Freshly Made Sketches 177

I woke up this morning to rain, better than snow and it will help to melt what is left of the snow that we had. Yesterday was a nice day! Work was quiet and I managed to get caught up on most everything that I had pending. After work I stopped by the Post Office to get a package that was supposed to be delivered but I guess was forgotten. I wanted to get it yesterday so that our lovely mail lady wouldn’t just launch in onto the steps in the rain like she usually does! Last night dinner was spent with my friends Anthony and Bill. We stopped by Michaels to see Taylor before heading to Friday’s. We had the endless appetizers and the first round was the new Siracha wings, they were quite tasty! They were followed by garlic parmesan wings, pot stickers and more wings! I think I may sprout some feathers today from all of the chicken I had! LOL! I came home and made my card for today while Skyping with my friend Eva! We have something in the works that I’ll be able to tell you about in April! It’s going to be lots of fun!

My little card that I made last night is for this  week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge…

Freshly Made Sketches 177

I wanted to use a new background stamp that I got yesterday that I thought went perfectly with the anchor from the Guy Greetings Set! My card base for today is Whisper White Card Stock. The panel in the middle is the Hero Arts Waves Background Stamp, I used my Stampin’ Write Markers in Island Indigo, Bermuda Bay and Garden Green to ink it and stamped it on Soft Sky. It’s backed with a piece of Bermuda Bay and adhered to the card with some fun foam behind it to give it a little lift. A strip of Garden Green goes down the left side. My greeting and anchor are from the Guy Greetings Photopolymer Stamp Set, the greeting is heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Island Indigo, I flagged the right side and adhered it to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The anchor is heat embossed on Vellum and cut out with my Paper Snips, a little 2-Way Glue holds it in place. A scattering of some Green with Envy Hazel & Ruby – The Makery Sequins and a few from Pretty Pink Posh complete the card. I absolutely love the colors and the sequins are so cool! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge! Thank you all very much for coming by to see me, you make all the effort well worth it! Have a craft Saturday! 🙂

  1. Good morning, Justin. I love that background stamp for this card and how you used different markers to get the color. So cool. Have a great weekend.

  2. Oh Justin, what a great card. Love the velum anchor and the snipping of it!?!?!!! The background stamp and colors are exquisite, like any DSP. The colors are fantastic. The sequins are like little bubbles floating up. Great card.
    Keep dry today in Manhattan.
    🙂

    1. Thanks so much Nancy! Yes, the background stamp is really neat and I love the colors! Sequins make everything better! Manhattan is tomorrow! Today was Scrap-A-Latte! 🙂

  3. Hi there Justin! Love your card! That background stamp is soooo cool. I can almost feel the motion that my eye sees. I love your vellum anchor! I agree with Nancy, the sequins do look like bubbles. Love those! Sounds like a fun night you had last night…funny comment about the chicken. We eat a lot of chicken at our house and I’ve often thought that. We’re either gonna sprout feathers or start clucking. 😉 Have a great day! The sun is shining here, I’ll send it your way!

    1. Hello Karen!
Thank you! Yes, the background stamp is really neat and the sequins do look like bubbles! I did have fun last night! Love spending time with my friends! I did eat too much chicken! Yes, sprout feather or cluck! LOL! I hope that you enjoyed your Saturday! Mine was pretty great! Thanks! I’ll need the sun tomorrow! 🙂

  4. Good Morning Justin
Good looking card- that background stamp has a lot of motion in it and I can see sea gulls flying over the waves. The sequins do look like ocean bubbles.
Have an awesome Saturday. I am taking one on my sweet doggies (Smokee)to see the eye surgeon today for a follow up visit- he had eye surgery 2 weeks ago for an eye ulcer. He has had his cone collar on for over a month, poor little guy!

    1. Hello Marty!
Thanks! Yes, I love that background stamp, had to have it as soon as I saw it!
My day was great! Aww, your poor little doggie! I hope that all went well at the Vet! 🙂

  5. Love the card – as always!! Anything nautical/beach is right up my alley! It has been raining here in NE Ohio since last evening. A lot of the snow is gone in our yard but the BIG piles of it are still there. Going away slowly but surely – I can see our mailbox now! We also have huge puddles in our side yard and have to wipe the dog’s paws every time she comes back in. (hate the mud and slop but so ready for hot weather again) Have a great weekend!

