SUO Challenges 116

So remember yesterday when I said that it was raining, well I was wrong, it was freezing rain! I had to let my car warm up for 20 minutes before I could chisel the ice off of the windows and then skate to work! Who wants to find me a job somewhere warm? I really am over this whole Winter thing. I’m not meant to be cold! LOL! Yesterday was pretty uneventful. I came home after work and had dinner and then puttered around in the Stampin’ Galley for bit and then I decided that I would relax for a while. I really do need to do nothing more often. It was nice to just be for a little bit last night.

Before we get to today’s post here are the weekly deals for this week:

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our shaped cards challenge. I don’t really ever make a shaped card, I don’t know why either, it was fun! I went with a heart shape, you know… for Valentine’s! I also haven’t made a shaker in a while. The base of my card is Real Red Card Stock. I used the Hearts Collection Framelits to cut out all of the hearts. The card itself is two hearts that I scored the top left on the back one and used some Fast Fuse to adhere them together. For the shaker part I cut out the background from a piece of the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack. The front is two that I taped together and cut out from a piece of Basic Black. I also cut out a piece of Fun Foam instead of using foam tape or Stampin’ Dimensionals. A piece of Window Sheet is also cut out and some sequins are sprinkled inside and the shaker assembled with Multi-Purpose Glue. The greeting is from the Snuggles and Smooches Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Vellum and cut out with my Paper Snips. Using the Fun Foam for the shaker was great, I got the idea from Jennifer McGuire. I was missing the shaker cards and hope that you were too! So there is my shaped card for the SUO Challenges blog. 1. Love the card. I don’t think I ever saw a heart shaker one. Very nice!
Hope today’s weather is warmer than yesterday. UGH
    🙂

  2. Super card Justin – it looks like a box of candy! LOL I love how you turned a Valentine heart into a shaker card. You really are something special! Now that card would take me hours to make and yet it seems like you put it together quickly. You’ve got the touch for sure!

I hate icy roads. In fact I refused to go out on them even when I was working. I would try to get to work exceptionally early, a bit late by avoiding the “commuter” hour or just plain stay home. Luckily a lot of you young people can telecommunicate, we never had that option. I’m so glad those days are in the past! You just be careful now because we don’t want anything to happen to you! Hugs XO 🙂

    1. Thanks very much Grace! Yes, it does look a bit like a box of candy! The card didn’t take too long, just cutting all of the pieces out that take a while!
I have decided that I hate the winter!! I work quite close so it wasn’t that bad. I haven’t been out much lately, I’m in hibernation mode I think! LOL! I would love to have a job that I could work from home! I am very careful Grace! Hugs! XOXO 🙂

  3. Justin,
Awesome card!! You have totally converted me from disliking shaker cards to loving them.
    Keep warm!

  4. Love the shapely shaker!
I doubt you could move somewhere warmer, it sounds like you would miss too many people and things from where you are now! I am glad that we rarely get the freezing rain, nice thing about Colorado is it is 70’s today, beautiful out, going to snow tomorrow, and then the sun comes back out, gotta love that!

    1. Thank you very much Jeffie! I would miss my people but then they would have someplace warm to come and see me in! My friend Andrea lives in Colorado and she keeps telling me how warm it is there! You guys are lucky! 🙂

  5. Hi Justin! Love your shaker card today! So cool! I’ll have to try a different shaped card, I love how this one turned out. Yuk…freezing rain. It could be worse though, you could be in Boston! I think I could live in a warmer climate too! Have a great rest of your day!

    1. Hey Karen!
Thank you so much! I need to make more shaped cards too! I am not enjoying the weather at all! Yes, Boston is getting it really bad! I’m goad that I’m not there! I need to move somewhere warmer! I hope that you had a nice day! 🙂

  6. Hey Justin, what a cute card, love the whole design! Are those sequins clear? I’ve never seen them before. And a touch of vellum too! 😉 I can’t believe you had to warm your car up for 20 minutes :-O I just can’t comprehend those temperatures – it’s going to be 104 here today, that’s unnecessary I think – thank God for air conditioning!! Since my daughters’ school started back, they have found 3 snakes in various offices and classrooms, they come out in the heat. Lucky no one has been bitten, as they are deadly ones! Just one of the joys of living in Australia… You try to keep warm today, and I’ll try to do he opposite! Cheers Justin 🙂 xxx

    1. Hey Kelly!
Thank you very much! The sequins are sparkling clear from Pretty Pink Posh, they are the flat ones. I do love a little Vellum! LOL! Yes, 20 minutes before I could begin to chisel the ice off of the windows! You are lucky that you don’t have to deal with the cold like we do! 104 is a little warm but I would take it over -10! AHHH!! I don’t like snakes at all! I would be on a desk!! And here I want to come and visit! Maybe not! LOL! I tried to keep warm but it was difficult! Hope you stayed cool! 🙂

  7. At first I thought it was a box of candy. This is one of your best creations, love it! I love shaker cards and honestly i dont think I ever saw one in a heart shape. Just beautiful.

I hear you, i am so done with winter, 17 days left in February, We are back to tge bitter cold, at least no snow right now. I hate the snow but this freezing rain/drizzle is the worst. Give me snow over that garbage, at least in snow you can still function, the ice is a killer

    1. LOL! Thanks you so much Linda! It does look like a box of candy!
Yes, we are both done with the weather! We are supposed to have more snow, I don’t want anymore! I am with you, I don’t like the freezing rain at all, I would take some flurries over that any day! Hope that you had a good day my friend! 🙂
