Paper Players 231

Another weekend just flew by! It’s raining and chilly here this morning. I had a good day yesterday, I ran some errands with my friend Maureen and then we went to Friday’s for lunch. I came home and made some cards and then sat down to watch the Grammy’s. There were a few good performances, and some not so good! I was happy to see Sam win! He was robbed for Album of the Year though! LOL! Nancy from work was there and I told her to make sure and tell Sam that I said hello! LOL!

Well, it’s Monday and you know what that means… it’s time for this week’s Paper Players challenge…

Paper Players #231

I could have done another Valentine but I figured that I would take a little break! LOL! Today’s card base is Whisper White Card Stock. I used the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangles to cut out a piece of Real Red for the Background. A piece of Crumb Cake stamped with the Dictionary Background Stamp in Crumb Cake and also cut out with the Stitched Rectangles. I adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My tag is a piece of Whisper White punched with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch. I stamped it with the ampersand from the You Plus Me Stamp Set in Calypso Coral and tied a piece of Hemptique Black Hemp Twine though the top. It’s also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. My greeting is from the same stamp set and is heat embossed in Calypso Coral Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum and cut out with one of the elements from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits. I used some clear foam tape to adhere it to the tag and that completes the card. I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Paper Players color challenge. Thanks so much for stopping by and I wish you all a very happy Monday! 🙂

  1. You made the colors work. I’m not too fond of Calypso Coral. Love the stitching, looks like leather. Keep warm . . . again today. 🙂

    1. Thank you Nancy! I think Calypso isn’t that bad! Those Stitched Dies are fun! It was pretty hard to keep warm! 🙂

  2. Hi Justin,
Sounds like you had a busy (as usual) and fun weekend. I have this funny image of you throwing a cushion at the TV when Sam did not win best album. LOL!
I like the colour combo and your embossing on vellum, one of your favourite techniques at the moment! I was not sure about this stamp set but have seen it used lots and on all different themes so may have to get it.
One day down till end of the week! LOL!
    Michelle xo

    1. Hi Michelle!
Yes, busy and fun, just the way I like it! LOLOL! No, I was expecting something odd to win, they always do that! I’m happy that he got 4! He deserves them!
Thank you! I wish we had embossing powder in every color! I wouldn’t need ink anymore! LOL! It is a fun set and I like that all of the text is different!
The weekend can’t get here fast enough! XOXO 🙂

  3. Who is this Beck anyway? He stole Sam’s album of the year Grammy. He was not a nice duet performer to Chris Martin (is that his name?), who tried to make contact throughout the song and then took backstage to Beck at the end. Not my type! Lucky Nancy from work! How did she manage to go to the Grammys or is she just in town?
You have a perfect touch when you emboss on vellum. Good job, pretty card! Rainy day here. Have a fun Monday since you are sending your clone to work! You can pretend, can’t you? Nancy B

    1. I know right Nancy! He was popular years ago! I didn’t even know he was still around! He did steal it, I’ll go and get it back! I like Chris Martin but I missed their duet. The PR Firm that my office uses gave them the tickets, nice huh?!
Thank you! I do love to emboss on vellum, love the look! It was miserable here all day and everything is frozen now. Ahh, I wish I could send the clone! I did pretend! LOL! Hugs! 🙂

  4. Hi Justin:
The Calypso Coral looks really sweet embossed on the vellum. I think the color shows up fabulously using the embossing powder versus just stamping the phrase. It’s very soft and “comforting” and, even though you didn’t make this as a Valentine card it could certainly be used for one. Also I think that dictionary background stamp is one of the most versatile I have seen. Can be used for any occasion.

Still snowing here and will continue most of the day. I can no longer find the grille on the back deck or the table for that matter! LOL I’ll be glad when next week gets here and I can at least watch the action in Daytona for race week. Maybe seeing sunshine someplace will give me hope that eventually we may get some sunshine too. You have yourself a Marvelous Monday! Hugs to you my friend! 🙂

    1. Hey Grace!
Thank you! I almost forgot that I had that color! I am in the love theme lately! No clue why! The Dictionary Stamp is far and above all my favorite, it really is super versatile!
Yikes! You definitely have gotten a lot of snow. We had freezing rain all day, I really am done with Winter! We will have sunshine again and we’ll forget all about this white stuff! I had a good day, hope that you did too! Hugs back at you! 🙂

  5. Hi Justin,
Great card! The coral embossing on the vellum looks really cool! Thanks for sharing.
Watched the grammy’s off and on last night. I thought of you when Sam Smith won. Knew you’d be happy about that.

    1. Hello Gerri!
Thank you! You know me and heat embossing, especially on vellum!
Yay! I was so happy that won 4! He’s a great artist! 🙂

  6. Hi Justin! Great card today. I love the way the ampersand just falls a little off your tag. I never tire of using those tag topper punches. What the heck did I do before those??? 😉 I seriously need to get those LawnFawn stitched rectangle dies! I was happy that Sam won a few awards last night, love him! Hope your day is going good!

    1. Hello Karen!
Thank you! I really do love that ampersand on the tag, like it was meant for it! Tags are definitely a favorite of mine! You do need the Stitched Rectangles, they are so cool! I was over the moon that he won 4 of the 5 that he was nominated for! Not a bad day, hope that you had a good one! 🙂

  7. Hi Justin, awesome card today, I must think seriously about getting that dictionary background, I can see myself using that a lot! The coloured embossing powder looks so good on vellum! I also thought of you when I saw the news about Sam’s 4 Grammys, I knew you’d be pretty happy! I have to agree with Nancy, I’ve never heard of Beck either… A question: what is the piggy on your blog all about?youve probably explained that a few times already, lol! I hope your week has started off well 🙂 Cheeers Justin xxx

    1. Hello Kelly!
Thanks so much! I can’t believe that you don’t have it yet! I love that dictionary background!
I was super happy for Sam, he is so good, he deserves all of them! The pig is there for a friend to let them know that I am thinking of them every day. My week is off to a start, not good or bad! LOL! Cheers to you too! XOXO 🙂

  8. As I was driving to work today I heard about Sam Hunt, i figured you were cheering and grinnning all night long! Happy for him and you, CONGRATS!

Another great card, I love the tag and the velum banner is the WOW.

    1. Yes Linda! I was quite happy that Sam got the awards that he did! I feel that he was robbed of Album of the Year though! LOL!
Thank you! Hope that you had a good day! 🙂

The Calypso Coral embossing adds a real pop of colour on the vellum and you are making me want those stitched rectangle dies more each time I pop by here!! Thanks for joining us over at the Paper Players this week.
