friday, freezing Friday as it will be know this week!

The first card that I made last night is for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I want to thank Narelle for choosing my card as her pick for last week’s challenge! Now here is this week’s sketch…

Freshly Made Sketches 174

Loads of possibilities! I stayed very true to the sketch and had fun with it! The base for today’s card is Whisper White Card Stock. My diagonal strip is a piece of paper from the Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Series Paper Pack backed with a piece of Night of Navy. My ballon is cut out with the Balloon Framelits, once from a piece of Bermuda Bay and again from a piece of Vellum Card Stock. I used the stamps from the Celebrate Today Photopolymer Stamp Set to heat emboss the confetti on the Bermuda Bay balloon in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and the Happy Birthday on the Vellum one in Calypso Coral Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Some 2-Way Glue holds the balloons together and some Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere it to the card. The bow is a piece of Gold Foil Sheet and is also cut out with the Balloon Framelits and adhered with some more 2-Way Glue. A piece of Whisper White Baker’s Twine is adhered in a few spots with Crystal Effect to give it the fun curves. To finish off the card I adhered some sequins from Doodlebug and Pretty Pink Posh with Crystal Effects randomly on the top half of the card. I love the colors and the fun Designer Series Paper, so bright and cheery, perfect for a birthday! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Thanks for stopping by and I wish you all a very good Thursday! 🙂

  1. Hi Justin! This is a wonderful card!! I love how bright and cheerful it is! I think that Birthday Bash dsp is just the best!! Playing catch-up on your other creations but your card from yesterday really caught my eye. I love the gold on that! This cold weather is crazy isn’t it? Good thing I don’t have to be anywhere today, just catching up on laundry after being gone for a few days. Have a great day!

    1. Thank you very much Karen! I do love the Birthday Bash DSP, especially the two specialty pieces! Glad that you enjoyed yesterday’s card too! Yes, the cold weather is insane! I’m over it! LOL! Hope that you enjoyed your day! 🙂

  2. As always, I love it. I like cards that don’t have too many patterns going on and this card is bright and playful. Great job.

  3. Hi Justin, Great birthday card!! The embossing the 2 separate layers of the balloon was awesome. It gives it a really cool effect. And of course I love the sequins!
    Keep warm!

    1. Hello Gerri!
Thank you! I really do love heat embossing and I think that Vellum adds so much to a card! And sequins… need I say anything else! 🙂

  4. Adorable ! Especially that cute bow on your balloon. Those pink sequins are special too !
I always enjoy your tablescapes . I think you have a touch of Interior Design talent .

    1. Thanks so much Sonny! I do love sequins and I have so many different ones! I’m glad that you enjoy the tablescapes! Great description! 🙂

  5. Hi Justin. This is my first comment in weeks as I am recovering from a knee replacement 3 weeks ago. It has been a really rough road but I am finally feeling better.
I love this card and think the double layering on the balloon is wonderful! Thanks for the inspiration.
I am so sorry for all of my family and friends who are suffering the effects of the artic weather! Just so miserable! Sending sunshine your way!

    1. Hello Marty! I was wondering where you were! I’m glad that you are feeling better! Knee replacement, that’s a big deal!
Thank you! I love the balloon, it’s pretty neat!
Yes, it’s so cold here tonight! IU have that internal cold that you just can’t get rid of! I’m done with winter! Thanks for the sunshine! 🙂

  6. O.K. Justin – Since this card is so obviously Birthday (that’s a good thing) the sequins look like there was a pinata (sorry but my keyboard doesn’t have that little squiggle to go over the top of the n) at the party and someone finally hit it and the sequins went flying! I love this card – it’s yelling Happy at me. I have to agree with Sonny as I always look forward to your tablescapes (Thanks Sonny I didn’t know what to call it). LOL Your colors come through pretty true on the computer. I have seen some other sites where the blues look green and vice versa. Beautiful job.

You have yourself a Tremendous Thursday. Snowed last night 3″, will snow again later today into tomorrow 6″-12″ and again on Sunday. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! Will I ever see grass again? XO:)

    1. Yes, it definitely is a birthday card Grace! LOL! Yes, that’s what I was thinking when I made the card! Confetti everywhere! I have fun with my pictures, I think that it’s nice to see something more than just the card! I also love using my iPhone to take my pictures, it’s very true to the colors most of the time! I had a good Thursday, hope that you did too! I can’t wait for this horrible Winter to be finished! It will be over soon, but not soon enough! XOXO 🙂

  7. Hey Justin, love this cute balloon card! The sequins set off the dsp perfectly! Great job 😀 Sounds like you are in for a cold weekend? We are having just the opposite, will be a stinker – can’t we meet somewhere in the middle?? It’s Friday morning, and my son’s Jake’s 20th birthday, hardly seems possible when I’m only 28, (and SOME months, LOL!) Hope you have a good day – weekend is almost here! 😉 Cheers Justin xoxo

    1. Hello Kelly!
Thank you! I do think that sequins make any card better! We are going to have a very cold weekend. I would love it if we could meet somewhere in the middle weather wise! Happy birthday Jake!! LOL! I know what you mean! I just keep on celebrating the 2nd anniversary of whatever birthday I’m at! I had a nice day, hope that you did too! Jealous that you get Friday before me! LOL! XOXO 🙂

    1. LOL! Yup! I should change it to ridiculously freezing Friday! Soo cold!! You have it a little worse, but when you get below zero, it’s just all too cold! I hope that it doesn’t last much longer! Thank you! I thought that it was a happy card! I’m jealous that you are off work tomorrow! I wish that I was! Enjoy! 🙂
