Pals Paper Arts 240

Yay! It’s the weekend! I did have a nice Friday! When I got up yesterday morning and looked at the temperature it was 1 degree, I don’t think that I have ever seen that before and I hope to never see it again! I went to start my car and the front two tires were a little flat so they had to be filled. It’s not easy to get that cap off when you can’t feel your fingers! Work was good, my friend Robin and I went to Monty’s for pizza at lunch. Despite the fact that it was 16 degrees out! LOL! She has heated seats in her car and I wanted to take it back into the office with me! I came home and had dinner with the ‘rents and then made my card for today. Taylor came over and we ran out to Target. They still had some Valentine’s chocolate left and it was 70% off so I had to get some of that! Today I’m off to Manhattan for a little while and then I’m going to run out to see Renee at Scrap-A-Latte, weather permitting. We are to have some snow again and they aren’t sure how much. Fun!

Today’s card is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge…

PPA 240

I have been wanting to use this die that I have for a while and I thought that this sketch was perfect for it! The base for today’s card is Whisper White Card Stock and the background is a piece of Basic Gray. My strip down the left side is Pear Pizzaz that I embossed with the Large Polkadot Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The die that I mentioned is the Ring Frame from Simon Says Stamp and is cut out from a piece of Pool Party. I used three of middles from the circles for my stamping. The greeting is from the Hello There Host Stamp Set and the swirls are from the Snuggles and Smooches Photopolymer Stamp Set. They are both heat embossed in Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder. I adhered the ring frame to the card with itty bitty pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals and the stamped circles are adhered with SNAIL. A few sequins from the Hazel & Ruby Green with Envy Collection are scattered around the card and adhered with Crystal Effects. I really love the color combination and the ring frame is just cool! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge. Thank you very much for visiting today! Have a simply lovely Saturday! 🙂

  1. Nice card, love the circles. Glad you have some sunshine today to go to Manhattan. Have a good one. 🙂

    1. Thanks Nancy! The Sunshine was short lived! It started snowing around 2:30 and then changed to rain. At least it’s warmer here than it has been! 🙂

  2. Nice card- the color combination is really nice. That is a pretty cool die and it works well with the polka dot embossing folder.
Brutal- that’s all I can say about the weather you are experiencing. All you can do is take it one day at a time. Enjoy Manhattan!

    1. Thank you very much Marty! It really is a fun die!
Yes, the weather has been brutal but it’s a little warmer here than it has been. Yes, it’s snowing and raining but at least it not freezing! 🙂

  3. Hi Jason, I just signed up to follow your blog and and am very pleased that I did. This is a great card! Love that you use some non-SU products as that helps me know about other options out there…got to get that die! I do have a question though. What’s up with the pig?

    1. Hello Ann! Thank you very much and welcome! I do like to use some other products, there is so much out there! The pig is for a friend to let them know that I’m thinking about them! 🙂

  4. Wow Justin! This is such a cool card! Love the die cut… and the colors… and the silver embossing… and the sequins!! You put together the Best Cards.

    1. Thank you Gerri! It is a fun die cut! I too am really digging the colors! Thank you again! 🙂

  5. Hi Justin:

That die is just wild. I think subliminally you were thinking of Florida. Look at the top right circles and tilt your head to the left – when I saw them I thought “Mickey Mouse”! LOL Am I crazy or what? I can really see some great possibilities for that die like putting little photos in the circles and mounting it in a shadow box. So neat!

Have a great day in Manhattan. I get a little envious that you can just go to Manhattan whenever you want. Wish I could do that. I would have to go back to work though because show tickets have become so outrageously priced. Bundle up and enjoy the beauty of the day. XXOO 🙂

    1. Hey Grace!
Thanks! It’s a really fun die! I think that you are correct! I can see about 5 Mickey’s! LOL! It would be really cool to put pictures in it! Clever idea!
Manhattan was a quick trip! I had to see my friends and then come back to the island to meet Sandy. I do love that I can just go to Manhattan whenever I want to! Yes, Broadway shows are incredibly expensive, that’s a shame too. I did have a good day and hope your’s was a good one too! XOXO 🙂

  6. Hey Justin, cool card! That circle die is great, looks very retro 🙂 Hope your Manhattan trip was fun! My weekend is quiet, my kids are both away! Do you have ‘Typo’ in America? It is a stationary store which sells all kinds of things. I went there on my shopping day in the city this week. They have some stamps too – I bought an “I love NY” set! It has a skyline and a Statue of Liberty too! Now to find some spare time to use it… Enjoy your Sunday Justin 😀 xxx

    1. Hello Kelly!
Yes! The card does have a bit of a retro vibe to it! Manhattan was quick but always fun! We do not have Typo here. Sounds like fun though! I have some I Love NY stamps too, they came in a little tin and I need to use them! I hope that you are having a nice weekend! XO 🙂

  7. Hi Justin! Very cool card! I love that die!! I’m going to use that color combo too. Such a great card! Yeah, this cold weather is getting the better of all us. It felt a bit like a heat wave here today as it hit 30 degrees. It won’t last as tomorrow night will be the coldest of the season–negative 13, not including the wind chill. Brrrr. Hope you had a great time in the city today…maybe you’ll share a pic or two with us?? 😉 Have a great evening!

    1. Hey Karen!
Thanks so much! The die is fun and I too really love the colors! We are having that “heat wave” here! Sad when 30 is “warm”! No more negative numbers please! It was a quick trip into the city but I’m back in today! I’ll see if the weather clears up so I can take some pics! 🙂

  8. Flat tires, not good. Luckily I haven’t had that problem. Yet!

Awesome card, love that die, I have it but have not used it. I have seen so many awespme ideas with this die.

We hit 30 today, heat wave, very dreary and another cold spell coming, oh well… March is only a week away. I did get out for some fresh air and ran some errands, and then aquick stop at Michael’s Crafts. Playtime!

    1. No, flat tires are the pits! It’s the second time too!
Thanks very much Linda! I have had it for a while and was happy when I saw the sketch, perfect for it!
Wow! 30! We are there today! I hope that March proves to be a lot better weather wise than February! Ahh… Michaels! Always fun! 🙂

  9. Ooh la, la, what an elegant sexy card! Love the colors they pair very well together. And your circles just steal the show, great effects with adding back in the stamped circles. Nice bling too Justin; it’s understated and just enough to wow 🙂

Ok, I will not complain again about SC temps when you were at 1 degree. Yikes, I think I would crawl right back into bed! Stay warm and we’ll send warm thoughts your way 😉

    1. Why thank you so much Jill! The colors are fun! A little bling goes a long way! I did really want to stay in bed the other morning! 1 degree is too cold for and just unnecessary! LOL! Thanks for the warm thoughts! They are working, it’s in the 30’s today! 🙂
