Fab Friday 60

Yes, this is the third post in two days! I had the Control Freaks Blog Tour which started last night and continues today, if you are looking for that click HERE. Today is Fab Friday and that’s what this post is for. I stayed home from work today, not really feeling great and I had a headache when I woke up this morning. We are also supposed to get up to six inches of snow today, just when you thought it was over! Because of the snow the card class at Scrap-A-Latte has been moved to Monday night. I still went there last night to prep for it though. I always love seeing Renee and the other peeps that are there! I also picked up some goodies! I hardly ever leave there without something! After the scrapbook store Heather called and I went and met her and her boyfriend George at On the Border for some Mexican food. It was quite good and it was nice to spend time with the both of them. Today I will be laying low and taking some naps to try and perk myself back up!

Like I said it’s Fab Friday and this week we have a simple sketch for you…

Fab Fri 60 3-20-2015

I had fun with the sketch and even used some of the new goodies that I got from the scrapbook store yesterday! My card base is Whisper White Card Stock. On the left are two pieces of paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. The frame is cut from a piece of Smoky Slate using the Mama Elephant Polaroid Fun Creative Cuts. I used a piece of vellum from the Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Stack and colored the leaves in with my Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Marker. The flower is form the Nature’s Perfection Stamp Set and is heat embossed with Smoky Slate Stampin’ Emboss Powder along with the butterfly. I colored the back of both with my Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write Marker and cut the flower out with my Paper Snips, the butterfly is punched out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch. They are both adhered to the card with Kool Tack Clear Foam. The greeting is a piece of Blackberry Bliss cut out with the Mama Elephant Smile Creative Cuts. Yes, I used some Ultra Thick Clear Embossing Powder to give it that licorice look! I’m totally addicted to it! A few Hazel & Ruby The Makery Shine and Sparkle and Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Sequins are adhered to one of the DSP panels with Crystal Effects. I adhered the greeting to the card with Multi-Purpose Glue and that completes the card! I love the Hazel & Ruby Sequins, they have a vintage silver look to them and well, the clear embossed die cut, we know how I feel about that! LOL! I hope that you really enjoyed my card for this week’s Fab Friday sketch challenge! Pay a little visit to the blog and check out the rest of the design team’s projects! Thanks so much for your visit! Have a fabulous Friday! 🙂

  1. Nice card!! I saw on the news that you are supposed to get more snow – I am so sorry…. Ours is finally melted in NE Ohio and this next wave is going south and east of us. I am soooo ready for spring and warm weather. Good luck with the weather.

    1. Thank you MaryJo! Yes, more snow, nice way to welcome Spring! LOL! I’m glad that it’s missing you! I too am ready for Spring! 🙂

    1. Thank you Billie! I’m better, just needed to rest! The weather, that will go away too! Thank you! 🙂

  2. Cute card and that heavy embossing just pops! I love that butterfly too…it looks glittery. Is that just the way the smoky slate looks or is it being on the vellum? TFS. hope you feel better.

    1. Thanks Susan! I do love that clear embossing! It’s just the Smoky Slate, I added no glitter! I am feeling better! 🙂

  3. Hi Justin,
This card does make you smile. Love everything about it . . . the colors, the velum, the photo-frame and the flower. Have a great lazy, stay in PJs, comfy day. Hope you feel better.
    🙂

  4. I am so sorry that you are not feeling well! This is so not like you. Call your mother or go to the doctor if that headache persists. This is not a good way to spend a Friday and we don’t want to waste a weekend! Get well and then keep pumping out these gorgeous cards! Love you, Nancy B

    1. Thank you Nancy! I just needed to rest for a while and the only way for me to do that is to take an unplanned day! I went to mum’s for dinner. The headache went away after my nap! Love you too! 🙂

  5. Hi Justin:

I love the silvery look on the butterfly and the flower. You are a fantastic snipper for sure! LOL I have no idea what I would have done with this sketch, probably just ignored it totally! I thought this was one of the tougher sketches I’ve seen to date. You however, were able to handle it easily. My admiration goes out to you my friend.

I certainly hope you take it easy today and that the headache goes away. I used to get migraines so I know how debilitating it can be. I agree with Nancy’s advice. Call your Mom and I’m sure she will pop over and make sure you eat and take it easy. I know that once you kids get a little older you don’t like to call Mom but I have a little surprise for you – Mom’s love it. It lets them know that even though you are out on your own and able to pretty much take care of yourself, she is still needed. Please feel better my friend! Hug XO :).

    1. Hello Grace!
Thank you! I do love to snip don’t I?! As soon as I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use the Polaroid frame!
I did take it easy and I think that’s just what I needed to do! I feel like my old self again! Just needed to reboot! I see my mum everyday! She is just next door after all! I will always need my parents, love them!! Hugs to you! XOXO 🙂

  6. Hello Justin! Gosh, hope you feel better soon. This must have been coming on for a few days because of you mentioning how tired you were earlier in the week. So rest up and do nothing! I can always tell when I’m not feeling the best because my coffee doesn’t taste good! 😉 And oh my—more snow for you. Ugh! It won’t last though, that’s the good part of that. Such a great card today! Love all your embossing on here. And I love blackberry and smoky slate together. I’m sending big hugs your way and hope you feel better!

    1. Hi Karen!
Thanks, I feel much better! It has been coming and I just needed a day to do nothing! I have to pay attention to the coffee not tasting good! I know because I need more than 5 hours of sleep! LOL! Glad that you enjoy the card! I’m right as rain again! Thanks! 🙂

  7. Feel better soon! My sympathies on the snow, 6 inches would probably kill me at this point of the year. My son says were will be getting snow on Monday, I hope and pray hes wrong, (I’m sure hes right though).

Another fabulous creation. I love how all the elements you chose flow together. I’m off to the Eric Church concert! I’m so excited. Take care

    1. Thanks Linda! I’m all better! The snow, that will go away too! It’s just a nuisance! I hope that your son is wrong too!
Happy that you like the card! I hope that you had an amazing time at the concert! Want to hear all about it! 🙂

  8. I’m so sorry you aren’t feeling well Justin, that just stinks! I also get migraines and they just bite 🙁 Maybe the headache came from the pressure changes in the weather too. Nice and then the cruddy blasted snow is back, double blasted stinky weather!! I hope I was able to give you a smile at least 😉

Your card is reflecting the snowy grey weather, I mean that in a good way. The snowy covered green leaves in the vellum and the snowy butterfly. Your very artistic and manage to incorporate what is going on around you. I LOVE those sequins Justin! They’ll have to go on my wishlist. I just put in a few “Justin” orders….I ordered the thick embossing powder and some sequins, lol and….I ordered the MISTI!! I don’t make cards everyday like you, my little ones sap my energy and most of the time I am exhausted. So it might take me awhile to tell you how I like my new Justin purchases 😉 The clear kool foam rocks!!

    1. Thank you Jill! I’m all better! Migraines are not fun but I don’t get them often thankfully! You might be right about the weather change. Yup, snow again. Boo! You did give me a smile, you always do!
I think that you may be right about the card! I guess the card colors do sometimes reflect my mood. Sorry that I am aiding to your lists! You are going to love the embossing powder and the mist is great! I can’t wait to hear what you think! Yes, I am loving that clear foam too! 🙂
