Freshly Made Sketches 175

And it’s Friday!! Woo hoo! I have another location to go to for work this morning and then I have my card class later on at Scrap-A-Latte. That’s going to be a good time! Taylor is going to come and help too! I’ll let you know how that goes tomorrow! Yesterday was cold yet again, I know you must be tired of hearing how cold it is here, but I promise that I will never complain about the heat this summer (which hopefully we have a lot of!)! LOL! Speaking of which I can’t wait for it to get here! Last night I had to run to BestBuy to get some ink for my printer and Michaels to pick up some last minute class stuff. Later on after I got home I Skyped with my friend Eva for a bit. Another pretty good day!

So I’m a little addicted to the “licorice” heat embossing Thinlits look and I have used it again on my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 175

I kept the rest of the card really simple. My base is Night of Navy Card Stock. The main panel is a piece of Crumb Cake. I cut out the “hello” three times from Coastal Cabana, Night of Navy and Calypso Coral. They are all heat embossed multiple times with Simon Says Stamp Clear Fine Detail Embossing Powder. I used some Multi-Purpose Glue to adhere them to the Crumb Cake. A piece of “Vintage” Calypso Coral Baker’s Twine is tied in a bow at the very top. I backed it with a piece of Coastal Cabana and instead of using Stampin’ Dimensionals I used a piece of Fun Foam and adhered it with SNAIL to the back of the Coastal Cabana piece and then adhered that to the base. Like I said a really simple card but I love the colors and the glossy hellos! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge. I thank you very much for coming by to see me and wish you all an absolutely fantastic Friday! 🙂

  1. O.K. that’s it Justin! You positively, absolutely, no excuses, have to share a step by step on how to get the Licorice look! LOL Otherwise you are going to have to put up with me hounding you 4-ev-er!

The simplicity of this card is what truly makes it gorgeous. There is no question that the card is saying “I was thinking about you”. I just love it.

Have a fantastic time tonight at Scrap-A-Latte and I think it’s fabulous that Taylor is going to help. When I did the card class at the nursing home last summer my daughter helped me. She works there as a chef but wants to have more interaction with the clients so, after seeing the basics of teaching a class, she can now do it without me. It was such fun to show the card we were going to make at the beginning and all of them saying “oh I could never do that”! Then at the end of the class they were pretty proud of their creations. They did a fantastic job especially considering there wasn’t one of them under 83 years old!

Enjoy your Friday and I wish you an absolutely fantastic weekend my friend! XO:)

    1. LOL! I really want to do a video Grace, but I can never find the time to do it! I will somehow find a way to get it done!
Thank you! I like that it’s simple, though I think that it could have done without the twine at the top, but I was keeping to the sketch! 🙂
Scrap-A-Latte was great fun as always! I’m late this morning with my post but you’ll hear all about it! I love that you do so much with your girls! I think that it’s great, I love doing things with Taylor! I too think that it’s so cool to see the people when they finish the card and are like “wow , I made that!”
I had a great Friday! I hope that you are staying warm and getting your easter cards made! XOXO 🙂

  2. Oh my, what a fantastic card Justin! I agree with Grace, the simplicity IS what makes your card gorgeous 🙂 You’ve started another new trend (besides the vellum embossing), “licorice” embossing, lol! I’ve been hearing about the fun foam providing a more inclusive background. A way to save on dimensionals, I’ve been known to go a little dimensional crazy 😉 Have an awesome weekend!! How is your Amazon Echo working out?

    1. Thank you Jill! LOL! I hope that it becomes a trend! I do love the look! The fun foam is a great alternative to using all of those Dimnesionals! I am always using so many! The Echo is fun, I’m sure that the people upstairs think I have lost my mind taking to no one! LOL! 🙂

  3. Hi Justin! You had me at hello! Great card. I really do love that embossed, glossy look. Very cool! Sounds like a fun class tonight…16 people…yay for you! Wish I lived closer, I’d be there in a heartbeat! That’s wonderful that Taylor is coming too! Does she like to make cards? Have a fantastic rest of your day! 🙂

    1. LOL! Thanks you Karen! The glossy look is fun! Class was great! I wish that you all could come to class! That would be so much fun!! Taylor is so great, she does make cards, but she just helped out! 🙂

  4. Really, really great card, Justin! Love the way you made the Thinlits look like they are epoxy! Thanks for sharing with us at Freshly Made Sketches!

    1. Thank you very much Cindy! I love that clear embossing on the Thinlits! Have a lovely week! 🙂
