SUO Challenges 117

It was another chilly day here yesterday, and windy too! I think that we all appreciate Spring and Summer a lot more than we ever had before after this Winter! My Monday was pretty good otherwise, work was ok I’m starting to get a handle on my new position. We had Chili for dinner last night, that was yummy. I got a fun package in the mail yesterday too, an Amazon Echo. It’s a little tube that you put in your house and it listens to your voice commands to do all sorts of things. You can ask it the weather, have it create a shopping list for you, listen to music or even search the internet. It’s pretty cool and I can’t wait to see what else they add to it! I do love a little technology! LOL!

It’s Tuesday so here are this week’s Stampin’ Up! Weekly Deals:

Built for Free Using: My Stampin Blog

Today I’m over on the SUO Challenges blog for our cards for teens challenge. I thought about the card for a while and finally settled on a fun colorful one. The base of the card is Whisper White Card Stock and I covered the front in a piece of Crushed Curry. For my background I used a piece of the Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Series Paper. My greeting is from the Bravo Photopolymer Stamp Set and is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Vellum. I flagged the end of a piece of Calypso Coral to place behind it and make the greeting stand out a little more. On the top is a bow that I made using the Bow Builder Punch and some Bermuda Bay. It’s adhered with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Two Basic Jewels Rhinestones, one in the middle of the bow and one in the middle of the “YOU” complete the card. I love the confetti on the DSP paired with the neat congratulations! I just screams fun! I hope that you enjoyed my card for the SUO Challenges Cards for Teens challenge. Make sure to stop by the blog and see the rest of the designers projects! Thank you for stopping by and spending a little time with me today! I wish you all a good Tuesday! 🙂

  1. Oh happy day! I can not think of any teenager who would not be thrilled to receive a card like this. It is so much fun! Your white embossing on vellum is so perfect! I can’t wait to get my bow punch — I think it is still sitting in a container on a west coast dock.
It’s up to 3 degrees below zero right now. We have been burning through a LOT of wood and the furnace is still cranking on. Will we ever curse the summer heat again? No, just the A/C breaking down…
Have a warm one! Nancy B

    1. Thank you so much Nancy! The backorder stuff is a little annoying isn’t it?!
I’m sure that some people will forget the cold once the Summer arrives like they usually do! I for one won’t! LOL! 🙂

  2. Good Morning Justin:

I agree with Nancy that this is a perfect card for a teenager. Bright, colorful, fun with a little bling to top it off. I really love that DSP because it has unlimited possibilities for color combo’s. And, of course, your embossing on the vellum is perfect! I have the bow punch but haven’t tried making a bow yet. I bet it’s going to be fun to do.

Glad you have a good Monday, that was always the hardest day to cope with for me. It’s still super cold here also although we are graced with sunshine today which makes it all a lot easier to handle. Evidently, according to the weather people, this may be the coldest February on record here. I know my heating bill is feeling that way along with me.

Not much going on today. I had planned a shopping trip but once again the temperatures will be keeping me at home. Yesterday I got 3 projects done so I was pretty happy with that. Not sure what I’m going to do for the rest of the day after lunch. Maybe I’ll bake some cookies. That will keep the kitchen warm and make the hubs a happy man. You have yourself a wonderful day! Hugs 🙂

    1. Hi Grace!
Thank you very much! I do love that DSP, it has some really great colors in it! Yes, you are going to like the bow punch! Perfect little bows in no time!
Monday is the hardest day for me too! We had sun too and that does make it a bit easier but it’s still brutally cold! I think that it’s the coldest February on record anywhere in the whole country! Soon it will be over, not soon enough though!
There is something to be said for staying and just doing stuff! Glad to hear that you got three projects done! Baking cookies sounds like a wonderful idea! You need to keep the hubs happy after all of his hard work with the snow! Hugs to you! XOXO 🙂

  3. Hi Justin! Great card today! It’s bright and cheerful, love that. I love how you chose the saying with the little star that brings out the stars in that great dsp! That little bow is so cute on there too! Just an all-around great card. Glad your Monday was good and that you are starting to get a little more comfortable with your new position. Chili does sound good on these cold days! I have some brownies in the oven right now, the house smells so good. 😉 Keep warm and have an awesome day!

    1. Hello Karen!
Thank you! It is nice and bright and cheerful! Th bow punch is cool, I haven’t used it nearly enough! The job will get better once I have a better understanding of the project. There is no one really to show me what to do which makes it frustrating. I’ll bet the brownies do make the house smell yummy! I’m doing my best to stay warm! Enjoy your day! 🙂

  4. I started following you on Pinterest and ‘stalk’ your blog quietly on a daily basis, but I LOVE this card! Just wanted to share!

    1. Hello Carmen!
So nice to see you here! Thanks so much far taking the time to write! And thank you for your kind words! Have a wonderful day! 🙂

  5. Oh wow Justin, your card is so awesome for a teen’s birthday! Actually I like it for me too, lol 🙂 You are a vellum embossing king, I’ve really got to try it again. Do you use the heat tool on low? Love the sentiment and the dsp, will have to get that dsp for sure! Yum, chili sounds so wonderful right now 🙂

    1. LOL! Thank you very much Jill! It would work for many different people! I do love embossing on Vellum, the look is just fantastic! I use the heat tool on high and I don’t bring it to the paper until it’s good and hot. Move it around a lot too! The DSP is great! Yes, the Chili was perfect for the weather! 🙂

    1. Thanks Linda! We need bright and cheerful! I don’t use the Bravo set as much as I should! There are some great “big” greetings in there! 🙂

  6. Hey Justin, cool card!! I love that designer paper!! Too cute! I’m just sitting down for tea on Wednesday night, busy, busy day… Every day I seem to get more and more added to my work load, serously, I’m only one person! Aaaagggghhhhh! I’m over it! Enough complaining! I’m lucky that I can check in with you and escape the “real world” if only for a few minutes, Lol! I hope your day was great! Cheers Justin 🙂 xoxo

    1. Hello Kelly!
Thanks! Yes, the DSP is so cool! It’s funny how that happens, more just keeps getting piled on! I feel the same way! We are allowed to complain! Glad to be your escape! You are all mine! My day was good! Hope that you are having a better Wednesday! XO 🙂