    1. Thank you MaryJo! Yes, I too am a big nautical fan! It rained here all day too, but that’s better than snow!! It helped get rid of a lot of the snow here too! Ha! I had to wipe Winston’s paws all day! Hope that you have a fantastic weekend! 🙂

  6. Good Morning Justin:

Very, very cool background stamp! My favorite thing about the SU markers is the two different tips. The large tip makes it so easy to mix colors on a background stamp as you have done on this card. Your color combo is perfect for the ocean waves effect! You are quite the “snipper” and the anchor looks as though you used a thinlit die on it. I don’t seem to get the cuts so evenly spaced around the image no matter how hard I try. There must be some trick to it that you have completely mastered.

I’m hoping for a quiet day today so that I can concentrate on making up a photo board for my daughter’s birthday party. It’s been fun going through all the albums and pulling out the photos I want to mount on it but also sad in some ways as it made me realize just how quickly the years go by. Spend as much time with Daniel now so that when he is older and asking to borrow Uncle Justin’s car for a special date you have lots of fun filled memories of when he was little.

I’m a little envious that you have everything so close to where you live so that you don’t have to spend 45 minutes to get to a Michael’s or A.C. Moore. I guess it’s good that I have to do that because otherwise I would be broke all the time! LOL You have yourself a Super Saturday my friend. Love ya! XO

    1. Hello Grace!
Thanks you! Yes, I love that stamp! I do love our markers too! I always use the brush tip, hardly ever use the other end. And you know how I love a little fussy cutting and vellum is very fussy! It took me lots of practice to get it right. I always move the paper and not the scissors.
My day was jam packed but lots of fun! I hope that you got your photo board done, it sounds like the party will be so much fun! There is nothing like looking through a photo album, love to do that and yes, the years just fly by before your eyes! I do spend as much time with Daniel as I can, Taylor seemed to grow up in an instant!
It is nice to have all of the shops close by but it definitely doesn’t help the budget, not that I need to leave the house to do that! Hope you had a good and productive day my friend! Love ya too! XOXO 🙂

  7. I love the blues with the green! Gorgeous watery effect! The anchor looks perfect. Another Justin idea that I just have to try in my “spare” time. Why do I never seem to have spare time when you do so much in one day? I guess I have slowed down in my retirement. I am having trigger finger surgery in 10 days. The pain in my hands from the arthritis causes me to slow down, I guess. Well, Happy Pi Day! Between our math wiz son and our dog named Pi, I guess we will! We will see how far we can get with all the major flooding on our roads around here. I can’t find the corned beef that I thought I had in the freezer! Punt! Have a great weekend! Nancy B

    1. Yes, me too Nancy! They are very sooting to me! Spare time?! What’s that?! LOL! I do cram in a lot, but I certainly don’t have any spare time! I hope that your surgery goes well and helps. My cousin and uncle suffer from terrible arthritis. It runs in my family but I’m hoping to avoid it! I forgot that it was pi day! I should have had some pie! I had a cupcake instead! I hope that you were able to get out! You enjoy your weekend too! Hugs! 🙂

  8. Hey Justin, wow, this card is really cool! How long did it take you to colour in that background stamp with the markers? It looks awesome, and the vellum, phew, I was having withdrawals, lol 😉 We went to Friday’s in Charlotte, I liked the “stuff” hanging all over the walls. We couldn’t get over how almost everywhere has free drink refills! You don’t get that here, if you want another drink you have to buy it! My husband insisted on having no less than 3 drinks every time we went out, whether he was still thirsty or not, Lol! Hope you have a great Saturday, cheers Justin 🙂 xoxo

    1. Hello Kelly!
Thank you! The background was pretty quick to color, a few swipes of the marker and done! Ha ha! I too was having withdrawals! LOL! Friday’s definitely has some fun decorations! We have free refills too and I always have more than one! Good for our husband, you need to get what you pay for! My day was great and hope that yours was too! XOXOXO 🙂

  9. Fabulous card! The anchor embossed on vellum looks amazing and I love the sequins. Thanks so much for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches.

    1. Thank you very much Karren! I too am a huge sequin fan! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! 🙂

  10. Wow! Love this background stamp Justin! You are “helping” me too much with my purchases, lol 🙂 I agree the sequins do look like bubbles and that background stamp is crazy perfect for the Guy Greetings. Love it!!

    1. Thank you Jill! Yes, that background stamp is amazing! LOL! I buy way too much crafty stuff! 🙂

  11. LOVE the background! It’s great as is, and your coloring gives it wonderful depth. It’s perfect to show off the white anchor and sentiment. And you can’t go wrong with a sea of sequins! Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.

    1. Thank you Kim! I love that background stamp! As soon as I saw it I had to have it! Have a fantastic week! 🙂
